Crysis 2 details emerge

NYC-set sequel 'among best looking games on console'
The first proper details on Crysis 2 have emerged, via a German PC mag.

The multiplatform sequel - which has been confirmed for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 - is set three years after the events of the first game in a devastated New York City.

PCGames mag was shown the Xbox version of the game, which it claims is "among the best looking games available on any system".

As confirmed in the original teaser trailer, the sequel introduces the Nanosuit 2.0, which adds a new 'tactics' mode to the skills roster, helping players gather information about the environment, enemy positions and fallen soldiers.

The suit will still include four modes in total but as has been requested by many Crysis players, 'power' and 'speed' modes have been combined.

According to Crytek, the destroyed metropolis setting allows it to introduce more vertical gameplay to the game, which will allow players to plan their attacks from above and hopefully, get some glider action going.

It also says to expect "plenty of surprises" and a deeper storyline.

The question is... Vanquish and Crysis 2; which will be king of the city super-soldier games? Place your bets now.

Crysis looked great but was an average game at best. Hopefully they won't make the same mistake this time.

Cant wait to see footage of Crysis 2 running on the consoles!

Is it true that its the old Free Radical team that are the guys working on it?

I haven't played Crysis and i'm betting there are a lot of console gamers in a similar boat. So why should i be excited about the sequel. I think they should port the first one before thinking of bringing the sequel to consoles.

My money's on Vanquish.

Just as long as there's no daft ice-shooting-jellyfish-aliens I'll be happy. That was a real turn off for me.

I would release the first one and Warhead together if possible. Make it 3D while they are at it. The Jungle would be epic in 3D. Smile

The Jungle... It came alive and took him Wink

Yeah that bit was horrible.

**SPOILER** It was nice coming out of there though and seeing everything turned to snow and ice. And getting some kick ass gun... shame the end came up very quickly from that point. **END SPOILER**

Because this game doesn't seem to be a direct sequel, the story takes place 4 years later so I suppose everything will be explained during the game.
I recon releasing the first two games on consoles would be a good idea... but I don't think it's going to happen.

Am I the only one who didnt mind much abt the aliens? sure those sections with the small squid things were not nearly as good as the earlier parts but after a bit it really stepped it up and brought a really nice change of pace that couldnt be matched with slow human enemies.
The same people who are critical on the alien sections would probably also say it was too monotonous if we had to fight humans the for the whole game...

I mostly enjoyed taking on kpa soldier after another, I still have the first Crysis installed and I replayed Warhead recently. The alien sections aren't probably as fun as the jungle sections but I had great fun taking aliens down with grenade launchers and the gauss rifle... never gets old. One of the screens I saw show some kind of soldiers shooting at the protagonists but they are not KPA...
