Gears Of War lead designer Cliff Bleszinski has promised some 'Megaton, face-melting news' soon - which from where we're standing, looks highly likely to be about Gears 3.
Why is it that Microsoft exclusives tend to get worse with each incarnation (e.g. Halo, Gears) while Sony exclusives tend to get better (Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, etc)...?
I loved Halo:CE and I quite liked the first Gears. However, the second Gears just bored the pants off me which was weird as I’d got quite excited about it! I originally put it down to it being “more of the same” but now others are saying the first was actually much better – i.e. not just my embittered soul baying for MS blood!
EDIT: Please take the above with a pinch of salt...tequila and lemon will only be issued to those over 18.
If he's calling it a Megaton then it cant be a sequel to Shadow Complex (although I do want a sequel!) and I doubt it will be People Can Fly's Bullet Time either. It must be a new IP or a new Gears.

As far as i'm concerned, Gears is a shooter above anything else. It's a clear-cut winner, there's simply no rival. Mind you, I am only referring to the multiplayer. Unfortunately, the experience is marred by inconsistent online playability and a couple of annoying gameplay elements. I HATE 2-piece, it simply ruins the game. A melee should stun or inflict partial damage, NOT BOTH! Most people agree that getting sucked into a chainsaw is enough to make you want to smash your TV!
Also, why don't Epic just allow you to 'tie' the map during matchmaking? They've created an annoying mini-game, with players waiting until the last second to tie up the 2 maps that nobody wants to play. Just give us a 'tie map' option!
The menu screens are a big gripe as well. They often don't load when you ask them to, it seems to me as though the underlying code is written badly. Gears of lag anyone?!
If Gears 3 was a perfect version of Gears 2 and didn't suffer from lag, that would almost be enough to warrant a sequel. Of course, we all want more! It is crucial, that whatever Epic decide to do, the system has to be robust, it has to work - it has to be fair! It seems ridiculous to ruin such a great game because it simply doesn't run smoothly.
Make the chainsaw bayonet an attachment that spawns on the map and allow it to be coupled with any weapon. How about that for an idea?
I think the next Gears will be a prequel to fill in a lot of the gaps. It may also add to the emotional charge that Epic want to persue by covering the death of Dom's brother. The firing of the hammer of dawn, killing the majority of humanity is also a particularly harrowing tale.
Gears 3 would need to be quite a bit tone change, with all the humans having migrated to the island of Vectes. Maybe some Gears vs. Stranded combat might make a nice change, actually.
PS3_fanboy i am not a massive fan of Gears of War,(talking offline only here)i thought the first was so-so(good graphics),but i enjoyed the second one much more,the story was much better..so i am looking forward to the third

There is a rumour going around, that it could be a joint project with Platinum Games. If it is, then it may be that horror game Cliffy B talked about ages ago. A Gears prequel would be more awesome though.

I got a 360 just to play Forza 2 over a year ago now off ebay, and with it came Gears Of War.I was so glad, because I thought it was an amazing game and I liked the second installment even more and can't wait for the third, maybe it'll be released in time for christmas?!

Havent seen you stirring it in any God of War, MAG or GT5 article, ill need to keep a closer eye on them in the future, just to see how far you 'stir it'.
gears 1 was the reason i bought the 360 in the first place, gears 2 was sweet as hell and gears 3 can't come soon enough. the only reason i'm hanging on to my 360 (and the fact that i could sell my undercrackers on ebay and get more for them than i could for my 360).

I agree with most of what you said.
However, being a little b!tch with chainsaw ambushry is the only thing that gets me through the dirty Mexican hosted games where your shotgun bullets only come out 3 seconds after you pull the trigger.
Great game, marred by lag. And the Hammerburst, that 3-shot crap has no right being in Gears of War. Really winds me up that losers just active it all the time to get ridiculously cheap kills. If you wanna stand there and just shoot an assault rifle, p**s off onto Modern Warfare. Goddamn bums.

Are you stoned? Halo 3 was the best in the series and I prefer Gears 2 over Gears 1. Killzone 2 was bottom and probably the blandest FPS I've ever played, Uncharted 2 does rock though so I'll give you that.....Marco!......go one say it...
To date this remains one of my favourite moments in "GoW 2". It probably has more impact when you are playing the game and reach this part. It had me laughing:

P.S. In general you are still allowed to turn right on a red light signal in the US, although I recall reading a news story some years back that some US cities are changing this. Perhaps it was only in Los Angeles in order for the cops to pull in more money for the state's coffers under the guise of being in the interest of public safety. I didn't experience any problems with being able to turn right on red when I lived in California.

but in all honestly, this year microsoft are gonna deliver an hit back hard at the ps3, which imo they need to after 2009.
my 2010 gaming career gets in to swing in about an hour when the mrs goes to work and I fire up mass effect two, and if it was to end with gears three I would be utterly delighted, my only concern is will microsoft really really want to push gears an halo out in the same quarter?? I dunno....
