Halo Reach screens explosion

Bungie releases official screens and art - but you've probably seen them before
Bungie's launched a Halo Reach screenshot and artwork assault on its official site. You don't have to go there though; because we've nicked them all.

Most of the images here you would've already seen from the plethora of scans and leaks that've swamped the internet over the last month - but at least they're hi-res and don't have dirty great watermarks on them.

Bungie's also launched the 'Personal' page on its site, which talks in little detail about the Spartan Squad you'll be ordering about in the game.

A few nice screenshots there. I particularly like the mist effects on a couple of them. Reminds me of Body Harvest.

I'd love for R* to do another Body Harvest...

Anyway, Halo Reach is looking decent.

the terrain looks soo cheap :S, but everything else looks ok.

GOD-DAMN YOU HALO I WANT TO LIKE YOU, HONESTLY!
feedel on 27 Jan '10
yer iv noticed that but then agian its the same thing for UC2 the graphics for the charecter looks awsome but some of the texture for the ground look crap or strange
weker on 27 Jan '10
Looks more darker and shiner than H3. What about animations, AI and the same physics since H1, will they change it? Otherwise it'll be very avarage like last two Halos.

its a brand new engine as far as i am aware so everything should be new, doesn't mean it will be better though. graphically it looks like a massive jump from halo 3 and i have read rumours that these shots are from an early build so should look a lot better come release time.

This is the first Halo game reveal I've looked at and thought that it actually looked pretty good. Wonder if those are new skins for the jackal enemies. Certainly does look a lot darker, which in my opinion suits the mood of the story perfectly, compared to all of the other halo games.
Typheous on 27 Jan '10
Just to clarify for everyone...

Bungie have stated that these shots were taken from a build they were using back in November of last year. They have stated this was a pre-alpha build, with alot of placeholder props and non complete texture work, also several lighting models have yet to be implemented.

They are called 'skirmishers' they are a cousin race of the Jackal's.

From what little I have gleaned they seem to act very differently from Jackals, alot more offensive, one swedish magazine, game reactor, described them as 'fast moving jumping from roof top to roof top'

Skirmishers are going to be a fun bunch throughout Legendary Campaign...

Thank Bungie for 4-way co-op.

Xbox 360 starting to look tasty after a few years of drout, maybe get one to play Mass Effect 2 and Halo Reach.

Halo is one of my favorite gaming franchises, I hope they still incorparate 2 player split screen co-op and also add in the ability to look down the gun COD style.

Should sell bucketloads but I fear ODTS has done the series some damage.

Its ODST by the way... Orbital Drop Shock Trooper.

I don't think it has done Halo any damage at all, it should have been seen as an add on to H3 as it was originally planned to be, but in typical Bungie style they just kept taking it up a notch until it became a game in itself. People also need to remember it took a very small Bungie team less than a year to make ODST.

Personally I see ODST almost as a test bed for alot of the things Bungie wanted to bring into Reach...

ODST was a test bed to see how many morons would buy a shockingly average game based on name alone.

You may not have enjoyed it (or are basing your opinions on other people's comments), but I am certainly not the only one who did.

Was it better than Halo 3? No.
Did it have an enjoyable campaign? Yes.
Is Firefight one of the most entertaining co-op games around? Yes.
Was it worth the money considering it was a tenner cheaper than standard Halo 3 was at release? Most certainly.

Guess what, people like Halo games and it turns out that Bungie are quite good at making them. Get over it.

Personally (and I know i'm in the minority) I think the Halo franchise has gone down hill since the original. I loved the first game, boy was it an eye-opener! Halo 2 was my biggest gaming disappointment to date and Bungie kept on rolling out the turd. I can't wait for the reins to be handed over to another developer. Bungie are unoriginal, repetitive and below par. Where the f*** is Master Chief?! Who gives a s*** about any UNSC troopers? Dual-wielding is the lamest developer creation ever. It's utterly uninspiring.

Bungie, you never knew what you had with the original game, that you have made abundantly clear. Idiots, the bloody lot of you. Good riddens.

So im a 'moron' Mark? Cool.

Are you one of the 'real' Gamers that bought GT5: Prologue? Wish I was cool like you.

Some old bollocks

I'm pretty sure he thinks he's just saying this to get a rise out of people. Underneath, though, he probably means it, so he's fully welcome to the backchat.

At the end of the day, no amount of negativity towards games I like (and I assume you're the same, Stonecold) will make me enjoy them any less. I'll make my own mind up about it, thanks.

I just feel a bit sorry for those who relentlessly attack games they don't like (whether they've played them or not). Their arrogance deprives them of enjoyment, which is just a bit sad.

Well I liked it, and thought it was much better than average. In fact I enjoyed it a lot. I could of course reply with some kind of attack on your character for liking a game, but that would be rather childish now wouldn’t it?

You have often said you dislike it so most people on this site will now know that, so why do you keep coming back and having a little bitch about it? As it makes you look like a little brat with an obsessive hatred that borders on the insane. Though to be quite honest, it is reasonably amusing when you have your off days on here and go on little seemingly anti Microsoft crusades!

My my, you on the blob at the moment Mark?

Anyways, name me a better sandbox FPS released last year?

Oh thats right there wasn't one.
Shabozi on 27 Jan '10
ODST was a good enough game for me, I'd never really played Halo 3 MP, so the maps were welcome. It's the type of game that would really suit Games on Demand and a £19.99 price point, for just the campaign.

I got more out of it than I did MW2 and paid just under £30 on release (for ODST). I was happy enough and firefight is good fun and it's a blast going back over the levels co-op and on live.

They could've made the streets a bit more interesting and made that more of a random battleground though.
ricflair on 27 Jan '10
Agreed- I enjoyed ODST although it was blatently an expansion of Halo 3- and could've been a tenner less when it was released- but I've got my moneys worth through firefight alone.

I'm not too bothered if it's just more of the same as I love the Halo games as they always feel fresh and fun to play- I'm sure the PS3 fanboys are looking forward to more Gran Turismo and God of War- though I doubt there's a lot of change there either.

Dunno what it is- but gunning down Covenant on legendary difficulty is always a blast. ODST was a game for Halo fans, nothing more nothing less.

Now I'm off to play some more Uncharted 2.
