Here's the latest movie drop for Risen, the RPG adventure coming this Friday for PC and 360. The Medieval RPG was refused classification by the Australian ratings body because many of the characters in the game smoke a fictional drug called brugleweed, which sounds like wicked fun to us.

Have there been any reviews of this yet? I’m mildly intrigued by it, yet have heard next to nothing which does not instil a great feeling for its calibre.
I believe there's been 1 English review so far - 84% i think, but the text was very positive. If you liked Gothic 1 and 2 (forgetting about the very poor third one) then you'll likely love this game. If you haven't played them but like the idea of a third person story led rpg in an original(ish) fantasy setting then likewise. Pirahna Bytes games tend to be pretty unforgiving to begin with, but well worth the effort! Needless to say I'll be picking this up on Friday and fully expect it to be my personal game of the year!
That shows you nothing of the game or the story. totally pointless. Less inclined towards this after Publisher Deep Silvers last publishing effort Sacred 2. What a dog that was and still is. I know it's a different dev but the publisher has Q and A department that seemed to have missed all the bugs in that.

Apparently the true successor to the "Gothic" series is "Arcania: A Gothic Tale". I'm not sure about "Risen"; I'm interested but not sold yet and I would like to read several in-depth reviews, and perhaps some gameplay videos too for good measure, before deciding - if it's on the cheap it's easier to justify as an experiment/impulse purchase.
Tempted to buy this on Friday, very tempted as there's not much coming out recently I'm interested in, and I really need something new.
Considering how buggy Gothic 3 was (but a great and substantial game fully patched up) on release I think I'll hold off for this and wait for a patch if it needs it and a few user reviews.
