Infinite Ward: CoD4 cheat days are numbered

Cheat-killing patch incoming
Infinity Wards is preparing to release a patch for Call of Duty 4 on 360 that aims to eliminate cheaters - presumably in the multiplayer mode.

Infinity Ward's community man Robert Bowling revealed: "A patch is in the works to eliminate the cheaters in COD4 on Xbox360," adding that the patch was currently going through certification.

The Twitter post, for obvious reasons, didn't detail exactly what's being fixed, Bowling only saying: "Cheaters days are numbered."

It's only taken them a year and half then...

why cant you cheat on ps3?

and why dont they give the ps3 the trophy and rumble patch?!

they dont get too much respect for that. especially when wasting their time on this menial s**te... as said, years later. and with their new game just months away Shocked

there is too much polish in CoD, its dead shiney. i like the battlefield old-school feel better. and the HDR sound is leagues ahead.

Come on take it easy on Infinity Ward, they've given you 1 of the best games you're ever likely to have played and didn't rip us off with all that DLC s**t like Halo has done. I hate the cheaters too but sometimes it can make things more interesting especially when it comes to the online banter 'Twisted Evil'

i still dont get how people can think its so great?

Its so scripted and linear i never finished the single player. Online is boring as well.

This is of course my opinion and i respect that other people like it.......for some strange reason lol

As far as i know , you can cheat on the PS3. There's loads of glitches on this game (some good, some bad), but i totally agree with you on the rumble side of things. It feels a little unfinished to me and i reckon it could've been easily implemented into a patch.

i payed £7 or whatever is was for the maps. i have only used 2 of the 4 maps, and only one time each.

the random nature of map picking, and the split users with them, means they never come up.

its the biggest wasted DLC ive bought for any of my ps3 games.

C'mon CVG, it's Infinity Ward. Not Infinite Ward or Infinity Wards. I know times have changed since you used to have ye olde yellow bog roll paper in the middle of your mags, but wake up lol n keep up the good work.

As for the cheats, I believe Robert Bowling from Infinity Ward is referring to some people who use aim bots and also the use of controllers designed for the game with rapid fire etc. Robert posted a story on his blog a few months ago stating he'd been looking into the response time of controllers and has a mod made, this could have been looking into the whole rapid fire situation? Who knows. Your thoughts are as good as mine.
Who out there has used a cheat online in multiplayer? Do you guys know of any?
le_don on 29 Apr '09
Grasshopper, theres an option to go on Map Pack, where you can only play matches in the 4 new maps.
Pangmann on 29 Apr '09
I'm so sick of cod4 especially with all the f**king american idiots on it
stonecold77 on 29 Apr '09
Yeah you get hacks like aimbots & such.

+ there's the whole "Boosting" thing - though I suppose they'd have to get rid of CTF to stop that...

Wish Treyarch would sort out all the cheaters on WAW - like 300 out of the top 500 are all duplicates... (On Wii) LaughingRolling Eyes

How about fixing the Lag! It was fine when it was first released but the first major patch broke it. It's now Amercian = Automatic win. The lag is terrible You get the jump on someone put a whole clip into them and then they shoot you and you go down on the first bullet. When the replay comes up it show yourself running about a second behind what you saw and shows you getting ripped and more often than not, not even getting your gun up. If your lucky enough to get into a local game it's better but that doesn't happen very often even if you try to join a local game.

the whole reason why i got rid of the game and just stuck to Bad Company. hardly ever any lag in that (but the spawn point killers are nearly just as annoying)

What you described seems to be what I`am experiencing on W@W recently, and Killzone 2.

Invest in a faster connection then guys. Virgin are providing fibre optic at 10mb/s for £20 a month. What you are describing isn't anything to do with the game, or the games servers, it's your connection. If you already have a fast connection and are suffering problems then perhaps some one else in the house is using the net at the same time, which would cause lag. Or maybe you haven't put broadband filters on all of your phone lines, this would cause lag also. Hope this helps guys.

nope, i have said Virgin broadband and i never get any problems with any other game (except maybe the odd game of gears). always seemed to be when i was playing COD4 with yanks in the room, but then again aren't they supposed to be intentionally adding stuff to their modems to create this effect, in effect cheating?
ensabahnur on 29 Apr '09
I saw a bloke on the "Shipment" map, who must have been using an invincible hack/cheat, nothing anyone did could put him down. At one point he had four guys with machine guns shooting him at point blank, and he just stabbed 'em all. Rolling Eyes

But what I really hate more than cheaters, are those who jump around all the bloody time, they think they're gonna get shot less that way, but they just spoil the whole bloody atmosphere of the game.... (MadMadMad ...tw@'s)

Yeh thats true actually, a "lag switch" placed on modems. It's usually used by yank clans, stupidly annoying, relatively rare though, n 75% of the time the lag will be caused by the problems I mentioned before.

i have moded cod4/5 l4d and my avatar before and only for fun i only use them in privite games so i dont get banned and i do noscope and get headshot all the time and never miss

I remember back when I played on the PS1, all the cheat codes to skip levels or play in god mode. We all have dreams to be something greater then we are and finding a way to do it in a game is just as good as in real life. They've have taken out cheats like the ones on the PS1, but i say they need to bring them back, with so much control and rules in the real world the game world should be ours to control in what ever way we choose. How bought a game room for cheaters only that way the non cheaters could stay in their own world and the cheaters could rule in theirs!!
