Alan Wake 2? 'Wait and see', says Microsoft

Publisher teases CVG over future sequel
Microsoft has told CVG to "wait and see" if it's got a future Alan Wake sequel up its sleeve - as it calls the upcoming game "something you've never experienced before".

The psychological adventure is on track for release in the spring, and has the Xbox 360 community buzzing for its arrival.

"It's unique and gripping story - heavily influenced by pop culture classics - is brought to life using techniques reminiscent of modern movies and TV shows," Microsoft product marketing manager Laura Disney told CVG.

"The goal of Alan Wake is create an intense experience for the player, and though 'psychological thriller' might not be a genre we are used to applying to games, Alan Wake is definitely not something you've experienced before."

Speaking in our exclusive interview, Disney added: "As Robbie Bach announced at CES earlier this month, the episodic nature of Alan Wake will see DLC become available for title later in the year. As for a sequel, we'll have to wait and see..."

Microsoft are joking aren't they?
The first one is not even out yet. That would be like Sony talking about Gran Turismo 6....

To be fair, CVG have just posted the interview from which that quote is taken from and he's just stating we'll have to wait and see.

On the Official Alan Wake Forums, Remedy have already said that they see Alan Wake as just the beginning of the Story and they hope to develop it into a great Franchise, with many Games to follow.

Of course this all depends on how well the first Game sells. So its simple people, buy it Very Happy !!!

They should try and avoid throwing the words "wait and see" out there when talking about Alan Wake, we've waited long enough thanks.

"Wait and see..." Translation: "If it makes lots of money..."

This screams unfinished story to me Sad i miss the days when you paid for a product and it actually felt like the finished article. Too many companies are trying to cash in on dlc and it really is ruining half the experience for me. Still give this a go when the price goes down and the dlc is put on a disc mind Laughing
marredcriminal on 29 Jan '10
Um, get the first damn game out first please...
Thanks.

This. A sequel is all well and good, but let's not put the cart before the horse, shall we? Less talk, more action in the form of actually getting to play "Alan Wake 1".
The_KFD_Case on 29 Jan '10
So we should see the sequel in time for Christmas 2020 then. I'll pencil it in.
spacelion on 29 Jan '10
Its taken them ages to NOT release the first. Leave talk of a sequal till later guys.
Marlonjb on 29 Jan '10
Why does it seem to me that MS are stalling for time?
We've had promises of Alan Wake again and again, and yet, no finished product. Maybe they've evaluated the game and realised they need to take a new angle on the game? From what I see, the current angle is "like a TV show, but..not".
Was it not supposed to be like Silent Hill?
newsinthefield on 30 Jan '10
Not sure I want it anymore. Story based games these days allow you to shape the narrative (thanks Bioware). Alan Wake is an author trapped in one of his unfinished books but there doesn't look like there's any story shaping in there at all besides shining a torch on haunted s**t then shooting said lit-up s**t.

I really really wanted this when it was first announced. I might still get it a few months after release if the feedback is good but I've lost my stonk for it.
spam23 on 30 Jan '10
Of course its not something we have experienced before, we've been waiting 4 years for it to come out. Wait until we've actually played it and told you its good Microsoft before you start going on about effing sequels!
