Sony US has said confirmed that Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer has gone gold and revealed details on what the playable demo will feature when it's released on Feb 11.
An update on the US PlayStation Blog from product marketing manager Jefferson Dong (didn't make that one up either) beamed, "It's official! Heavy Rain has now gone gold in North America and is off to manufacturing. This PlayStation 3 exclusive, psychological thriller will be available at retail on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 (mark it on your calendar).
"Don't forget to pre-order your copy now so you will receive the first chapter of Heavy Rain Chronicles (upcoming downloadable-only episodes for Heavy Rain) at no cost, and you'll be able to download the first chapter once you've picked up your copy of Heavy Rain (otherwise, all others will need to pay $4.99 per chapter and won't be able to download until a month later - more info to come on Heavy Rain Chronicles)."
Dong said that the demo will allow players to play two chapters featuring Norman Jayden, an FBI agent brought in to help local authorities track down the Origami Killer, and Scott Shelby, a private detective hired by the families of past victims of the Origami Killer to find the serial killer.
Will that be enough to pull you in? We'll find out soon.
WTF?! Where did these Heavy Rain Chronicles come from? They had better not be cut from the main game and they'd want to offer something with regards to the main storyline and not some side character stuff!
he he Dong. There's an awesome poster in the mens toilets of beijing airport above the urinals of a sample taxi driver license. Blokes name on it is Long Dong!
Back on topic. Got mine preordered on HMV, Cann't wait.
Anyone know how good they are for getting stuff to you for release day. never used em before.

Was wondering that myself. When I preorder stuff, I generally expect it to be dispatched in time to reach me on or just after the day of release. I am frequently disappointed though.
Does the game going gold mean that there have been sufficient preorder sales to rank as such? Or does it mean something else entirely?

Just means that the disc content is finalised and it's ready to go into mass production.
I'll definitely be trying the demo to decide whether to stick with my pre-order due to all the great games being released around the same time. So much choice, one can choose to be picky!
So far HMV have been pretty damn good about getting preorders out on time(normally a day early at that!). Not sure if ill try the demo though especially if it's bits from the game. But cannot wait!!Good thing i got ME2 to keep me company for now.
