Final Fantasy creators will 'never give up on hardcore'

Crystal Chronicles Wii isn't for casuals...
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers could be seen as Square Enix's attempt to make its role playing series appeal to the Wii's casual audience but the game's director has told ONM that his games will always be challenging.

"Challenging gameplay must never be sacrificed for the sake of a wider audience," said Toshiyuki Itahana. "That's an easy way of attracting new gamers, but that way you might upset long time fans."

Amen to that! Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers is set for release on Wii on 5 February. It represents a change of direction for the series, by mixing exploration with action-packed gameplay.

You can read a review of the game plus the full interview with Toshiyuki Itahana in issue 52 of Official Nintendo Magazine which is on sale now.

this is right,no argument. however, for one of the devs of the casual oriented FFCC:tcb to say this is a bit rich.

i don't like it (i'm one of those pain in the backside long time fans) partly because square couldn't make their mind up who to pitch it at - the wii fit crowd or core gamers, partly because the combat system is depressingly shallow with no spells/summons/limit breaks/magicite etc... but mostly because the game feels like the kind of rush job ubizoft would try and pull off.

regardless of quality though the game represents all the challenge of steven hawking in a 100 metre sprint. i think you've already abondoned the core gamers Itahana-san.

i love this company thought it was bigger than nintendo legendery strory of ex nintendo president giving the square guy a kicking in the board room then dragged him to the front doors of nintendo HQ and kicked him out

TRUE STORY he did that for sucking up to sony and taking ff into fmv videos and stupidness and away from gaming and gameplay

look whos suffering now and look who was proven right NINTENDO AS ALWAYS
