Assassin's Creed 2 DLC release date nailed

Battle of Forli out next week, Ubisoft confirms
Assassin's Creed II's first download content pack, Battle of Forli, will be released on PSN and Xbox Live next week, on January 28.

Ubisoft's confirmed that the add-on pack, which adds new missions in the Romagna area, will go for 320 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360 and €3.99 on PSN.

Battle of Forli will be followed by the game's second add-on sequence, Bonfire of the Vanities, next month.

We're playing through Battle of Forli right now. Look out for our verdict on CVG next week.

Great, content that was deliberately left out of the game, is now available to buy, woo hoo.

"This part of the timeline is corrupted... it's asking for my credit card details." Razz

Yeah it wasn't exactly their most discreet deploy of DLC. Leaving Chapter 12 and 13 out of the game sort of made it obvious we'd have to pay to see it. I'll pay, only because I want another reason to go back to playing this game now I've 100%'ed it.

Anybody else think that someone in ubisoft used to peddle drugs. they get you hooked with the good stuff and then make you pay for more.

At least its not 800 points.

People who moan about paying for DLC wind me up. If it helps game companies turn out more quality games in future by returning a profit then fine. I'd rather my money went to talented game designers than being used to bail out the banks. If British game companies in particular aren't gettting the tax breaks they deserve then we should all cough up for the DLC.

If you don't like it - don't buy it, but why is the first post on all these DLC stories always from some little scrooge moaning.

Are you for real, do you really think they need money from DLC to produce these games.

If you bought a pint of beer with ten percent removed, and then asked to pay for the missing beer at a later date, do you honestly think that's right.

I'm sorry but you're deluded.

I'm far from deluded - just fed up with moaners like you.

You are deluded if you think they're releasing DLC so we can have better games, and commenting on something that is unfair and blatantly taking advantage is not 'moaning'.
ingy on 22 Jan '10
Look at the end of the day when you make a game you have to say..."right well stop there its pretty massive" and then release extra after...

I find nothing underhanded about it..they make the feckin games after all..I do however think its asking for trouble if the code is already on the disc! and then you payu to unlock it.. Mad

First, I have NO PROBLEM paying a little more to play a little more of this awesome game.

I think what is ruffling feathers (no pun intended) is that, chronologically, these sequences take place in the middle of Ezio's main quest. It ends up having the appearance of being "left out" and I respect those that feel like they're being shaken-down.

I'm actually excited for the DLC because it puts us back in Ezio in a format that already has context and doesn't feel "tacked on".

Bottom line:
Extra play would have been DLC anyway and we would have paid for it anyway... Let's all just take it at face value, be fans, and enjoy more of the great story-telling.

Cheers,
~J

I feel the same, i finished the game in 35 well spent hours. For £40 i'm well happy with that.

£45 for MW2 to finish the campaign in 7-8 hours that takes the P*** a bit to ask for more money for maps especially for the amount of money it has made.

The only thing that annoyed me with Ac2 was that you couldn't access all of the hidden areas because they were on the white/black special editions, does anyone know if these will be part of the DLC for everyone else

Stop whinging and complaining, all of you whom are. If you're english that's your lot in life to do so. Just freud euch...bee happy because we've got hours more high jinx coming in next weeks dlc to add to the tens of hours of high jinxery we've already had playing this game lool I'm quite pleased with this sudden announcement. I wasn't expecting dlc for AC2 quite so soon. Does anyone remember inFAMOUS? I think dlc whether they really are, or just a key to unlock sections on the disc help keep a title fresh. Onlinability goes much farther of course(the prologue dlc to Prince of Persia didn't seem to do much for the franchise)but as long as theyre not tossing us scraps and offcuts from the original title then I'm quite happy with dlc aHEMgta4dlconpsnCoughCough.

Played it, liked it, bored with it after 30 hours or so, sold it. Bovered.

I'm sorry but you're deluded.

BUT THE BEER WASN'T f**king MISSING!

God, it gets on my t**s.

Now, if Ubisoft had just made this DLC sequence 13 and 14 (and the other bit would become DNA sequence 12) no - one would complain!

But, because they've actually made a concious effort to tie this DLC in with the rest of the game, rather than just stick it on as some unbelievable extra at the end of the game, or have some stupid spin off story, everyone is up in arms!
lwill on 22 Jan '10
yeah

that f**ker Geoerge lucas p**ses me off too

i watched Star wars, only to find out it was Episode 4 (IV), and i'd have to watch 3 more episodes to know what really went on.

f**ks sake, AC2 was a great game, and bloody long, and any "missing" content doesn't distract from the game or story.

if they released them as episodes 15 and 16 they'd have to create a whole new storyline, which is what costs money

I might buy them both, I've nothing left to do now on that game, got the Platinum trophy about a week ago. After that, might trade it in when the first of 2010s blockbusters begin to get released, Bioshock 2 is what I'm thinking.
