PreviousHalo: Reach is Titanic of games, says Bungie Darwinia+ dev "incredibly frustrated" with MS revisions  Next

Halo: Reach will 'upset hardcore fans' - Bungie

But title will 'delight' die-hard consumers overall, says studio
Bungie has admitted that elements of Halo: Reach 'will upset hardcore fans' of the series' source material.

However, the studio has pledged that the majority of the game will 'delight' die-hard fans of book The Fall Of Reach - and that it had made the title with the affection for the novel very much in mind.

In an interview with Edge, Bungie execs said the game 'played' to events in the book.

Executive producer Joseph Tung said: "There might be certain things the hardcore fans will take issue with, but there will be other things that will make them absolutely delighted."

And creative director Marcus Lehto added:

"We are very sensitive to the Halo canon, and we are careful not to be stomping on the Halo timeline. We're playing to the events of the book, and while it's not the gameplay version of the book, that story is taking place in the background. We're following one isolated part of what's happening on Reach."

New screens and a fresh video of the game leaked this week.

Microsoft told CVG last week that the title took the Halo series to a 'new level'.

Looks like this came from the same source as the last post. Probably would have been a good idea to lump them in together.

I'm assuming he's talking about the campaign, rather than MP. As long as they don't introduce The Flood, I can't see too many people getting upset about certain changes. They've already added new weapons and the Jackals Cousins, and there was no outrage so far.

I think he's referring to things slightly conflicting with the book in terms of the story.

Yeh but then CVG wouldn't have been able to get 2 Halo 'stories' out of just one source!?!

C'mon guys think about it logically

Oh, and yes, I agree BTW Wink

And for those who are neither a hardcore fan or die-hard fan, where does that leave them?

What about giraffes? Pineapples? Robots? It doesn't mention about how they're likely to feel playing this game either, and I damn well think Bungie need to clarify this statement!

I worry this might be in reference to the multiplayer 'perk system' that has been rumoured.

Please don't clone elements of Call of Duty.

How can you not be a die-hard fan??? They're great films!!! Very Happy Seriously though, I've read Fall of Reach and as long as the game is the best they can make it, I ain't gonna be much fussed!!! As long as they do their best!!! Very Happy
