Were going through the tracks that have been uploaded and finding that plenty of people have been ignoring the guidelines that say what you can and cant upload.
This is your chance to remove any tracks that you have uploaded before we find them.
There is plenty of discussion about sampling and if its ok or not and that is not the issue.
The facts are that you are not allowed to upload anything that you do not own the copyright to or have express permission to use. Should you have permission you must also supply the proof you have permission. It does not matter how big or small a sample is or if you think you have manipulated it its still against the rules and will result in your track being removed and a warning added to your profile.
Ill leave this for a week for everyone to make any adjustments that are required. After that we'll go through the tracks ourselves and suspend profiles that still have tracks uploaded that should not be here.
Should you have any questions you can mail myself or a mod but to be fair its pretty simple, if your track contains anything that you dont have permission to use remove it or face having your account suspended. |

wow this one is gonna be a big hit for da underground hip hop producer like my self. i purchase almost all my samples but almost all my tracks are samples and i think speak for da best hip hop producer's on da site for real. that means almost every one of my tracks is sample and so is N18TH and lot of other dope producers. but i wanna be clearified properly before making any adjustments. although i do have lots and lots of dope self compose tracks to come, just waiting for da right time to drop dem. but i wanna know more in details about this and i have read da guidelines but still dnt have full permission to sample any one's track not even on looperman. just wanna know more about this looperman. |

i dont realy know where all this came from? as it happens all my tracks are ok, but to say not to load anything that you dont own is a bit steep,as you can use things from a comercial comerse liecence ie acapellas ect, but you wont actualy own them but they are fine for remixing? if your not using anything other then for mixing then i dont see the problem? the problem only starts when you try to use stuff for comercial gain and you dont actualy own everthing in the track, otherwise i dont see the problem people are more than welcome to down load my stuff cut and chop remix whatever to me its a compliment thats what its all about iam a realist and this is just a hobby? i dont believe for one moment i will ever make anything from it? if you think that your gonna be a major star then maybe you shouldnt put any work out for download then everyone can just download my crap lol and we can all be happy :0) |

when you buy a sample pack. you have permission to use it so its no prob. BeatMasterDoubleR.. |
|
|
It says generally on the sites that you buy loop packs from that you are free to use them to create your music and sell it commercially even. Sometimes there are stipulations if you've only downloaded their sample packs.. but if you bought them you should be safe. Just supply some sort of proof with the description of the track. |
|
|
Let me just clarify here again.
Also remember the words samples, loops, soundbites are often used in place of each other and easily confused but to make things simple take them as they mean the same thing.
Here is what you are NOT allowed to upload here.
Tracks that contain the following....
- samples or loops or soundbytes taken from another persons track without their permission. This applies to other members tracks as well as tracks commercially or non commercially available. you dont own the copyright or have permission
- Samples, loops, soundbites taken from films, tv etc. you dont own the copyright or have permission.
- You cant upload a remix of a track that you dont have permission to remix and distribute
- you cant upload a track with an acapella where the original artist did not give you permission (acapellas on looperman give you permission to use non comercially)
- you can not upload a mashup or tracks without everyones permission
Heres what you CAN upload.
Tracks that contain the following ...
- sounds, loops, samples etc that you played, sang, created yourself
- sounds, loops, samples etc that you downloaded from the loops section of this site or any other royalty free sample site.
- sounds, loops, samples etc that you paid for from a sample cd or from a site selling you the licence to use their sounds
- sounds, samples, loops etc that you were given permission to use by the original artist or the company that represents them.
If everyone took a moment to read the guidelines on each section of the site its made very clear what you can and cant do so I dont know why we keep having this discussion.
This is written on the acapellas page
######
The copyright of all acapellas listed here is owned by the member who uploaded them. You are allowed to use any acapellas listed here in any non commercial project. For commercial use of any acapella please contact the original artist to make arrangements.

This is written on the faq page regards loops
######
The rules of looperman are pretty simple.. When uploading loops to the site you must own the copyright (eg you created the loop and didn't sample it from somewhere else) and you allow anyone to then download and use your loops in their own projects royalty free. Although we can not be 110% sure that everyone follows the rules to the letter we do our best to vet any loops uploaded and encourage our members to report anything that they feel may be a problem. So, back to the original question .. Are the loops on looperman.com royalty free ? basically yes although we do ask that you give credit where its due. This does not have to be by paying anything but simply by crediting the author of any loops you may have used and also looperman.com. This is not compulsory but more a good will gesture. If you do end up making millions then it would not be a bad thing to pass on a donation too but that's up to you.
Although you may use the loops and samples on looperman.com in your projects royalty free there are situations where by you may not use them. These are as follows.
* You are not allowed to include the files as part of a sample cd that you either offer for sale or for free
* You may not post files to your own or any other website for others to download
* You may not distribute them via any file sharing system or torrent site.
* You may not claim copyright of any file that is not your own
######
On the tracks upload page its clearly says this
#####
- Only upload tracks that you made yourself
- We dont accept mashups , remixes or any track that contains uncleared samples
- We do accept remixes of other members tracks where the original artist has given their consent beforehand
- Tracks should be saved as 44Khz 128Kbps MP3 format (7.0 mb max file size)
- Please try and choose the best genre available for your tracks
- Posting tracks that contain offensive, racist, sexualy explicit or otherwise abusive material will be removed and the user may have their account suspended. This includes battle type tracks or those aimed at offending other users.
- Although your tracks are instantly available on the site if its later reported to be in breach of any of the guidelines it will be removed and the users account may face suspension
####
Also Ill just remind everyone that none of this is a new thing. These guidelines have been in place the whole time.
The only thing that has changed is the amount of complaints ive received about things that should never have been uploaded in the first place.

shan how will you know which samples are from sample packs and which ones are from purchased sample packs? |
|
|
i now understand and am really happy because there is only 2 tracks i have uploaded here that i did not pay for da sample. got da sample from da site bonesrecords recomended and it even on my title of da track and da one i sample from da jay roc boys also. so all fan's of my work dont have to worry about anything. i paid cash for all my sample tracks from samples site, so i guess i have permission to sample dem. so gonna continue doin what i do best[ sampling[lol]. thnx guys for da clearification |
|
|
when it comes to purchased sample packs we have no choice but to trust you all as there is no way for us to tell.
When it comes to people sampling something like Jayz , RunDMC or Mr. T its pretty obvious.
If you use something that may cause your track to be flagged as a potential problem then just make sure you have mentioned your sources in your description
Again, I don't want to spend my life chasing people for copyright infringement so everyone just use common sense when uploading tracks. |
|
|
well shan in case your wondering i just removed all of 1 tracks for the "illegal" sampeling issue. The rest are legit |
|
|
i done mine too and i do have full hand prove of da rest of my sample tracks, receit, date of purchase from site, etc if u need dem. |
|
|
What I think one of tha main things looperman is talking about is that if you have sampled something from, lets say like the Jackson 5 or Stevie Wonder, and you did not get permission to use their song to sample, then that track needs to be deleted. If thats the case, there's a whole lot people that are gonna be deleting their tracks.

great..
now if we could get everyone else to do this and everyone else to keep an eye on tracks that get uploaded and help police the situation everything would tick along great and I would be able to spend time on doing things that make the place better rather then chasing things that cause problems.
It does my head in to be the bad cop and try and keep things in order and im not against people being creative and sampling whatever but in order to protect the site there has to be rules and they have to be stuck to |
|
|
Its a rough situation id say but regardless, pretty clear.. if you got permission ahead of time (which i have) then you in the clear right?.. which is why i dont like using samples all that much.. i think it takes more talent to compose a piece from scratch... samplings still a lost art so im not against it.. id just rather push my creatives limits.. good luck with this task looperman.. im sure everyone will comply.. |
|

I thought that one of my tracks 'Total Madness' featuring a voice clip from the movie 300 ('This is SPARTA') would be infringing copyright, but i checked with other people on youtube who had made similar mixes, and they said that the woice sample was widley used, and fell under the duration of 10 seconds. Furthermore this track is not released under any liscence, therefore holding the particular sample free from any copyright claims. However, i will check with the acctual company. |

Just Curious, how old does stuff have to be before it's in the free domain? |
|
|
This just gave me an idea to see what my finished tracks sound like when I mute the uncleared samples on the master track. |
|
|
OK, acapellas on the site are for us to use for non commercial use. But in the event that the owner of the acapella doenst not care for your work, then can the permission to use for non commercial use is not applicable anymore? Had this happen to me, used an acapelaa for the section. Then, sice the owner of the acapella did not like it, I had to remove it? Hows that work? Its ok to use, as long as the owner of the acapella likes it? |

waw!! this is big!!
hmm... |
|
|
@DextDee-Yea, bro. I already deleted every sample track I had. But its all good tho. My original tracks are just as good as tha ones I sampled.

@ Dynamite I know exactly the situation you are talking about. Thats funny stuff. I see your point exactly though. |
|
|
@CWarren to me i know it is clariffied, but the thing is, i do not sample, i do them from scratch! the furthest i go is to use a single loop and i either build arround it or take it out later after i have what i want. so i am still hmm-ing about the tracks i have, they are all practically from scratch. and then my fts with DustHill and Raykayfoed, insane, etc etc, i know it is clearified that those are ok but still, hmm.... |
|
|
when did this forum turn into words againt each other. shan already explain it clear and simple. you purchase samples from ligit sample sites den it kool to sample tracks, because the site must have right to sell dem to us any ways. if anyone sue me i sue da sites i purchase my samples parks from. simple as that. i already uploaded few tracks that i done by my self and are dope matter of fact am gonna upload one right. took it off but am gonna bring it bk. show that i do make dope self compose tracks. let dont argue about this please. i think this site is still jamin. look around they are new dope producer's comin to da site everyday. open your eyes people, one go one comes simple as |
|
|
@DextDee-OK. I was just replyin' to tha part where u say "this is big!! LOL because I had some tight sample tracks that needed to be removed. I really don't sample that much either u know. All my stuff is original or I'll let u know in the description if I've sampled anything.
@BeatMasterDoubleR-Yea, that was Jersey that snapped again.

dam this rule is truely going to kill the real hiphop heads. Looks like im gona have to erase my profile pretty soon and i just came back too. im not affraid to say it. i use samples from bob james, barry white, the sun band, light orchestra, i mean i really can go on all day but the thing is i FLIP the sample. i dont LOOP it i re arragne little bits here and there, change the pitch, filter it to make it not sound like the orginal at all and make it sound like that REAL HIPHOP from the golden era. the thing is i dont even sell the beats i sample i just show people for the sake of hiphop. i dont want it to die. i do make beats without samples but i sell. i post beats for the people. |
