Counter-Strike 2 petition hits Facebook

Group protests to 'keep the best FPS in history alive'
A Facebook group has been set up to petition Valve to develop Counter-Strike 2.

The group, which you can find here, wishes to 'save the best FPS in history from fading away'.

Organiser Sam England told CVG today:

"I am sure we will be able to make history here, if we keep it up. Let's keep the best FPS in history alive."

The group hit 300 members this week.

Who knows? Valve might just take a look. So long as they're not too busy winning awards, that is.

Erm, aren't they working on a sequel anyway. I'm sure they hinted that way on gttv: http://www.gametrailers.com/episode/gametrailers-tv/67?ch=1&sd=0 .

So, all this group wants is to try and get some recognition and freebies like the L4D2 boycott people did? For something that's probably already happening without their nonsensical input.

That's one of the better initiatives I've come across from the gaming community. As a long time CS player myself, I would be sad to see CS fade from view and I would be thrilled to see a refreshed version released, possibly with some new functions, maps, weapons and aspects to the game play as well. Smile

As a very long term cs player (and cs:s) i think it's about time they 'reboot'(thanks cvg Smile) the series. It's the best core gamers FPS out there. Nothing can rival it. NOTHING.

i've been playing since cs 1.2.

I think a new CS game is due don't ya think?

jesus.

think they will once valve get off their work shy bottoms and make a new halflife/engine. I played css briefly last night its still fun

I'm guessing these people also want the classic SAS and Phoenix models to be replaced with Rage Against the Machine bandmembers.

I find all these Facebook petitions pretty juvenile, if I'm honest.

That said, I would like a CS2, but if the demand is there, it will be made. You don't need a group of whingers to tell that to Valve.

...or they could find an existing SDK and make a mod themselves. Smile
kimoak on 15 Jan '10
How could they possibly make a reboot? What could they possibly do to it? New weapons/maps/gametypes? Er... Hello? Mods?
The only thing they can possibly do is re-release it with updated graphics. They've got to sort out their new engine first.

Quick, tell the Metro! They love printing articles mentioning Facebook groups...

How about Episode 3 first... instead of CS2? Or maybe both...... .... . Too much to ask for???
liquidsoap89 on 15 Jan '10
They can do both. So long as they're given 10 years.
Desaima on 15 Jan '10
They'd have to try and to the orange box. Ep3, CS2 and portal 2?
