North America's bestselling games of 2009 are...

Modern Warfare 2 on console, of course, while The Sims beats World Of Warcraft on PC
The NPD Group has revealed the top-selling North American console and PC games of 2009.

On the console front it's no surprise that Modern Warfare 2 dominated - it has now become the fourth bestselling game of all time in the US. NPD says that three of the top ten US games of all time are Call Of Duty titles.

The Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 2 headed the annual chart, while the PS3 edition placed eighth. Sandwiched between the pair were SIX first party Nintendo Wii games, three of which weren't even released in 2009.

Honourable mentions must also go to Halo 3: ODST and Pokemon Platinum, which placed ninth and tenth respectively.

01. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision, Xbox 360)
02. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo, Wii)
03. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo, Wii)
04. Wii Fit (Nintendo, Wii)
05. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo, Wii)
06. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo, Wii)

08. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision, PS3)
09. Halo 3: ODST (Microsoft, Xbox 360)
10. Pokemon Platinum (Nintendo, DS)

Sims and World Of Warcraft games ruled the PC chart, taking six of the top ten spots, while only one game that wasn't published by EA or Activision made the list.

The Sims 3 was the year's bestseller, ahead of World Of Warcraft expansion Wrath Of The Lich King. Modern Warfare 2 placed fifth, Spore and Dragon Age: Origins charted eighth and ninth respectively, while Sega's Empire: Total War came tenth.

01. The Sims 3 (Electronic Arts)
02. World Of Warcraft: Wrath Of The Lich King (Activision)
03. The Sims 2 Double Deluxe (Electronic Arts)
04. World Of Warcraft: Battle Chest (Activision)
05. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision)

The Wii dominates the all format top ten(Ninty are really raking in it in these days), and the PC chart is all Sims and WOWs(how very very sad). Neutral
