The Sims game coming to console

EA boss Riccitiello lets news slip in conference call

Fans of The Sims, rejoice - EA CEO John Riccitiello has revealed that a new game from the series will be hitting console shortly.

Speaking to investors in a conference call last night, Riccitiello let slip that a new Sims game would arrive on home systems (no mention of which ones) this 'fiscal year'. That's before next summer, for those of you that don't work on Wall Street.

The news came as the EA boss talked up the firm's "fabulous" release slate for this year.

He said: "Looking at fiscal '11... I think we've got a fabulous title plan. We've got a great new Medal Of Honor, a revitalised Need For Speed, Sims on console, FIFA in a World Cup year, an innovative and new take on Madden, Dead Space 2, Crysis at full margins, a new MMA game and many others."

Our bet's on a 360 and PS3 version - both consoles have been starved of the franchise thus far, while DS and Wii owners have had the MySims series to get their gaming teeth into.

We've put a line into EA for more details.
