Dry your eyes, Metroid people. The Metroid Prime Trilogy may have already been discontinued, but Metroid: Other M - which looks fricking awesome by the way - will be out this year, Nintendo has confirmed.
"The next highly anticipated offering in the Metroid franchise is Metroid: Other M, which will be available this year," Nintendo big man Reggie Fils-Aime told G4.

Sure, that's still pretty vague. But when Reggie says the game comes as part of Nintendo's plan to "place Samus back in the more traditional lineage of Metroid", we get all excited talking about it.
So that's Super Mario Galaxy 2, new Zelda and Metroid all this year. Ownage.

Are we really going to get a new Metroid, Zelda and Mario in the last quarter of 2010? If Nintendo had spread these out, perhaps there wouldn't have been so much bitching about them 'abandoning the core fans'.
But still, looks like my wii is going to be getting alot more playing time in 2010 than 2009. Can't wait!

What the hell was that? I am out of my skull, who is that other female? The one with the short hair, was that Samus? The short hair looks great if it is her, the gameplay look very interesting, like what a Mega Man game should have been. No more bump damage from enemies, I always hated that idea in video games, so flippin' ridiculous it's such an archaic design. Anyway this game look incredible, I hope you get suit upgrades, that basic outfit, looks nice, but not badass like the Varia Suit online one. Oh man I can't wait, mmmm goodies. The battles seems pretty interesting, I swear Ridley must be a close, that fool appears in EVERY Metroid game. Is he a central nexxus or something?
This is one of the three Wii games in 2010 I'm really interested in (assuming that SMG2 and the new Zelda actually make it out this year), but is also the one of the three I'm most concerned about. Team Ninja are not the developer they once were (but at least now that Itakagi has left we may be spared the ridiculous breast physics), so I just hope that the Nintendo side of Project M keep a very close eye on the quality.
I would love to see a full 2D Metroid reboot though - not retro style, a la Megaman 9, but brought bang up to date, like Shadow Complex.
