God Of War Trilogy - a £110 GAME exclusive

You can only get it from one place - and pay one price, CVG reveals
The eagerly anticipated God Of War Trilogy will be exclusively sold through GAME and its subsidiary Gamestation in the UK, CVG can reveal.

That spells bad news for bargain-hunting consumers - as both retailers were listing the pack for a whopping £110 earlier in the week.

Sony confirmed the news about GAME's exclusive deal to us earlier today.

Unfortunately, as pricey as the pack undoubtedly is, it does look pretty special for GoW fans.

Not only does it contain God Of War III and HD re-makes of the first two titles in the series - but it boasts an artbook, soundtrack and a plethora of in-game extras, all contained in a sculpted Pandora's Box.

But is it really worth over a ton? Have any of you imported it from the US?

You tell us, readers...

How mooooch? Any chance of just selling it with the artbook?
MrPirtniw on 13 Jan '10
gamestation used to be quite good for trading games, then blockbuster bought it and it went down hill and alot more expensive, then game bought it and its a pile of poo now, just as skank as game,
Game are the worst game shop in history....
and no even tho i really want it, i won't buy it from them at that price, and sony are doing themselves out of sales by making it exclusive to them.... is it worth getting 1000 people buying a game at £110? when you could get hundreds of thousands more sales if its available everywhere, and companies are competing?

MW2 has proved if its good it will sell, they just passed $1b sales, and over here it was available for £26 for a little while, but people are still buying it now.

the big question i suppose is are they allowed to sell it exclusively? isnt it against anti-competition laws or something??

all in all tho i suppose you'll still get it alot cheaper via ebay or something as it can be imported

screw you game, bad bad sony!!

Any1 know what those in game extras might be?
Sleepaphobic on 13 Jan '10
Seems like a blatant rip-off. Granted, you get the two older games in HD but at 110 quid you are essentially paying a "new release" price for each title. Not a good deal by an imperial mile.
The_KFD_Case on 13 Jan '10
Forget it, I'll stick to the PS2 for episodes 1 & 2. Confused
steve_2003 on 13 Jan '10
This is only for the special edition .You can still buy the normal games every where else .

Will the God of war 1+2 pack be coming to the Uk seperately? or will you either have to buy this or import? Neutral
stedman on 13 Jan '10
Didn't GAME state that their takeover of Gamestation would still encourage competition between the 2 stores? Whatever...

It's no wonder i buy more & more online & elsewhere now.

Robbing F***ers.
iamthelloyd on 13 Jan '10
Why do companys do these kind of deals?
Would it not be better to have a game in as many chain stores/supermarkets as they can.
£110 is way to much, thats around £35 a game. Ok GoW 1+2 are HD updates, but GoW 1 is about 5 years old!

It's coming to the UK seperately as well. You can import it now from the US for about £28 if you want.

Such a cheap game can't be sold with that price. Evil or Very Mad

I thought that when I saw the price. However, I read something that someone else had said on another site that made sense - you actually get a pretty good deal.

You get GOW3 - so, you could say that was £40. You get the updated GOW1 & 2 - which is about £30 on import. You also get something like 3 music CDs and artbooks. Add on the exclusive content and the packaging and it's probably a fairly decent deal for a die-hard GOW fan, which is really who it's aimed for - it's not something I'd ever consider buying, but I doubt there'll actually be too many of these floating around.

It's a shame they allowed GAME exclusivity though - if this was also available on Play, Amazon and the others - it'd already be at least £10 cheaper.

This is what comes from a large majority of casual gamers not supporting indie companys, I work for an indie company and we go out of our way to help customers and too get import games that customers want, e.g deom souls, GOW collection, we've been selling the GoW collection for a while now and if we could we would love to sell the ultimate edition but Game get given these rights because people who dont know about gaming go to companys like that and give them huge profits
blitzpoisonpunk on 13 Jan '10
Knowing Game, they'll be flogging it for half that in a month or two's time. Wink

I doubt it! Game are robbing tossers the only people mug enough to use Game is the parents who don't have a fecking clue about gaming and its happened to gamestation the once indie store has become a mainstream rip-off centre! online shopping ftw.
dangermou5e on 14 Jan '10
Yeah complete rip of! I have bought so many limited edition games now and not one has been worth it! From now on I am sticking to standard editions only!
Also I cannot believe people still go to the high street stores for their consoles and games when on-line stores are so much cheaper and better! I always use play and if you pre-order you usually receive the game a day early!
When it comes to the massive multi format titles like Fifa and Modern Warfare 2 I have learnt over the years that it is always best going to the supermarkets for these titles as they are usually literately giving them away, I mean £26 for modern warfare 2 from Sainsbury's was an absolute bargain when you consider you wont even get that pre-owned from gamestation now!
Sexy Amit on 14 Jan '10
ah gamestation. how far you've fallen. I remember when you almost a local game shop. You sold Bleem and people worked there that actually had a clue about gaming.

f**k game support your local indie game shops. More often than not they'll sell you stuff cheaper, are fairer when you trade games in and will import/ order stuff for you if they can.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 14 Jan '10
all you ps3 owners are nobs if you buy this...

i loved the first 2, but, i mean c'mon....i know its hard to get a copy of GOW 1 & 2 on ps2 thesedays but dont be foolish...
skabone on 14 Jan '10
Buy it or Kratos will rip your head off...

On a serious note, GOD OF F*CKING WAR!!!!!!! Very Happy

I got the collection from VGP+ for £26! Now this comes along at a bloody huge price and what for? The collection (again) and artbook and music CDs and game 3? Plus a plastic(no doubt) pandoras box? Um...no way hosey...this will be selling for cheapo like GTA4 collectors ed does in 6 months as no one is going to pay £110 for that!
skidpro on 14 Jan '10
This thread goes a long way in explaining why shares in Game PLC have nearly halved over the past 2 months! I like GOW , but not gonna pay effectively an extra £40 for 3 CDs that I'll never listen to, and artwork I'll flip through once! Extra in-game content is nice, but I hope GOW3 will be great enough without it.
