Sony has told CVG that the reported delay of Gran Turismo 5 is "only applicable for the Japanese market" - the only territory where the game had been given an official date.
"This information on the GT release is only applicable for the Japanese market," a Sony rep told CVG this morning following reports that the flagship racer's planned March release in Japan had been delayed indefinitely.

Delayed in the biggest market they have? What happened to them saying they could release it anytime they wanted? Forget about this one in the first half of 2010 world wide. Pretty funny though.
The only reason it's only applicable to Japan is that it's the only territory that actually had a release confirmed. You can't delay a release that doesn't have a release date

Yeah - no pressure, taking their time on perfecting it. Not like any studio related to MS - they work 25 hours a day and are fed on a diet of toilet water and air-biscuits.

So basically it has been delayed elsewhere as well, but because Japan is the only place that had been given a release they then can technically say no where else is affected
Haven’t they been saying the game is finished for some time though? Perhaps it is a production problem, as they reported to Reuters, and if it is only pushed back a month then that is quite plausible.
It would be strange for it to be pushed back for a simultaneous worldwide release though, as all that’s going to at this point is annoy the Japanese market, seeing as it was never pencilled in for a worldwide release before.
They’ve had plenty of time to figure out if they’re understaffed or not, that really isn’t an excuse they can use.

They could release it tomorrow and no one could claim it was rushed after 5 years in development.
Listen to everybody moan, most of which probably don't even have a PS3 or want one for that matter but love to jump on any slightly negative news about the ps3.

there is muttering that it could be delayed in Japan 1) for a worldwide release 2) to be released alongside sony's new range of 3D tv's as their flagship 3D title 3) surely it's sensible as Final Fantasy Versus is scheduled for March is it not?
It won't be a worldwide release, that stuff hardly ever happens these days. But if the Jap release gets delayed then it's pretty reasonable to assume the Euro one will be pushed back too.
I'd have a bit more faith if we'd been shown a bit more content. I don't care that they have the newest cars in the world on there and that they have a working damage model, I'd rather see some info on the actual substance of how the game is coming together.
i played the recent demo and was appauled. Its so sterile and boring. Forza is a better game IMO. Forza 2 was the reason I got a 360, I think GT5 won't live up to expectations, yaeh it might look great, but its gameplay that matters, is it not?!?!

once again the recent 'demo' wasn't a demo, it was a compressed entry into a competition. That said, I still thought it was fantastic, the physics were top notch especially in my favourite c**kpit view

No, GTHD was ment to be a launch title and was a launch title. I remember downloading it when I brought my PS3.
Look at people getting their knickers in a twist over this news. All thats happened is this:
GT5 Japan launch: was March - now is April
GT5 all other regions launch: was TBA - now TBA
PS3 is region free FFS sake just wait one more month before you import it! Its not that there is a games drought at the moment. If you have a PS3, you have Final Fantasy 13, Heavy Rain and God of War 3 to play first. Plus if you have got a 360 too, there are good games lined up for that too! Also people crying about the Demo being poor. There has not been a demo! There was a GT-accadmy game, which was a cut down version of GT5 with all areas of the game scalled down to a 200mb file! What do you want for 200mb?!
Possibly an issue copying all those discs for the big GT5 pack. I don't care, I think it would be better to go a worldwide release, seems like a logical thing for GT's 10th Anniversary.

Also you have been playing too much Forza 3 with those amazing and improbable AWD swaps, yikes. I own Forza 3 and am upset I couldnt use my G25 with the damn thing, it's actually got clutch in-game. Sweet, but no wheel that takes advantage of that fact.
GT5 should be coming along shortly anyway, lots of other games to tide us over till it arrives. Until then I will play Forza 3 and all my other games until the motherload that is GT5 hits my PS3.
Maybe they have had a good look at games like forza 3, shift and dirt 2 and realised they were not as good as they thought.

FYI, the time trial did actually say "This is a demo version of Gran Turismo 5, due for release in 2010". It did specifically use the word DEMO to refer to itself.

So i was wrong with the wording, I admit that. But the "demo" isnt your usual arcadey game. This thing has two cars on one track, it's basically demonstrating the physics engine, as the damage engine is turned off and it's for a Time Trial event.
Im not going to buy another wheel just to play Forza3, and one that costs more than the system to boot? It would have been easier for MS to have allowed the damn wheel to be used on their system as well, i mean it can be used on my PC. I'm not in the hobby of collecting peripherals. My G25 works on my PS2 as well...MS doesn't think quite logically if you ask me.

You can't simply expect that the hardware you've bought be supported for everything - especially if its not designed to be compatable with that particular platform. True, but the issue is it's a USB connected controller. Wtf? The almost 8 year old PS2 uses it? My PC uses it? Why can't a 360 use it? It's all the same USB spec and most likely would just need driver dowloads, and that could be handled via update. G25/27 was designed for PC use, Sony already has a wheel specifically designed for GT by Logitech. Logitech is just shaving us, Im sure they didn't just release that wireless wheel by chance. That's utter crap, MS should have gotten an update to allow the damn thing to be used. Unless this is logitech's doing, I digress. I'm just not into buying pieces for each system to get a lot out of it. That's ignorant, they all have a common inputs; USB ports.
If the bloody stupid PD staff didn't spend so much time on TV racing real cars around circuits and talking about cars they might actually finish the damn game!!!
