Remedy's released the first official Alan Wake gameplay footage of 2010.
The video, which you can find on the developer's Facebook page shows our man Alan doing what he does best; running around the forest pointing his magic torch at baddies.
Microsoft confirmed last week that the 360 exclusive, which is described as "the TV show Lost, as written by Stephen King, and filmed by David Lynch," will be expanded post-release with downloadable 'episodes'.

Anyone else concerned by the possibility that game development has dragged on for too long, and that taking the "episodic" approach may be a means for the developer to get the game out the door after some 5 years at the behest of MS in order to recuperate some sort of profit before actually finishing the story with add-on episodes? My intuition feels...apprehensive.

Taken from the Official Alan Wake Forum regarding DLC.
... I have so much to say on this but I'll only say now that the plans for what content is on the DVD were not altered in any way due to the new episodes.
I think we can have some fun doing them. So that you'd have more fun playing them.
We're crunching away like mad to make sure AW is going to be the best possible game it can be. We are not going to be holding back on anything.
It's going to be a great game. Trust me - I've seen it.***
Fun making them so that we have Fun playng them. Isnt that what its all about? No need to worry about this, I dont know how many times ive said it now but remember, this is Remedy!

When you put it like that, all I can think of now, is Gran Turismo...

That's official word alright; thanks for taking the time to post it, MC.
Personally I've seen too many cases of publishers and developers screwing over the customer base the last few years, that my trust towards them as a collective group is at an all time low. It's gotten to the point that a publisher or developer essentially has to prove themselves in each case as opposed to taking them at their word. Between unscrupulous pricing, shoddy release states of game coding and utterly useless yet damaging DRM I now presume them "guilty before proven innocent". A sad state of affairs to be sure, yet the industry only has itself to blame. Their official comments are not enough to make me trust them and in any business transaction some amount of trust must be present in order to progress. Seeing is very much believing in this instance, and thus they will have to showcase the complete game before I agree to drink of the "kool aid".
