Splinter Cell: Conviction delayed AGAIN

Last-minute slip for Ubisoft's Xbox exclusive, now due in April
After years of waiting and just weeks before its planned February release, Splinter Cell: Conviction has been delayed AGAIN, Ubisoft has confirmed.

Speaking during an earnings call this afternoon, the publisher confirmed it was pushing both Splinter Cell: Conviction and R.U.S.E into its next fiscal year, which starts April.

Conviction was due on February 26... after being delayed last year. And in 2007.

Speaking to CVG on Conviction's big development stretch, multiplayer head Patrick Redding promised the game will be worth the 2 year-plus wait.

"I definitely do [think reviews will be worth the delays]," he said. "We have a lot of stake in Splinter Cell as a brand and the one thing I think we agree on internally is that no one wants to be the team that sinks the franchise."

No reason for the slip was given.

Damn it! This was high on my list. Oh well, Mass Effect 2 will keep me company and either Dante's Inferno or Heavy Rain will take SC's place. Cool

Normally I tell people to stop whining about HL: Ep. 3 taking so long, they just need to wait.

But this is f*cking ridiculous.

They made a trailer based around revealing the bloody day of release, now we've gone back to the month with no specific date.

If it's definitive enough to make a trailer called 'Numbers' based entirely on the release date, then why f*cking delay it again?

What more could there seriously be to do?!

If this is about fiscal years that's stupid, surely they'd of worked things out before then.

November '09, early 2010, late February, now 'April'...

Just shut up about release dates if you can't stick to one in the slightest.

Haha - sounded far whinier than I intended it to.

It's just so darned irritating.

I don't know if I'm p**sed off or happy. On one hand I've still got 9 games and about 10 XBLA games to start but on the other hand, I've been waiting for this game for years. Oh well, I suppose it's only delayed for a few more months.

If it means that the game's going to be a bit more polished and have the bugs ironed out then I have no problem with the delay. Plus, it gives me more time to get through the backlog (AC2, ME2, MW2, FIFA & Madden 10 etc).

There are just not enough hours in the day!

I was annoyed too, but then I began to think about it. Darksiders and Bayonetta have just been released. Mass Effect 2 will be released shortly followed by Bioshock 2, Dante's Inferno, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Yakuza 3 and Just Cause 2 - and that's all before before the end of March. At least I won't have to worry about any other releases in April.....hang on.....I forgot Red Dead Redemption. Crap!!!

From my point, ME2, JC2 and SC:C were the only real purchases that I've so far thought about (not interesting in practically anything else you listed xD ).

I've used the spit & polish excuse for this game for the past 3 delays, I just can't justifiably use it anymore!

Oh, and Mafia 2 (sequel to my favouritest game EVER) has got me ridiculously excited, but that's not coming out 'til August time.
EthanWoods on 13 Jan '10
Ah well, no need for me to rush with my copy of "Splinter Cell: Double Agent" then. Smile

Anybody want to talk about GT5?

Thought not.
Mark240473 on 14 Jan '10
Evil or Very Mad Why? This game has had mass amounts of trailers and developer interviews, so why has it been delayed again? Confused I have been waiting for ages for this since Double Agent, and the more delays it has the less I am becoming interested with it. Sad
cheesyfishface on 14 Jan '10
i have a feeling there might be something very very wrong with this game...hope not....

the preview code that was out got good marks but was said to be lacking coherent reasons for the gameplay mechanics. said to be a bit easy - just interactive eye candy = there might be a good reason this is being delayed again.

but then again...
skabone on 14 Jan '10
Hmmm, how about Ubisoft just tell us when the game is actually 'released' Rolling Eyes .

Then at least, it would be a nice surprise, rather than a constant disappointment...
