Left 4 Dead 2 is to see a free Xbox Live weekend next week, Microsoft's confirmed.
Online play usually reserved for Gold subscribers will be available free of charge to all Live members from Friday, January 15 at 17:00pm GMT, until Monday, January 18 at the same time.
A nice offer indeed, but has anyone really bought Left 4 Dead 2 without access to online play? Well erm, apparently yes. Two million retail copies of Left 4 Dead 2 have been sold worldwide, says MS, but only one million Gold members have played it online since release.
Come on then, admit it, who are the weirdos playing Left 4 Dead 2 offline??
You can of course play multiplayer on the one console, old-school style, you don't need gold for that. My brother borrowed my copy of the game and he doesn't have GOLD, he claims that he has a life.
silver is for downnloading DLC. Avatar stuff, etc.anyhting but online gameplay
I have yet to play L4D2 online, played it offline and enjoyed it...dont fancy being paired up with some annoying kid. My mate is getting l4D2 soon, so will play it online then
I've bought LFD 1 and 2 and I've never played either of them online.
It's one of the few games in the world that my wife will sit and play with me - so we have been spending long winter nights fighting off the horde in offline 2-player co-op.
Online play is for people without LFD-loving missuses

You mean you have never discovered the joys of versus and scavenge? And by the way it's L4D.

All modes are playable offline, including versus and scavenge - you just have to select to host your own local game.
