Having been dissapointed with the latest Tekken, I hope this is true, I always liked the couter system in DOA, not to mention the jiggly's |

I really like the DOA series. It's easy to pick up, yet good timing is the key to mastering the moves and counters. It is probably the most immediately enjoyable scrapper out there, so this is good news for all.
It's arguably the most visually appealing scrapper out there as well - and not just for the jugs.*

I think of Roman. "Titties, titties, titties!!" DOA is so cheap & surely only appeals to horny little 12 year olds. It's not a particularly technical fighter at all. Street Fighter pisses all over it from a great height. |

Yeah - it's not one that I've ever taken seriously, I must admit.
I've always found it a button-bashers dream and it doesn't really seem to offer any kind of depth beyond just wanting to see the full moves list for the animations - there's really no depth to the fighting at all and you can get through it with the basic moves easily enough. I've never really been much of a Tekken fan either, but I rate that series much higher - it just seems to do the same job, only better.
Now then - when are we getting Virtua Fighter 6?....I would love a new VF!

had the first DOA for my import saturn. it was ok. didnt like it better than the sega fighters (VF, last bronx or fighting vipers)
and the jugs are embarassing. they wobble far too much and in slow motion like jelly-filled balloons.
stupid japanese virtual fetishes. |

I don't get why there are so many folk who prefer Street Fighter to DOA. The counter system in DOA means you need a degree of skill to play the game. Street Fighter's stop time gameplay is disorienting and pointless. Tekken and Soul Calibur don't do it, nor does DOA.
On the flip side you can't really count the early DOA games as technically amazing. Nor are they exiting to play.
Come to think of it there hasn't really been anything new to fighting games for a long time. Multi staging was the last feature I can think of, and that was around in the 90's. |

To call doa a button masher, or nearly claiming it to be a button masher is just disrespectful, you guys don't see anyone in calling street fighter 4 a spamming game cause you see ken players 24/7 SHORYUKEN SHORYUKEN (that actually applies to all shotos), and same for fire balls. Doa is just as good as street fighter. In fact i think it's on the same level, accept that sf4 has a wider fan base. I've been playing doa for a very long time and, i've never been beaten by a "button masher", maybe some of you should actually take the time to learn it cause its a very strategic game. Doa's triangle system requires much brain work, and strategy.
So please do not insult games you've yet taken the time to actually play. |

How long have you been playing doa dude.. cause i can show and, tell you how far doa goes into depth. Doa has way more mind game behind it than you think, it just happens to have a small community. |
