Final Fantasy XIV screens show customisation, boobs

20 lovely shots of the PS3 and PC MMO
Square Enix has released a bunch of lovely new Final Fantasy XIV Online screenshots, showing the various character customisation options you'll be able to tinker with in the PC and PS3 MMO.

Apparently, players will be able to pick hairstyles, skin tone, eye colour and add scars and tattoos to their Final Fantasy elf person.

Applications are now being accepted for the Final Fantasy XIV PC beta, by the way.

Hopefully I'll actually enjoy this one... I imported FFXI from the US on release and hated it with a passion. I know the game improved over time with patches and additional content - but I never went back. I also like to group up, I really do, but I don't want to be forced to partake in grouping all the time to get anything done as I also enjoy playing solo. Something that game back then made near on impossible. Sad Maybe I just picked the wrong class (I was a Red Mage which probably didn't help)?

Sceenies look nice anyways, but we all know that a pretty face doesn't mean a compatible personality.

The graphics are going to be extreme for an MMO.

The Red Mage was one of the best classes in the game once you got to high enough level and they could solo almost anything in the game at level75/NIN with a skilled player and the right equipment(not saying I was one of them skilled players lol), and they are the most wanted class in any party set up Smile
Cant wait for this new game although hope it doesnt consume too much of my life like FFXI lol
Did most of the End game with my Black Mage, Merited,Solo/duo'ed with my Red mage also solo'ed my Black Mage from Lv50-75 as know one wanted BLM's in party setup's when they reached the Aht Urghan Whitegate expansion. Used all the other classes primarily as sub jobs when needed.
Lv75 RDM/BLM/SMN/WHM Lv37 DRK/PLD/NIN/WAR/BRD/BLU/DRG/THF
The Red Mage was the easiest class to get to 75.
FFXI was truely an awesome game and still is one of the hardest MMO's to play. If you want to solo then a RDM/NIN or THF/NIN or NIN/DNC are the best options in my opinion. My friend had a MNK/DNC and used to do immense damage but required alot of merit points to be able to solo.

I hope it'll be much better than XI. XI on Xbox 360 was awful.

Ditto. I found the early parts of the game (which I actually never progressed past) to be too reliant on endless slogging to raise your level. What also p**sed me off was that even the weakest creatures could easily kill you, if I remember correctly, hence making early levelling up more of a pain than it should have been.

So far with what I've read about this, I'm pretty excited. I did play FFXI still do, and do enjoy it. Though yeah it is way too restrictive, overly time consuming, and the reliance on groups for almost everything gets annoying. However FFXI was done during a different era of MMO.

So I don't think anyone should be too jaded about this one, being that they know the mistakes they've made and where MMO's are today, and what they want to do differently with them.

Though the hardcore stay up all night gamers will enjoy this, The causal gamers will enjoy it, and won't be intimidated by anything.. The game so far from whats been described looks, and seems more fun than the current.

I really love how you can play solo if you choose regardless of whatever class you decide to create, I also dig how everyone's character will be so different in all ways since everyone plays differently and the better character customizations.

Sure they may be no mention of PVP yet, but remember FFXI came quite a long way from when it first came out, so who is to say they won't add a PVP later on, along with other new and exciting things. Don't expect them to throw everything into it the day it is first launched.

I also love how you can put the game down for awhile, play something else. Then pick this up again and go on where you left off, and no more grinding!
