Assassin's Creed Ending Explained!

Warning: a SPOILERIFIC blog awaits...
UPDATE: Read our Assassin's Creed 2 review online.

So, you've finished Assassin's Creed then? All gone a bit Da Vinci code hasn't it? Don't worry, Xbox World 360 magazine are here to guide you through it... SPOILERS AHEAD!

Q. Who is Subject Seventeen?
A. That would be you, Desmond.

Q. Is Desmond actually Altair?
A. No, Desmond is a descendent of Altair, and by using the Animus he's able to locate Altair's memories that are hidden in his DNA. This means that Altair had at least one child after the events of Assassin's Creed - otherwise Desmond would not have Altair's memories locked away inside him.

Mural
Q. What's all this writing about?
A. The room's previous occupant, Subject Sixteen, left all of the writing that you can see for Desmond to read.

Q. Okay, so why can I not see it until the end of the game?
A. Abstergo washed the messages off of the walls and the floor, but Desmond is able to spot the messages by using his Eagle Vision.

Q. Wait a second. You said that Desmond wasn't Altair! What gives?
A. He's not, at least, not yet... Read through Vidic's emails and you'll stumble across one that mentions 'The Bleeding Effect.' Vidic reports that, after using the Animus for a given length of time, some previous subjects were unable to distinguish between their ancestors' lives and their own. Their genetic and real-time memories have literally 'bled' into one another, which is why Desmond is able to use the Eagle Vision power at the end of the game.

Q. Why only the one power?
A. Be patient! Assassin's Creed is the first part of a trilogy. By the end of the third game Desmond will have a lot more moves to play with...

Q. Who are Abstergo?
A. Modern Templars. Abstergo are a company intent on world domination. Their 'aim' is for world peace, but the methods with which they wish to achieve this can be considered mad. They think that by controlling mankind, and killing those that aren't influenced by their power, they can achieve peace. Even their name betrays this secret: it's Latin for 'cleanse'.

Q. Who is Lucy?
A. Lucy Stillman is an employee of Abstergo, but is actually an undercover operative working with the Assassins. She is the one that passes on the door code to Desmond, and is trying to delay the project. In a series of emails to a person known only as '??' she asks for aid. The final message is coded, but reads, "We will be there soon." Vidic has his suspicions of Lucy. Alan Rikkin sent him an email regarding the fluoride leak: "Makes me wonder if the fluoride leak was internal after all... And if it was, are we dealing with a whistle blower or something worse?" It's highly reasonable to assume that Lucy was this leak.

Square words
Q. Back to the writing. What does the triangle of text say?
A. "They drained my soul and made it theirs. I drained my body to show you where I saw it." Subject sixteen wrote this, along with all of the other messages, in his blood. The first part refers to Abstergo stealing his soul, or in reality, his memories. They watched his ancestor's life to locate an important artefact, hence 16's belief that his 'soul' was taken. The second part is more literal. 16 drained his body to show you where he saw it, meaning that he used his own blood to leave you clues as to where the artefact lies. What artefact is he talking about? There's a strong chance it could be the Holy Grail. We'll look at some evidence later on that suggests this is the case.

Q. What does the block of writing say?
A. "Artefacts sent to the skies to control all nation, to make us obey a hidden crusade. Do not help them." This message refers directly to Abstergo's plan should they (and they will) get hold of the artefact that you're being used to locate. They plan to send it into space and attach it to a low orbit transmitter to brainwash mankind. In the final battle Altair discovers just what the artefact, the Third Piece of Eden, is capable of. It can make people believe anything, and was responsible for many Biblical illusions such as the parting of the Red Sea (in 'reality' it did not happen - the artefact simply made people think that it did). Subject Sixteen is well aware of Abstergo's plans and asks you not to help them.

Q. What does 12212012 mean?
A. It may be easier if we call it 21122012, for this number's a date. Specifically, 21 December 2012. It's a hugely important date, for it marks the 'end of the world as we know it'. The ancient Mayan civilisations used the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar (incidentally, we use the Gregorian calendar), and a significant event is supposed to take place. In Assassin's Creed this event is obvious, and it also tells us when the game takes place.

Triangle words
Reading through Vidic's emails you'll see that Abstergo must 'launch' on 21 December. It is safe, then, to say that the 'present day' antics take place in September 2012, and that Abstergo wish to launch the satellite on 21/12/2012 to begin the new era in control of mankind.

Q. What about 13.0.0.0.0?
A. This refers to 21/12/2012 again. To be more precise, it is the date written in long count form and marks the beginning of the thirteenth Baktun.

Q. What is the significance of the animal pictures?
A. There are three animals pictures: a hummingbird, a spider and a monkey. All three pictures are drawings of the famous Nazca lines - a series of lines in Peru that, when viewed from above, reveal giant animals. It's probable that the area is home to another ancient artefact, or if not the pictures reveal the location of one.

Q. What are the pyramids about?
A. The step pyramids are a common symbol of Mayan architecture. The Mitchell-Hedges skull was found inside a Mayan temple, and there are more artefacts locked away within the ruins.

Q. What is Yonaguni?
A. Yonaguni is the westernmost island in Japan, and a likely setting for the next game (or at least part of it). It is widely believed that an ancient and advanced civilisation once lived on Yonaguni, and that they suffered a similar fate to Atlantis' people. Buildings found submerged around Yonaguni predate any other known buildings in the world, so expect any Japanese ancestor tales to take place before Assassin's Creed 1.

Yonaguni
Q. What is 22:13?
A. Revelations 22:13. "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." There are also a few alphas and omegas scrawled on the giant mural.

Q. What's the eye in the triangle about?
A. Yet another reference to a God. It's a Christian version of the Eye of Providence - the eye of God. The triangle emphasises the Trinity. It's strange that among all the religions and beliefs there are some strong Christian vibes - strange because the game keeps sewing seeds that hint it's a lie.

During the game it's mentioned that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God and that it's a fabrication. The final email also mentions that artefacts related to Christ are probably fictional. And yet we have a couple of Christian symbols and a massively powerful New Testament verse that suggests maybe the opposite is true. Maybe the Piece of Eden has been used not to support a lie about Christ, but to cover up the very truth of the matter.

Q. Emporer Ji... Jing...?
A. "Within Emperor Jiajing'[s] sin and Quetzcoaltz's hunger lies the Answers." Emporer Jiajing was the Emperor of China from 1521 to 1567, and the 11th emperor of the Ming dynasty. He was not a kind emperor, and an internal plot to assassinate him was planned although ultimately failed (note: a possible 'level' in a future Assassin's Creed). He built the Temple of the Sun (notice a theme about the Sun in the paintings around the two rooms) and collected rare materials from around the world. One of these rare materials is almost certainly an artefact.

Quetzcoaltz isn't familiar, but is a likely misspelling of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec sky and creator God and another reference to the Sun. Although primarily an Aztec deity the Mesoamerican influences are strong, and the Mayans had their own version: Kukulkán. His 'hunger' refers to the ritual animal sacrifices that were made to appease him, and an artefact is probably lying within one of his temples.

Date
Q. What is the significance of the door code?
A. It's the date of the Philadelphia Experiment.

Q. Can you please explain the email on the final computer?
A. Sure thing. We'll look at it piece by piece:

Email: "The others and I have finished reviewing the Animus recordings from Subjects 12-16. While the Piece of Eden remains our priority, we must continue working to locate and understand the remaining artefacts. I am sure you can understand our reasoning behind this. Although satellite is accomplished to a fair portion of the work for us, we will certainly need to deal with those who are either immune to - or protected from - its effects.

Explanation: There are multiple artefacts that Abstergo want to possess in order to control the world, and they all have different powers. Once the satellite is in orbit most of Earth's population will be under their control, but some people will be immune to its effects. They need to secure other artefacts to help deal with these people, otherwise their plans will be exposed and Abstergo will be under attack from rebels.

Email: "Piece of Eden (no. 3) - We applaud your continued efforts to locate an alternate artefact with the loss of no. 2 in the DIA Satellite Accident. We understand Subject Seventeen is having trouble interfacing with the Animus, leading to delays. As a result, we estimate another 24 hours before your next critical update. In the meantime, we'll prepare an extraction team and set them to standby. We're relying on you to obtain the additional information we require. He knows where the other objects are - even if he doesn't realize it. You MUST unlock that final memory or all of this will have been for nothing."

Explanation: The company is frantically trying to locate another Piece of Eden. They were about to launch a satellite with the second piece but an accident occurred and 20 people were killed. Desmond is being used to find another Piece of Eden with which Abstergo can launch another satellite and control the world.

Hills
Email: "Philadelphia Project - Data provided from Animus Subject Twelve indicates that the ship briefly manifested in a future state for approximately 18 minutes. It is unclear whether the timeline is consistent with or parallel to our own. Although we have recovered enough data to reconstruct and repair the original artefact used in the experiment, Administration has refused to move forward on the project, citing paradox concerns. Corporate policy remains in place: any objects found to interfere with or manipulate time must be contained. Artefact will be moved to secure storage."

Explanation: According to an email in Lucy's inbox the door code is 10281943 - the date of the alleged Philadelphia Experiment. It is rumoured that on 10 October 1943 the US destroyer escort USS Eldridge was subject to a top-secret experiment and became temporarily invisible. It has been suggested that it also underwent both teleportation and time travel, and that its crew never recovered. Many went mad, and some were even fused to the ship's bulkhead. This email confirms that the experiment took place and that the Templars were behind it.

Abstergo have the ability to manipulate time and space with the artefact, but dare not try in case of triggering paradoxical events. It's possible that Desmond will use such an artefact to stop Abstergo before they even begin their operation.

Email: "Tunguska Incident - Now believed to be the direct result of assault by Assassins. Research station destroyed as was artefact. Alternate wave generation devices have been located in storage, but we have insufficient data at the moment to initiate research. The risk of accident is too high.

Lineage Discovery and Acquisition Division should attempt to locate descendents of any attack survivors (either Assassin or Brotherhood) in order to continue research. Resurrecting this particular type of technology will aid us greatly with any holdouts following the Satellite's activation. We're putting together a team to push research in this area."

Japanese buildings
Explanation: On 30 June 1908 a massive explosion rocked the world. The incident, near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in Tunguska (now Krasnoyarsk Krai of Russia) is believed to have occurred when a meteorite burst above the Earth's surface, flattening trees and causing widespread destruction. The email states that it was caused by a group of Assassins destroying a Templar base and the artefact at that location. Abstergo obviously believe that there is a great need for alternate wave generation artefacts to help deal with (ie destroy) resistance following the satellite's launch. Think of this as a powerful weapon, such as a neutron bomb that can be harnessed and aimed at certain targets.

Email: "Grail - We are removing the Grail from our list of objectives. There is insufficient evidence to confirm its existence. Current examination of Subject Seventeen indicates that aside from the Piece of Eden, all other artefacts related to Christ-figure are literary devices (or derived from Piece of Eden) and not actual objects. Even if the object is real, its use to us at this stage is negligible. Our resources are better used elsewhere."

Explanation: In what's likely to be Abstergo's biggest mistake they decide to stop searching for the Holy Grail. Why is this a mistake? It's likely that this artefact does exist, and that Desmond and the Assassins will track it down and use it against Abstergo in the future. It's possible that Subject Sixteen knew the location and provided clues for Desmond to follow - knowing that Abstergo wouldn't look for its locations while they were so focused on the Piece of Eden. If this is true then Abstergo have underestimated the Grail's significance - 16 obviously believed it was a key artefact in the battle against Abstergo.

Pentagram
Email: "Mitchell-Hedges Communicators - Analysis of the objects is complete. The good news is that they work. As a result we now have a safe and secure communication channel for use after the launch. However, they are severely limited in number, and so we will be providing them only to our most essential facilities. You will obviously retain possession of the one you have."

Explanation: The Mitchell-Hedges communicators are possibly the most interesting items mentioned. Found in a ruined Mayan temple in Belize at around 1926 the 'communicators' are ancient crystal skulls, and there are believed to be only 13 skulls worldwide. The origin of these skulls is unknown, but they are rumoured to bestow the holder with scrying powers - ie the ability to communicate psychically. Abstergo have located these skulls, and it will allow their top facilities to communicate with one another without fear of the Assassins listening in. The mythology of these skulls is interesting: some claim it originated from Atlantis (remember Yonaguni?) at that the Knights Templar carried one about during the crusades. If so, it's likely that it was passed down through the Templars and is now the one in Vidic's possession. That does, however, leave the Mayan relevance in some doubt...

Email: "Warren, I cannot stress how important it is that you wrap things up with Subject Seventeen as soon as possible. We're obviously relieved that you seem to be closing in on the target memory, but you need to step it up. Everything we're working towards depends on your retrieving these locations. Without them, we've got nothing. May the Father of Understanding guide you to success."

Explanation: The target memory in question is the final boss fight, and the revelation of multiple artefact locations. Obviously they're keen to get the information as quickly as possible so that Abstergo's retrieval teams can locate the artefacts.

Books
Q. What are these Pieces of Eden?
A. It's unclear, but they could be the mythical golden apples. Apples are mentioned numerous times, and there are apples drawn in blood at the end. In Greek mythology there existed three Golden Apples, and it could be that this belief has been linked with Biblical aspects, and the Pieces of Eden and Golden Apples are the very same thing - the 'forbidden fruit' in the Garden of Eden.

Q. Explain the Achievements please!
A. There are two. After using Eagle Vision in the bedroom you'll unlock 'Visions of the Future', which is self-explanatory: clues for the next games. The Eagle and the Apple -1191 Achievement isn't as obvious. The Eagle is Altair - the parallels between the protagonist and the bird are too numerous for that not to be the case. His hood mimics an eagle's beak, his leap of faith move is accompanied by an eagle's cry and even the name Altair means 'The Flying'. 1191 is the year in which Assassin's Creed is set, which strongly suggests that the other games will take place in different times. The Apple? That would be the Piece of Eden that Altair viewed at the end of his adventure - the third Golden Apple.

Q. What's the other writing?
A. There's Arabic, Hebrew and Chinese writing on the mural too.

Posted a few days before the game even came out? Seriously? Why would you do that?

You complete douches, nice one.

Come back when you've finished it then! We lead by saying that it's full of spoilers, and we weren't messing about.

Our American readers (XBW is sold over the Pond) have finished it already, and have asked us for answers. We've had a few emails from UK readers too – some lucky people bagged early copies. We didn't want to keep them in the dark any longer.
XBW_Matthew on 16 Nov '07
wow, that is amazingly thourough. and helpful now that im done. thanks. although I would like to know if there is anything more revealed after you have collected(recorded) 100% of the memory (including the additional/ribonucleic)and, if so, what does that change about the ending or gameplay? (if anything) and how i would wonder do you guys know there will be a triligy?
Sammy123 on 17 Nov '07
Nice article, but I have a few things on my mind,

How did you solve to triangle and square word codes?

What do you mean by achievements? Where was it referenced that there were achievements? Also what was the second achievement? The first was clear, but the second not so much.

Does the DIA stand for Denver International Airport? I remember Lucy mentioning it, but she described it as 'nothing bad happened'.

Any idea what that object is in the center of the mural? Some think that they are galaxies clashing, I sort of think it resembles an apple.

What do you think of the pentagram? Or the joined circles?

On a final note, I'd like to give some input on the artifacts. It's fairly obvious that the artifacts are mechanically based, opposed to magically based. It would take advanced technology for a civilization to develop such things. Which leads me to Edgar Cayce, he was a modern day psychic who believed that Atlantis existed way before the 'known' ancient civilizations. He also said that their technology was beyond ours. So that's something to ponder on.

nice one sounds like a bloody complicated next game but it also sounds amazing, one thing tho did u say that the game would be in a different era? coz if so i am pressuming u wouldnt b Altair which would b reli bad coz its awsome to b him! and finally cheers i dnt kno how u found out all that info but it defo helped thank again!

I speak Hebrew, and I'd be happy to tell you what the hebrew lettering says inbetween the 1300 AD and "we are books" paragraph. The hebrew worlds are pronounced Olam Habah, which means the World To Come or the Next World. It is a reference to the afterlife. I haven't played the game though, so I don't know why its there. But thats what it is.

VERY THROUGH, seriously you have too much time on your hands but thanks anyways. ok first question, have you been able to get a scan of the barcode that is above the #triangle (i remember for halo 2 a barcode was used to leak some of the story or something) when you get a scan of the barcode and actualy get a numerical sequence, it might be a phone number... other then that

the 3 circles overlaping is another christian symbol for trinity.

i miss altair

TWO OVAL SHAPES BEHIND DESMOND'S BED--MURAL

May be way way wrong but the first thing that came to my mind when i looked at them was the butterfly effect...Not sure how that would fit in to the storyline but if you look up the butterfly effect on the web and look at some of the graphs and pictures it definitely resembles the mural...
Colonial33 on 18 Nov '07
It is a picture of the Lorentz Attractor. It's a mathematical object found in dynamical systems, and is most interesting for it's results in chaos theory. Also pictured in the mural is the Mandelbrot set, which is a fractal representation of the Zn+1 = Zn^2 + c map, which is another important item in dynamical systems.
Kerranti on 18 Nov '07
woah... well that cleared a lot up for me... how the hell did you find all that out?!

it would have been nice if we'd have seen what happens to Altair after, i was hoping it would be a Fable-esque destroy the Piece of Eden and be a hero or take it and wreak havok on the world. Cant't wait for AC2 now Very Happy
Eyhren on 18 Nov '07
you are one smart dude. thanks for the explanations, cause I was left clueless at the end of the game lol.
danzo69 on 18 Nov '07
about half way through the game, i went on lucys computer and checked her emails while she left the room, thats how i got my kicks, raiding her pc Very Happy , and i found an email where she was asking what happened to someone and they replied they commited suicide "over some kid", it said something like that, could that be subject 16 they're talking about. Surely all that blood lost writing messages could of killed him/her. Im going to start the game again soon to do all the investigation missions i never did, so when i see the message again i will write the exact words, does any1 know what im talking about or have i lost every1 Confused .

Ive completed the game, seen the credits, read all the emails etc, now what. There doesnt seem to be anything else to do, yet i cant save so i have to watch the credits everytime i turn the game on.
DAEDALUS79 on 19 Nov '07
Firstly, this game is a complete let down after all the hype surrounding it. Ubisoft obviously thought it was going to be huge but sadly the repetitive gameplay and stupid Matrix style plot turn this into an average game.
I could care less about a sequel and the ending just felt like the game had ended mid-way.

Ive completed the game, seen the credits, read all the emails etc, now what. There doesnt seem to be anything else to do, yet i cant save so i have to watch the credits everytime i turn the game on.

Thats it. Game over. All you can do is go back and play the levels you already completed.
vulcanraven01 on 19 Nov '07
ok i finally understand alot but i stil dont understand wat the two ovals mean behind desmonds bed QuestionQuestionQuestion

That's a reference to the Chaos Theory like someone said also the Butterfly Effect. That and the Quetzacoatl thing was the only thing I recognised apart from the the maths signs.
Llorente on 19 Nov '07
The hebrew worlds are pronounced Olam Habah, which means the World To Come or the Next World.

I don't mean to be rude, but I think it actually says - Olam RABAH. Which is actually the only surviving Excilic text (pre-Babylonian). Its basically just an interpetation of the bible.
Callif on 20 Nov '07
I beat the game over the weekend and saw all this text and I knew there had to be so secrets to it. I am glad you have done this as that would be a ton of work to do myself so thanks for the hard work Smile .

One thing im interested it not sure if there will be more information after I get 100% on the game but in one of the informant missions cant remember the city now they refer to an Ada person in the starting dialog that implies she disappeared. I am curious if this is why Atier had such a bad out look at the beginning of the game(a lost lover/friend/family member?). I actually thought while I was doing the mission with the female templar near the end being Ada but they didn't go there at least not in detail(It was the 1st person he didnt finish off he finished off everyone he interigated). Or maybe Lucy is a decendent of that Templar and or Ada. I know im digging here.

In my theory, lucy and desmond are related both to altier and the mysterious woman. i think they met up again and "stuff" happened to lead down their bloodlines to create desmond and lucy. i reached this theory by noticing the similarities between lucy and the mystery woman. but anyway i'm probably wrong and the similarities are just coincidence.

When is the lovie happening then? and is this a new book by Dan brown?

Complicated, but good. This will probably make most players like the Sci-fi twist. It's made me like it.

Finished the best game in the world...watched credits...and deciphered all the letters, words, and symbols but it talks about reading vidics emails. i was only able to get access to lucys comp not the 1 on the desk or the 1 in conference room. Can someone help me access them. Am i missing something. It seems ive read all of the emails in lucys but want to access the other comps. Please help me out. Thanx Guys n Gals

ya i cant get into the other comps either only lucys wtf
bigbob91 on 23 Nov '07
Currently, i have come across 3 theories of what exactly the hebrew writing means.

1. "Adam Chavah" - Adam and Eve
2. "olam habah" - The World to Come
3. "Olam Rabah" - A text reference apparently

if anyone has some insight into what the actual meaning of the text or some meaningful connection it would be much appreciated.

Im stuck...i have been stuck...and no one knows the answer...What do you do after the credits???
ps3guy13 on 23 Nov '07
The second piece was recovered from Masayah and destroyed in the launch, the third piece they locate at the end, what was the first piece of eden?
erythro42 on 23 Nov '07
Im stuck...i have been stuck...and no one knows the answer...What do you do after the credits???

You can replay the missions in the animus, or you can read the emails on the three computers, but if you didn't pickpocket the code pen from the doctor when he was facing the window, you're screwed and have to replay the game again to find out what's in the computer terminals.

Other than that, nothing, the game is over. Go outside, have a picnic, ride a bike.
erythro42 on 23 Nov '07
Now im not sure what to make of this, but it would appear the what you are calling "Hills" if looked at from a differant angle are actually a horse in stride with a hooded rider, you have simply seen it upside down to call it "hills"
blizzard89 on 24 Nov '07
There's was a part in the game where one of your brothers ask about a girl, I forgot her name, something about her leaving. Anyway anyone have any more details on her?

BUT beastly game!! Twisted Evil
pato bob on 24 Nov '07
Vulcanraven, that post would have been a complete waste of time on your part if you had not agreed with my theory... It WAS cut off in the middle imo. I have read much and strongly disagree with the theories that desmond will be running around in the modern world finding artifacts... as a matter of fact... i think the sequel will start right where it left off. They will come back in and Lucy will be out of excuses, blow her cover, and her and desmond will try to escape(This being the control tutorial) but desmond will die. Then I am under the impression that there will be two main chars in the next game with the animus, one for the Myans and one for the asian predictions. But as I said this is completely theory but I felt the need to express it.

And @ pato, Altair was alive during the third crusade which was a very powerful conflictive time over Jerusalem(I believe the Muslims had control of Jerusalem at this time)between Christians and Muslims. So that would be the reason you find yourself in a religious setting.

The amazing thing is that the parallels between this game and real life are scary. I fully beleive in modern day secret organisations,(templars, new world order, illuminati etc), this is a very clever game and should be used as an eye opener for all. The truth is out there, (and assasins' creed is not a million miles away from it).

Google "illuminati" and "new world order" and take it from there!

Im stuck...i have been stuck...and no one knows the answer...What do you do after the credits???

Go into the bedroom, use your vision ability and read the board above the bed, presto!
wudragon on 26 Nov '07
yup, the thing over his bed like the two ovals means the butterfly effect.

"In the movie The Butterfly Effect, actor Ashton Kutchner plays a man who has found a way to travel back in time to his youth. Each time he returns to his childhood, he makes minuscule changes that radically alter his life in the present, inevitably leading to terrifying results.

Human time travel is a purely fictional concept, but according to Rutgers biophysicist Troy Shinbrot, the idea that small changes can lead to dramatically different outcomes is firmly rooted in the physics of chaos theory, at least for some systems."

cant remember where that came from, but basically thats when you go back in time and change a tiny detail and that changes the future. So liek maybe whoever put the artifacts there in the past or something could time travel?

Wow! I did most of these translations by myself, but thanks for clearing up the Japanese for me. I was using a Chinese alphabet. xD (Even though they are very similar) Anyway, great work guys.
RevengeOO7 on 27 Nov '07
Revenge007:

the writing on the wall is in Chinese, not Japanese. It's an older form of Chinese. Some of it baffles me, because I can't really see it very clearly, but so far, this is what I have.

First line of text on the far right:

A man's life will be ended by his own hands.

The two repetitive couplets (under 'the Answers'):

He who knows the fruit of the future is the author of the present.

Huge chunk under 'Quetzcoalt's Hunger':

Hearing is better than not hearing
Seeing is better than hearing
Knowing is better than seeing
Doing is better than knowing

I don't have any clear pictures of the rest of the text, but I might to able to translate if I did. :\ Hope this helps.

I don't know if anybody else realized this but i would also speculate a future level in or around Rosslyn Chapel in the United Kingdom. It is known for having religious imagery from numerous different sources and cultures. To top it all off it was built by Sir William St. Claire, a templar by some people's claims or a freemason, and the eye in the triangle on the floor radiating light is also a freemason symbol. There is also a small village nearby by the name of temple that is documented to have a true connection to the Knights Templar owing to the preceptory that they had there. The chapel itself is also covered in various religous symbols as i have already said, and the final appearance of the room with symbols plastered all over it in very particular fashion also resembles the chapel. On further reflection i'm not sure if it will be a level necessarily but there is a distinct resemblance between both the state of the lab at the end of the game and the inside of rosslyn chapel. The temple also houses a large myth about it surrounding the holy grail, which has been mentioned before in the article as possibly being the way for them to combat the templars.

I loved the game to be honest, and having symbol puzzles like this made it even better for me. I know its not finished the storyline and ended rather abruptly, however the game itself is incredibly complex in every level, has an amazing level of graphical detail and the depth of the story line along with the multiple ways for you to reach your objectives, just makes me want to play the next one even more when it comes out, just to find out how the story ends. I also wouldn't mind seeing them using a similar freerunning system to this in the next Prince of Persia game, would make it really great for the whole non-linear puzzles.
skadie on 28 Nov '07
The Butterfly Effect has nothing at all to do with time travel mate. It's basically a concept from chaos theory that a tiny action can have huge consequences elsewhere. The butterfly part comes from the example they set, basically that the beating of a butterflys wings can cause a tornado in another part of the world.

mechy666 on 30 Nov '07
Someone mentioned before that the symbol of the triangle and the eye was related to freemasonry. Not to be rude, but it is the "eye of all knowing" which stems from the Illuminati, who were a secret society believing that enlightenment was more important than almost anything, George Washington was allegedly in the Illuminati, and if you look on the back of a dollar bill, the same symbol is above the pyramids, which could also refer to those pyramids in the other images. Freemasonry was commonly misconstrued to be a part of the illuminati, but often had nothing to do with it.
The Three joined circles mentioned before to be a part of the trinity, could also be a reference to celtics, it is a symbol ive seen many times in reference to celtic civilization, I dont quite know that much on what it means though.

Vidic: "every major discovery in the last millenium has come from abstergo or its predecessors"

he then goes on to say

the ones who came before, who and what is this meant to refer to? has anyone figured it out

I'm fairly sure that what he means is that they find the discoveries made in the past by finding the descendants of people who actually made the discovery and using the Animus to discover the location or how to make/use whatever they're looking for.

Funny how it havent been mentioned before (As it isnt really hidden), but i think there might be a possible artifact located in a corner of the Kingdom. In the big Crusader camp before Acre, there is a small dig site and in the middle of the hole is a sword stabbed into the ground. Now, this sword could be alot of things and it could be nothing, but i havent bothered reading up on legends at the time regarding a sword (I know Excalibur/Sword in the Stone), so i'll leave that to you guys. Just thought it deserved a mention as it could be a possible weapon used by or against the Templars, although it'll most likely be by them, as it's the Crusaders that are digging it out.

Not for us British it's not. Artifact is (generally considered to be) the American spelling. In fact, it's interesting to see that the emails all say artifact (Abstergo's an American corporation) but the block of writing spells it artefact. Subject 16 could well be British…

That first line isn't repetitive there's a second line afterwards:

個人生死個人了 個人報業個人銷 - You should solve your own problems. Regardless of the outcome.

The one after being the author of their own future:

人無遠慮 必有近憂 – If people don’t have a long term plan then they’ve got something to worry about now.

on the extreme left there are a couple more:

As far as the block of 20 characters, I couldn't make any of it out I asked my dad and he said the characters used didn't make too much sense, except the last line:

一切惟心造 – you of your own mind created it.

前事不忘後事之師 – Whatever you do now, remember in the future. Learn from your mistakes.

Hope this helps.

I'm really intrigued to see who/where Subject 16 came from. He writes in Anglicized English, but also writes in Traditional Chinese, Hebrew, and Arabic. The last two languages could've been passed down from the Assassin's origins, but the Chinese passages that he wrote were both Philosophical quotes, or Buddhist parables. I'm guessing he may have been from Hong Kong, but I could be wrong.

And to Caide: The sword sticking out of a grave is a military tradition where they have their primary weapon sticking from their graves. Its still in practice today.

Already posted on xbw's E-mail ... If this might prove helpful ...

Regarding the arabic part ... There seems to be a single word mentioned ""twice"" ,above the bed ...

E-mail Copied:

Just wanted to try and help ... By the end of the game it got quite spooky to me actually, the thing that is written in arabic is one word as you can see:

ÇáŇáŇáÉ

pronounced as : al zelzela

That is located just left to 13.0.0.0.0, and the word goes back to the root (Earthquake). However Earthquake itself "The word" is not written that way, its written as

ÇáŇáŇÇá

pronounced as: al zelzaal

Going back to the main topic, the word "mentioned in the game" is a name of a chapter in the Bible (The Holy Quran). The chapter speaks of how heavy resurrection/judgment day will be on people, talking about a big earthquake that will occur on that day. Where mountains fall, and the unimaginable happens which people just can't understand. Like people coming back from death "back from their graves" and {gold and silver based on some explanations}/treasures buried beneath the ground rise above. The ground "Earth" speaks to the individuals explaining what good and bad they've done. Finally, people are judged whether to go to heaven or hell "depending on what good or bad they've done", thus ending up happy or sad.

you can refer to this link (Arabic) for full explanation
http://www.islampedia.com/MIE2/tafsir/99zalzal.html

However "This is" a short and straight to the point summary ...

and you can use Microsoft's beta translator, although i wouldn't rely on its translations Smile
http://translator.live.com/Default.aspx

Hope this helps guys, happy searching!

Small correction;

AlTair: Pronounced as: Al 't'aaa ir (Where the T is extremely hard to pronounce because of the depth /Which is even pronounced incorrectly in the game (Al Tayeeer?) imagine!\) Wink means:

The Bird Cool

For some proper pronounciation below is a link to the birds section, notice that the humming bird is pronounced with al taair at first, cause arabic is written and spoken from right to left unlike english. Therefore Humming Bird is said as Bird Humming.

http://www.languageguide.org/im/birds/ar/

Al Tair ("Tyoor" | Pronounced in the link above when you place your mouse over the cage |, Plural), usually involves falcons, eagles and other types of birds. But still can be used to even refer to a folk of pigeons hehehe/ Shocked

Have fun ... Wink

I love this game. Very Happy

I'm speculating that we'll keep seeing the "Altair" character in each game in the future, but he'll be a new identity and in a different era/time in history. I wonder if we'll get to the modern day, by the final game.

And who else wished they had a sniper rifle with them, so you could sit at the top of the cross, on top of the church in Acre, and just pop 'em off like flies?!?! Twisted Evil

Yeah, I know it's silly and against the flow of the game... But it'd still be a fun cheat to have in the game.

Even though it's possible...Desmond shouldnt die...at least not for a while...The story will eventually shift, but he's just learning his powers. I think he will stick around for a little bit..but who knows.

As far as the hebrew witing goes...anyone think "the world to come" means the game that will come out next?

Is it just me or are some of the letters in the triangle not lit up like the rest? Maybe this is how they were deciphered. Really quickly in my "been up too late" best, here's what I got from them:

soraky on 14 Dec '07
ok, a couple of you have asked how the block of letters and the traingle of letters were deciphered, its actually quite simple.
Both of them are actually done the same way, so its not that hard once you work out one.
OK, when you are looking at the letters on the block of letters, so that you see all the latters are facing correctly, stand on the left side of the block, so when you do eagle vision, the letters are turned 90degrees to the left. Now in your head, or on a piece of paper, write the block, with all the letters rotated back to normal so they are facing up, but you are still viewing the letters from the left of the square (understand?) Now simply read the letters as you would read something normally, except read it from right to left, instead of left to right
Hope this helps Very Happy

PS: Do the same with the triangle!

If you look under the what you presume to be a "Reysh" there is actually a line, making it a "Hey"
Blackflame47 on 18 Dec '07
ok me english isnt that good but ill try to explain alittle. Olam Habah does mean the next world like the after life )heaven or hell( buuuuut that was changed moore then 2000 years ago to the coming of the Messiah (proeps thats what the date is refering to to the end of the world as we know and the come of the Messiah)sinch the words where in hebrew i asume it should be trslated as to the Jewish meening of the words so as i was saying the after life is old even before Christian so the coom of the Messiah looks better and fits to the story people believe that in the bible you can find any thing even the date for the come of the Messiah proaps thise is tha date for his come and if i am not wrong then when he comes those who are good will live in thise new world(the next world isnt realy haeven its thiseworld its the same planet)and those who are bad will be gone and the dead will be brought back to life
so thise is what i think that they are trying to get the artifact to controll evrybody on thise planet so they will be able to go to the next world the will brain controol them to be good because i think they are trying to save to world
i also came up with alot moore diffrent ways to explain all of thise but thise one is the coolest
by the way it says "Olam Habah" not "Olam rabah" i speak hebrew i knew

Some people are reading the two rings symbol in the bedroom as Butterfly Effect but I read it differently. Instead, my first impression was the infinite symbol and then after reading the many postings here, I am now thinking it is the symbol of Mobius theory.

In fact, the Mobius theory fits in nicely with everything that has explained here so far. (Here goes and I hope that I make sense of myself) The Mobius theory suggests that time and space eventually crosses thus "history repeats itself". One example in the game would be the ancestor's memory being embedded into our DNA. The theory of evolution suggests that life continues to improve itself by past experiences and knowledge. Life would end but when it starts again, there will be an improvement for the new life. (Haven't you all heard this saying, "my kids are now doing things that I could only dreamt of or they are now learning things much earlier than I did."Wink Some might say that this is not DNA related but is it? Kids could understand computers better than their parents could without anyone teaching them. This might be a DNA thing.

Anyway, just thought that the Mobius theory is better fit that Butterfly Effect.

siddiusTM on 22 Dec '07
i was just wondering..

does anyone know or have an idea where the artefacts came from? are they man-made?

how did human beings from the distant past create such advanced technology?

the only possible answers for the origins of the artefacts would have to require some sort of time traveling from the future (in which they might have the technology) to the past to place the artifacts in different cultures of the ancient world.. but why? if the artefacts are to be secured and to be extremely kept in safe why jeopardize its safety from sending it to the past? overall it wouldn't make any sense.

OR

the origins of the artefacts are not of this world? perhaps they were given to us as "gifts from the heavens" during ancient times and now in the present world still exist? If this were to be true what could it mean as far as the storylines go in the Assassin's Creed trilogy?

Id like to put this to attention... How in the HELL did 16 1.) bleed enough to make the markings while still having at least some kind of thought process 2.) get around without a doctor smacking him (her?) senseless, and 3.) why are there no blood trails between the bed and the main room markings, yet pools of blood by the cooling mechanisms? What happened? if the blood wasnt so thick in most places, i'd think that he used his finger. Most of this is WAY to huge for that - his finger would stop bleeding before he finished one, but, all of this is...so unbelievably unrealistic. The only thing i can think of is the use of somebody else's blood... i have a sneaking suspicion that the worker who 'committed suicide' really didnt, and that the story is a cover so as to not freak out lucy. Hi!
I noticed many people asking how to get to the e-mails and thought i would give directions to clear things up

NOTE: this is all from my memory feel free to correct me

1) you will return to your room and find your cabinet opened, inside you will find a code to unlcok your room's door

2) Near Lucy's computer you will pick up a pen that will allow you to access lucy's computer. In an email it will mention how Vidic allways has his access pen hanging out his pocket

3)Vidic will wake you up in a mad mood and stand near the window with his back to you, pickpocket his pen from him(if you havent done thid by the end of the game you have to restart the game(sorry))

Much of this sounds familiar to a planetary geological event called "Pole shift theory."

Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pole_shift_theory

In a nutshell, the natural over-accumulation of ice at the North/South pole cause the earth to wobble, and eventually switch onto an entirely new axis of rotation. This causes the North/South pole to relocate to new areas of the world, melting the existing icecaps and forming new ones. This would also cause the world's oceans to swell along the newly formed equator, causing entire land masses, including continents, to sink into the ocean, while new (or prehistoric) bodies of land emerge from the ocean.

There is still a lack in evidence as to how often it happens, or how quickly it happens, but it is a theory that ties in nicely to the annihilation of prehistoric advanced civilizations, sinking of Atlantis, and the ending of the Mayan calendar (some believe we are already past-due for another pole shift). If the poles shifted in a matter of days or weeks, it would cause unimaginable earthquakes and tsunamis all over the world, not to mention people coming "back from their (watery) graves" and "treasures buried beneath the ground (or ocean) rise above."

Just a little food for thought.

First up I’d like to say the game was great, the only problem is it becomes repetitive at times especially towards the end, but nevertheless enjoyed it a lot.
Loved the ending as well keeps you guessing and wanting more of the game, but I can’t seem to shake the feeling this game was made with one eye on making it into a movie, am I right?
Andrewe on 3 Jan '08
I felt the game was actually quite a let down, as when bought, i expected a varied world full of different places and things to do. True, the scenery is STUNNING but Acre, Damascus and jerusalam all felt remarkably similar. The investigations were too repetitive and eventually about the time of the 2nd batch of missions in Acre etc it all got a bit boring.
The bosses were fairly easy, although saying that getting and killing Robert was quite hard, and the end of the game left me dissapointed instead of eager to prepare for the upcoming Assassins 2, which must surely be better. The end is strange because you come off the animus and left randomly in the room doing nothing. I wondered around for ages just anticipating something to do which never came. Saying all this, if this is too lead on to another game which must be true, then with the ability to create such environments and an actual story hopefully more varied and posing different missions, the next one should achieve great ratings, but this still doesnt make me feel better about the letdown i felt after completing it in about 10 hours.

This guy couldnt be that masochistic, could he?

AltairTheHawK: I hope to answer your questions with logic.
1) You easily have enough blood in your hands to make all the drawing he painted. Even if you took each digit as an ink cartridge, which is an under-estimate, think how much you can write with 10 ink cartridges! Even if you lost all the blood in both hands, and some from your arms, your brain would still function efficiently. Even if I have underestimated the bloodloss, Subject 16's drawings seem random and primitive, save the fact that they are multilingual, so they did not require a huge amount of brain activity, therefore little blood.

2) Actually, the doctors did smack him- it seems that they smacked him with a bullet from a gun. There are constant references throughout the game of Subject 16's loss of self control, eventual outburst (which caused his drawings across the walls and floors), and subsequent execution. He probably made the drawings whilst the Animus Chamber was empty, the same way as Desmond manages to sneak out from his cell to hack Abstergo's mail network. They obviously caught him the next morning, cleaned the rooms, and executed him. However, even if the walls were cleaned, you can still read the messages as they are traces of an allies blood, which you can view with your Eagle Vision due to the Bleeding Effect.

3)The thrid point is harder to adress with a single logical answer. However, the fact that no blood trails were left could be down to the fact he had fashioned a primitive writing tool, such as his toothbrush in the bathroom, or he used a towel from the bathroom to wipe away the blood trails before they dried, or both. The floor illustrations by the computer servers in the corners of the Animus Chamber may have been masked by the cooling vapour that pours out from the huge computer servers. Blood trails would arouse suspicion, so these would have been swiftly removed by Subject 16. However, the larger drawings on the floor are harder to explain how he covered them up. It could be that Subject 16 simply hoped for Abstergo to overlook the drawings, but instead simply concentrating on the continued maintenance of the Animus. Your idea that he murdered Leila is an interesting theory, but the little that the coroners report states indicates a suicide rather than a murder, and there is large evidence to back this up, such as the fact that Leila had become emotionally attatched to someone who was destined to die rather soon. She may have chosen to die rather than to live in captivity, interrogating innocents just to see them wind up dead after all their knowledge had been extracted. Or it could be that in a final desperate effort, Subject 16 hoped to save the lives of others by sending a message to his brothers, the future occupants of the Animus Holding Cell, and this is hinted in one of the messages that states "They drained my soul and made it theirs. I drained my body to show you where I saw it." The firt part refers to the extractions of Subject 16's memories, and the second part's relativity is obvious.

All in all, I do not see it as unrealistic, as all of the events that occur in the game are either scientifically feasable, if not currently possible, and all historic references are accurate. I think it is not "unbelievably unrealistic" as you put it, but rather a possible insight into a bleak future that may await us.

But what i dont get is part way through before you get on the matrix like computer thing you can steal the male scientist guys pen and slide it up your sleeve. and at the end you can take lucys pen from next to her PC. I got pretty excited cos i thought i'd end up running around assasinating them in modern day but there was no point to the whole thing.

maybe theres some secret part of the game? i doubt they'd put that in for no reason at all Sad

Good job on the codes Cool

the eye of Ra (a symbol of the egyptian god of the sun) is also present at the end of the game. I am not sure why, but i did recognise the symbol instantly. its location is to the right of the block of writing that reads: "Artefacts sent to the skies to control all nation, to make us obey a hidden crusade. Do not help them." If you go towards where the computer servers are, it is slightly to the left of the stairs. I hope this helps you to further understand the ending of this game, because i certantly didnt until i read your explanation Smile

Now I spoke with some orthodox Jewish people who speak/read/write/comprehend Hebrew on a daily basis and they said the Hebrew contained in the pictures here says "Abundant Peace".

heres a questions

1.half way through the game at some point, you can literally walk up behind vidic and pick-pocket a pen right out of his pocket, just like in the animus, and at the end, you can pick up another pen on the animus, so what are these pens used for? they seem something modern as they had little flashy lights on them.

i also have a small theory about subject 16...i think it was a girl, and my main reason for that is, considering the bleeding effect mentioned with the split personalities etc. that she suffered from, she wrote all these markings, symbols and writing, i didn't recognize many of them but the pentagon suggests it was a girl, as if im right means a protection for females.

i may be wrong, but if i am right then yeah. but im not a historian of symbols or whatever, i just hear these things sometimes.

one more question

how the HELL can they top this game now in gameplay and moves, so far they got a great storyline and cliffhanger, but its gotta make you think, just HOW?

oh yeah they should have included wall running (as in across rather than just up, you know like matrix and prince of persia)

well waiting for 2 and 3

What do you think of the pentagram? Or the joined circles?

It's a pentacle, not a pentagram. The former is the symbol of man/Earth/Universe/Forces that make up the galaxy. Latter is the sign of the devil. Easy to mix up, I understand.

When it said the war hasnt ended what dose it mean by that? The wars still goin on i understand but for that long.

i may be wrong but i think its the assassins vs the Templars war, that you are actually playing now in the animus.
it makes sense since theres spy's in the Templars where you are with the animus and there trying to rid of the world of the assassins due to the fact that their minds aren't affected by the artifacts and will become rebels in a slaved world(which apparently would be perfect)

i say again though i may be well of the charts in being wrong, just a guess
marky j on 8 Jan '08
I Think that one very important detail has been overlooked. has anyone noticed the color of the blood, even if this is irrelevant and i am wrong, in eagle vision an ally is blue but the blood is red, perhaps this wasnt subject sixteens blood. just to throw it out there
slickjr on 8 Jan '08
Two points:

1. The Hebrew writing -- whether "Abundant Peace" or "world to come" -- seems to refer to the New World Order that the Templars wish to bring about. But peace and order at a huge price -- the theme that emerged through the assassinations.

2. It seems to me that "piece of Eden" is something of a pun. What is being sought is really the "peace of Eden" -- safety and peace for all. But whether it's the peace sought by the Templars (under their own brutal and calculating hand) or the peace sought by the Assassins (peace through human cooperation and brotherhood) is the conflict to be fought out.
Gadfly22 on 9 Jan '08
Dating back almost one thousand years, all of us have more than one ancestor.

Subject 16 will be the subject of all the Assassin's creed sequels, as he wrote all of the multi language symbolism on the walls, etc.

Simple explanation: S16 has Arab (Assassin) ancestors, Hebrew ancestors (possibly or it may simply be a carryover from the multilingual Arab ancestor), and most likely (and simply) ancestors from other cultures (Mesoamerican, Chinese, Ancient Egyptian, Celtic, etc.).

It's too simple NOT to make sense.
smurdge on 10 Jan '08
ok i have a question that nobody will answer.
what if anything can you do with that pen you pickpoket from the evil doctor about halfway through the game

pirates21 on 12 Jan '08
my roommate has an interesting theory about subject 16. we thought it was interesting that subject 16 knew so many languages. well enough to write them with his/her own blood anyway. so we thought maybe that subject 16 gained the ability to write in these different languages by syncing to the memories of multiple ancestors. by that i mean not only reliving the experiences of one ancestor like desmond syncing to altiare, but a few ancestors from a few areas. this would explain the ability to speak the different languages, and also it would explain why subject 16 wrote: "i entered the abyss and never returned". because syncing with that many ancestors and spending that much (alleged) time on the animus would eventually lead to the excessive "bleeding" together of subject 16 and his/her ancestors. it makes sense that the "abyss" is referring to eventually being trapped in the memories. which in turn means we might get to meet subject 16 when visiting our memories the sequels?

i told him even if that theory is wrong, that's a damn good theory and deserved to be mentioned

I have a question that I'm shocked no one has asked:

Right before Al Mualim dies, I believes he asks something like why did his plan fail. Altair says something to him in what I think is Arabic? And he then says something like "Yes, that must be so".

Does anyone know that language Altair said to Mualim and what it translates to?

Oh yeah, and to prove that Lucy is indeed not with the Templars, right before they leave you can use Eagle vision on Lucy is blue (ally) and Vidic is red (enemy). Has anyone mentioned this/done this? There is no more need to speculate about her intentions I guess.

There is something about Desmond I dont like...he seems completely clueless about whats going on, that it irritates me...it very obvious that Vidic intentions are evil, and Desmond attitude.....especially when Vidic told that the Assassins that came to rescue him were killed, he seemed unaffected...in the next game I hope he gets a revision.
angelofdeath275 on 13 Jan '08
Very well done on the research, you helped me alot. now the question remains, are you an Assassin or a Templar? Its obvious you are an inside man of sorts.

Anyhoo, some things came to mind. noticed the fact alot of clues are left about 2 cultures; the aztecs and the chinese(?). Now, if you visualise both cultures , wouldn't you say there is alot of building climbing action in there? Yep, it sounds shallow, but what if the next AC is about a ninja in another time (and another subject, perhaps?). As far as i could see, Altaďr seemed like a ninja to me.

the clues left me clueless. Even better, i had so many question, and now im typing this, i forget them all. Great.

stunning visuals aside, this has got to be one of the most boring, convoluted games i've ever had the displeasure of playing. from the monotonous dialogue to the repetitive gameplay, this was pure torture to get through. surely, it's a ridiculous state of affairs that for us to really have an adequate sense of what the hell was going on in the game, we had to read the full breakdown here? did you guys work out these theories for yourself or did ubisoft feel that they had to spill the beans because no-one actually 'got it'? you deserve a knighthood if it was all your own work. mind you, i switched off after the third assassination cut scene - blah, blah, blah (get to the point, why don't you?). if i ever feel masochistic enough to pick up the next one on the 'pre-owned' shelf, i hope you get the option to just knife those irritating drunks and beggars and the rest of the population stands around laughing and spitting on them. waste of time.

Cheers for this CVG. Some interesting stuff here which actually makes me less angry at the completely abrupt (Read: Non-existant) ending. Still nothing satisfying enough to be worthy of a game ending, but what can you do. Loved the game but the last couple of hours were so sub-par. Fighting my way through wave after wave of enemies, I hate when games do this, and just being dumped by the game like that didn't improve my opinion of it Razz

Still, some interesting stuff for a sequal. I suspect Desmond will feature as the main "present day" character still, but I wonder if there will be multiple ancestors rather than one single one. Altair might show up again but if anything the ending basically pointed out that this goes way beyond the Crusades. Whether they will all be Desmond's ancestors or not remains to be seen I guess.

the second or third, probably the third, shouldn't be based on the animus. if there are assassins about, they would eventually spring desmond, and it would make a kickass game to be a modern day assassin. almost like hitman, but much more agile, and with emotion and hair.

This has already been mentioned once, but i figured i would throw it out there again in hopes of getting a couple people to think about it.

Those who worked (primarily i Acre) to get all the bars, and did all the investigations, on of the informers mentions to Altair a woman, (by the name of Ana i believe) and asks if she has came back. then says no. Could it be that Altair already HAD a love life, and perhaps this Ana (another assassin) left him after recieving a child.

Farfetched? yes, but maybe someone else saw something i didn't see or has more to say about this. Very Happy

Well, thats all very well but it doesn't change the fact that after hours of the same boring repetitive tasks I did not wish to use my codex to break the bloody DaVinci code. I was much rather in the mood for a nice cup of tea, to which I could employ the game disc to support nicely.

in the "We are all books..." paragraph why is the word IRREPARABLE all capitals...is there a hidden meaning behind this or is Subjuct 16 trying to stress something?

Also just just came to me while i was eating...earlier in the game when your Desmond, Lucy tells him that the answers are all around him when she is leaving...is she refering to the blood? does she have eagle vision also? this just strengthens the idea of Lucy and Desmond bieng linked by Altair some way...or possibly the girl that Altair did not kill...
which now also brings me to the point of the one mission when one of the assassins asked Altair of a woman and if she has returned? Ana i believe... i dont have any answers to this just an idea...because Altair is missing a woman in his life could possibly be why he didnt take the one womans life who pretends to be robert. I doubt it is the same person but maybe something about her reminds him of Ana...idk but theres something about her that makes Altair not take her life...just throwing some ideas out

i just realized after reading like the second or third page of posts ,so i.dont know if this has been posted before, it seems that all three religions , like in real life have similiarties and they all also have their darks sides. the games seems to point out theses similarites. Hence the Hewbrew and arabic and of course english. These artifacts (3) have basis in all three relgions (dont know anything about islam)as well as their being three holy books. Quran Torah and...is there a name besides bible for the Christian book? anyways the number three is previlent here. Three animals three languages 3 computers 3 characters in the "present" (desmonds time) 3 artifacts,Three rooms in the "present", three assain bases(mission cites), 3 main cities. is it three prevelent lagnuges? not sure. anyways the 3 is very prevelen and three is a clear connection between the religons as well as the writing you can see the are a ll philosophical. i belive there are 3 games. Im probably going crazy but yeah.....
p.s. im excluding minor religons

Mr. Pellet, why don't you drown yourself with the story! The game doesn't, "hint lies", so keep your own personal bulls**t beliefs to your self. Do your self a favor and read the statement with the white back ground on the television screen after you load the game. It will tell you that the game was made by people with different religions and beliefs. The game is not trying to tell you that Christianity is fake, remember it's just a video game.

In an earlier part of the game (one of the times when you wake up) Vidic stands behind his desk and looks out of the window. At this point you can steal his Access-Key Pen by taking it out of his coat pocket, neither he or Lucy will notice. The next time you are alone in the Lab, you will be able to get on to Vidic's computer.

btw, if you have already got to the end of the game you will have to start all over again.

Almost all of the references to possible settings of the next games have no basis in press releases, as far as I know, and there is not sufficient evidence to jump to such conclusions, unless you suppose the next two games play out as Altair attempting to track down the other artifacts (even that seems unlikely, as Altair seemed overwhelmed by the power of the first one)

I deplore your use of weasel words, as you say "Desmond may possibly this," and the next game may "possibly be set." If there's only a possibility, with no real evidence to back it up other than a massive leap over logic, then it's not worth mentioning.

The mayans did not believe any significant events would take place on the 13th cycle of their long count calander, so far as I am aware.

Your speculation into the existence of Christ and a coverup is blither, and I hope others view it as such.
Of course their are Christian vibes from the characters: it's set in the bloody Crusades, if you hadn't noticed. There're other religious vibes as well, and Christianity doesn't get any excessive ammount of attention.

Why the hell is it "likely" the holy grail exists? Why is their biggest mistake ignoring its existence? Which hat did you pull those rabbits from? So subject 16 left these messages telling you the location of an artifact. That doesn't mean it's the holy grail. It could well be, but you're jumping to conclusions and that's why I'm complaining in the first place.

One final thing. The meaning of the "Visions of the future" achievement isn't obvious, and I rather think you missed it completely. Almost all of the references on the bedroom wall (which is what you get the achievement for viewing) are to the end of the world, whether definite proved links to past beliefs, mathmatical theorems involved with chaos theory (the lung-shaped image on the wall is a 2D representation of the Lorenz Attractor, a notable item in chaos theory. The stranger sun-like image is a Mandelbrot set, which uses chaotic fractals.) Therefore, it seems likely to me the glimpse of the future is the discovery of references to the end of the world. And I think that it's a very clever little device that is shamefully missed by the majority of players.

it really says"artefacts sent to the skies to control nations to make us obey a hidden crusade not help them."

and the triangle says"they drained my soul and made it the irs(or something like that)i drained my body to show you where i saw it." then the triangle looks like an arrow pointing either to the animus or to the bio-hazard sign.

During the game I knew that Desmond was going to get killed, all those remarques from Vidic made more then enough sence to me. But while i was playing, between every Animus session I used to check everything I ould wich resulted me in getting Desmond's Room's lock code and afterwards Vidic's and Lucy's Computer Pen wich made me able to enter theyr compueters ad see all the e-mails that they were getting...everythng started to make sence and made me able to read Project Lead #9. Lucy appeared to be my savior. BUT, I started to realize that the Lucy might have been a descendend of the Female Templar that was the assasin's Ninth hit target that was spared due to not realy being Richard.
SO i started to think that it would have been quite possible to Lucy was aware of that and changed er was as a descended of that female Templar.

PS: The Hebrew writings quoting "Haolam Haba" wich means The Life After This, "The Afterlife" who it may intrest then I hope this pleases you beause finding out wha the Arabic and Cinese ment was also.

Just a few secrets for you if you don't already know!

Lucy is a modern day Assassin, hence she is missing a finger on her left hand (to enable her to use the Hidden Blade) she will help you in the sequel.

Lucy and Desmond are relatives, although they do not know it yet.

Lucy is blue in eagle vision and the doctor is red.

The Holy grail is the objective for the 3rd and final game in the series.

I am great!

It's spelled artifact. No "e"

Not for us British it's not. Artifact is (generally considered to be) the American spelling. In fact, it's interesting to see that the emails all say artifact (Abstergo's an American corporation) but the block of writing spells it artefact. Subject 16 could well be British…

I'm guessing he may have been from Hong Kong, but I could be wrong.

i would just like to point out the use of different languages inscribed on the wall. it would be highly uncanny for one person to write a message in different languages to inform someone. so i've came to the conclusion that subject 16 is either multi-lingual OR there has been multiple previous subjects from different cultures and backgrounds that suffered the same fate as subject 16.

Okay this made my mind jump. Maybe it wasn't just subject 16, but subjects 12-16, that would explain the many different languages...just a thought

This is my thoughts which are totally random...do you think that there are these 3 different languages on this wall because there are goin to be 3 diff games? Is it possible that you can only read some of these(the game is in english so the parts you are "supposed" to be able to read will also be in english) passages now and in the future games the other two languages will be revealed? Like maybe Desmond cant read these either because he lacks the knowledge of these languages and by using the animus in future games he will learn these languages and be able to read them. Like the second game could take place in china hence him learning chinese etc. So maybe you arent supposed to know what these phrases meen and they will be revealed to you when you reach that point in the storyline. Then again im just asking if other people think this too?

ya i cant get into the other comps either only lucys wtf

To get into vidics ou have to steal his pen when he has that long moment standing and staring out the window, just before you dive into the animus for he 3rd or 4th time. As for the conference room, read Vidic's emails, one of them from the company owner tellls you the pass code, I believe.

Let me sum it up for you as a man who lives in Israel and speaks Hebrew as his mother lip:
The Hebrew writing "ňĺěí äáĚŕ"(I'm not sure if you can read it, but its exactly what's written in hebrew in-game) or "Olam Habah"(if you convert it to English letter) means:
Olam = World.
Habah = The Next.

So literally is says "The Next World"(which refers to the turn the world will suffer from Abstargo at 21/12/2012), but if you think of it as an expression it can mean "The World After" as if "Heavean", or "Hell" if you'd like.

That's it. That's the true meaning of it. NO other translations can be applied here whatsoever.
For me its like asking you what "I love cats" means.

Ok look, let us say that the writing on the walls was from subject 16 alone and even that he/she went animus diving into more than one ancestor, there is noway that the other languages were learned through this. In the game early on Desmond asks why does everyone in the past talk like the present and Lucy says that the animus changes all the dialect so that it is easy to understand. Now I know, "What a humongous contradiction!" I mean, I heard all of those various gaurds yelling about in Hebrew or Mulsim too. But, for the sake of the game's story I am sure that he could not have learned another language from the animus.

WHAT DID ALTAIR SAY TO AL MUALIM BEFORE HE DIED? -- it was in another language. I suspect it will be very important because of the language shift and the passive use of this inormation (you only get to hear it ''once'')

ok guys here is what i understood after finishing the game for second time , the last arabic sentence that altair said after almualim told him that its impossible students never kill their teachers , then altair said something in arabic that means "nothing is impossible" or " impossible is impossible" in english Wink know a little arabic helped me for once Very Happy

Yea, I remember about that. It was the informant mission, right? I think it's probably someone linked to the future (like you said, Lucy could be a descendent since she treats Desmond with kindness)

I doubt Ada is the Templar woman, though it was funny that she kind of looked like Lucy (kind of)

And also about Olam Habah-
Probably relates to the religious context the templars (who did fight under Christ and God), and how they probably believe if they create a better world, they can go to this "Next World", a.k.a, Heaven.

Plus what UBIDEV wrote after the final battle, it's probably Altair who will lead the people with the artifact, for better or for worse, due to he is immune to it (as well as the other assassins, as they are still normal near the ending)

Hope some of this was helpful or sparked some ideas for the future. Twisted Evil I feel evil now. Very Happy

I think "Fathers of Understanding" are either their leaders, of the assassins, or talking about the deity/deities they believe in, asking them to help them with their task, or grant them wisdom (kind of like how we pray to God or someone to ask for a heavenly guidance).

iSim on 26 Jun '08
I Gave it a few minute's thought, and came up with this theory:

The Animus does not simply act as a projector. It Can take some of the code out of the DNA, but it is more down to Desmond himself. The Animus takes the cfode and creates a situation EXACTLY like the one Altair faced. It then placed Desmond as Altair. As this has been done before, Desmond would have done exactly the same thing as Altair would have. So in that respect, Desmond IS Altair. however, humans are not slaves to that code, but write new code when a situation occurs that has not happened before. Thus, the first thing one thinks to do in a situation is the closest piece of code in one's system. Although the code forms one's first instinct, One can ignore it if desired, and the memory of doing so can rewrite the genetic memories. This brings us to the issue of synchronization. When Altair gets hurt, or breaks a tenant of the creed, one loses synchronization with the character, i.e, begins to forge his own path in the world thrown around him by the Animus.

I just beat the game for the first time earlier today/tonight/whenever and recognized alot of what was written, and everything except one thing works for me. I havent gone through every page on the forum here so forgive me if it's been stated.

The article says that the pyramids were mayan. I honestly don't think that is true. if you look jsut left fo the stairs from the side the exit door is on you can see the eye or Ra (or horus, i forget which, 90% sure it's Ra) which is an Egyptian god. I'v done a few school reports and college papers on the pryamids at Giza, and the pyramid formation looks almost exactly like the formation of the 3 pyramids, with the final one of Menkaure being just smaller and off the line which is supposed to represent Orion's belt. with the eye of Ra there it makes me think only of Giza.

just my 2 cents.

you guys mentioned the USS Eldridge and Yonaguni. check wiki apparently the USS Eldridge was station at Okinawa for several years. Yonaguni is Okinawan language for a town located in Okinawa, Japan besides also having the same name for the west most island with a town again called yonaguni with the ancient submerged architecture that you guys later mentioned.
Since the game mentions both the Philadelphia project with a date of a major conspiracy theory dealing with the USS Eldridge and that the Eldridge was station in Okinawa having a town of Yonaguni, its all strangely related...and tells me these guys really thought about all this crazy crap at the end...or that im really bored.

p.s the day after lucy showed me her missing finger i looked at her hand wile she was typing and noticed it had miraculously grown back

Obviously subject sixteen was also a descendant from an Assassin or else he would not have opposed the Templars, and would not have been chosen to access his memories. I believe that Lucy is the descendant of the women disguised as Robert, and Lucy was one of the former subjects for her ancestor is Ada, and lost by ALtair, she feels betrayed and joins the Templar Knights. When the game began I immediately knew i was going to assassinate Ali Mualim. He was unsurprisingly a Templar. also these writings are from the future as the achievement is visions of the future....another subject predicts this will happen. I don't personally believe this, just a small theory. I definitely believe in secret groups, and believe that th secrets are locked in the artifacts.

ok, i think im the only one whos thought this up but if someone has said it already then im repeating it.

ok, i think leila (or whatever her name is) is subject 16. this is because as someone mentioned, the blood is red. she is a templar but becomes friends with lucy and decides to leave a message for her when she becomes an experiment instead of a colleague. she leaves a message for lucy but is killed and her death is covered up. vidic covers the death and the blood up but lucy has suspicions about what happened. i think that leila was very smart and put everything into codes and pictures from multiple languages and made sure that she died before she was used as an experiment so that they couldnt fidn anything from her. i also think that leila might have been a decendant of the lady altiar left alive and when she saw that memory she decided that she would repay her debt by trying to save lucy.

this i s my opinion and it does fit when you think about it.

ps. because leila is friends with lucy she doesnt tell vidic that lucy is an assassin

it does work

pss. lucy does have a ring finger but she hides it for one scene

psss. this is a late reply i know but i only just found the forum and thought id add my bit Rolling Eyes

Has anyone seen the new Indiana Jones Movie? And if you have then could the image above the bed be an alien skull? I believe people have mentioned the crystal skulls somewhere in here...oh by the way, maybe this entire game is a message to the gamer to be aware that our government has "artifacts" or satellites in space "controlling" the nations through mind control or "the media" and that instead of buying cell phones and other forms of technology which allows them to more easily "triangulate", hence all the triangles, our location on the earth and follow our every movement on and off the world wide web, we should do as Lucy tells Desmond. She tells him the answers are right in front of him. Maybe the answer to true world peace is the feminine. Altair does not kill the only female character in the game other than Lucy and Lucy shows Desmond her "ring" finger showing that she no longer has it. And in the ring finger their is a vein which runs directly to the heart, so by cutting off the ring finger not only does it allow the assassins to use the hidden blade but it represents that they have lost a life line to their heart. Maybe that is what the order of the assassins are, a group of people who have all lost a great love. Sorry, starting to digress. My point is, there is a message in the game not only about the game but also about ourselves as people and the world in which we live. And that message might be Peace and love are right in front of us if we are willing to see it and sometimes technology do nothing more than keep us from finding that love and peace. Okay...getting off soap box now.
Quahman on 24 Sep '08
Maybe 16 is Altair and he picked up on all those different languages and things because he gained immortality with an artifact b.c he did gain a map from eden 3 at the end so maybe they searched for the other artifacts over the next how ever many years and altair (16) might be Desmonds father so Desmond inherited all that his father knows, far fetched but just trying to strike further ideas!

the two symbols on the wall behind the bed may not only symbolize the butterfly effect. An interesting theory may be that it has to do with a significant event that may actually occur in real life like the comet planet nibiru for instance. If you look closely at the two rings it looks like it may be showing the cycle of planets revolving around a sun. This is thought to be because of the shape of the ring notice how one part is smaller in distance from the center to represent summer and winter i.e. planets revolving around a sun and the fact that there are two is showing that there will be a "solar system collision" or at least bodies from one system entering in another while still belonging to its own solar system i mean seriously these things have to much behind it for it not to have at least some bit of truth and for those of you out ther who can keep an open mind id like to say that there are people out there who are finding out the truth and are incorporating it into games books and movies etc; so that those of us who are smart and willing to keep an open mind that there are things being hidden from us for instance if the government knew that a planet almost the size of jupiter was going to pass by us but not hit and speed up the earths rotation on its axis and screw up the planets magnetic poles that could cause lots of problems they would not tell us to keep from causing widespread panic. And actually there is actual visible proof that this comet planet exists and its actually headed this way and is estimated to pass by us sometime in the year 2010 coincidence i think not type in nibiru in google and look it up. And actually the evidence i was talking about that its coming is real. The objict can be seen but only on certain dates and only if your in the southern hemisphere but within about 6 months to a year all people all over the world will be able to see it just by looking into the sky. Not trying to scare anybody just trying to inform you.

Man, i gotta hand it to however many people went into the makengs of this entire game. its astounding the knowledge needed to create all those blood writing codes and just this unbelievable storyline must have required the work of geniouses to create.
On another note, i heard from some friends that the crossbow was non-existant, that they just put it in the opening credits and didnt have the time/game funding to put one in the game.
Also, when you save all citizens/climb all view points do you get any type of special reward?

This is incredibly well explained, but one thing still bugs me. At the end, after defeating Al Mualim, and your friends arrive, the artefact gives off a holographic image of earth. There are locations marked on the earth, glowing orange dots, in different parts of the earth. What do these mean?! Could they be the locations of the other artefacts? Please get back to me.

very well done. amazing little details. a few connections i made while reading this: Could Atlantis be the pre-Noahh/pre-earthflood world? could that world have been technologically advanced? Could this be the source of this peace of Eden tech? notice the doomsday date and the approaching comet-planet. just food for thought. Smile

ok mabe sum1 thot of this before but ill say it neway. maybe the reason the blood on the walls is red is because subject 16 was a templar. maybe subject 16 was leila who voluntarily chose to use the animus to help the other templars but realized that what the templars were doing was wrong and decided to leave behind messages to help the next person who came in. any thoughts?
acgod on 2 Jan '09
i kinda agree wit that other guy. the sword in the ground at the templar camp does hint strongly towards excalibur or sumthing. and if it was for respect to the dead soldiers grave, i dont think they would have dug a hole that deep and that wide for just 1 soldier. cant wait for

Maybe Altair(the assassin you play with) is test subject 17.
Because, if you loook closely at 17 ffaces you will find a scar across his face and the exact scar across altair's face.
I dont think scars are inherited Razz, otherwise we would be full of scars our anscestors recieved.

well since this game has lots to do with religion, and i also read some of the comments (not all) but some asked what the star ment by the Animus.

this star is most likly a pentagram. with the top pointing up it is a wicca symble. each point of the star is an element that are summoned in rituals for protection. but if you look at it from the other way, and it points down, then it is a satanic star, representing a goat, the animal satan disguised himself as. the top points are goat horns and the sides are the goats stash, and the mouth is the bottom. Twisted Evil ... tiz game is really religious...

just cause people dont like them dont mean that there left out... i didnt see any other answer.

BTW ty for the info.

I think I might know where part of the ending to Assassin's Creed is going...
Yoniguni (AKA Yonaguni) is an island in the south of Japan, it's part of the Okinawan Islands. It has been speculated that there are ancient ruins under the water there and legend believes it to be an ancient land called Lemuria or "MU" as it's also referred to. Here are some photos that were taken of Yoniguni underwater, they're quite remarkable... http://www.altarcheologie.nl/index.html?underwater_ruins/yonaguni/introduction.htm

Has anyone thought that Lucy could be another person's ancestor, other then the fake Robert. Girls don't only have girl ancestors, they have guys to and vice-versa. So Lucy could have been related to anyone from a begger to a crazy man to a guard to Altair. I highly doubt it that she was related to fake-robert chick. Rolling EyesRolling Eyes I also think that when Desmond said he wasnt an assassin anymore that could mean he was like a hired gun/hitman and then quit when it came back to bite him in the bottom. Twisted Evil

It is speculated that beneath Yoniguni is Atlantis. Many anthropoligists believe that to be true. I myself believe that it us a preculture to Atlantis, only beacause the technology is different. SO this could possibly be true. Especially since Altair is meant to track down pieces of Eden. And if it is Atlantis beneath Yonaguni then with the technology Atlantis supposedly has: high tech, more avanced than even today, a Piece of Eden must be involved. Just one of my many theories

I mentioned this before also. I mean, its possible that like a later person said,he was a hitman. But with a stpryline like this one, and altair being an assassin, to me that is improbable. Most liekly, he is Altair, or at least knows about hsi ancestor being an assassin

and also, if u look at it scientifically, the reason the ruins would now be underwater is because the sea level rises less than a centimeter(about 1/4 of a centimeter) each year. So this atlantic culture lived above water, and the sea level has risen now to put it underwater. IT is only 30 meters, 3,000 centimeters. That means over 12,000 years

I have a idea about subject 16 and the person who committed suicide. Subject 16 put his/her blood all over the walls, so he/she was killed by Abstergo. The person who committed suicide could have cared for subject 16, so committed suicide because of grief.

I also have another idea about Altair, Ana, and the woman disguised as Robert. Altair had a kid with Ana. Then she left or something. Later he spared the woman disguised as Robert because she looked like Ana. The kid that Altair and Ana had went had more generations all the way to Desmond. I believe that Lucy and Desmond are related since Lucy looks like the woman disguised as Robert. And that goes back to my idea of the woman looking like Ana so that's why she was spared. Of course this idea is most likely not true since Lucy and Desmond look nothing alike, just putting it out there.

I was thinking about the three animal Drawings in the room and seeing as the game is set to be a trilogy could the animals represent the three ancestors that we may encounter Altair being the hummingbird?

Also I was thinking about Desmond being Altair's descendent, Altair would have had to have a child after the events which take place in AC1 in order for the child to have the genetic memory of those events..

I highly doubt this is the case but if one of the dots (points for other artifacts) is in Florida, it's possible that one could be the fountin of youth. thus this could make Desmond, Altiar, and the new guy (Ezio) for AC2 all the same person then that would explain the scar, their looking alike and why Desmond says he's not an assassin anymore. Only parts of it that dont make sense is that he'd have to regrow his ring finger and forget the memories or pretend to forget them.

I don't think this is the case but still it dosnt hurt to put it out there.

This is for the people who can't get the pens to access the computers. 1 for the door to your room is gotten when you search locker when Desmond notices it's open. The 1 for Lucy is when the animus overheats, go back in your room and then leave (you have to have 1 from locker). The 1 for Vidic you have to take when he's angry in the morning and goes and stands at the window.

Actually I read over the lettering for the block of lettering and your deciphering ended up being 80 letters. In fact actually the grid is a 9X9 grid meaning that the actual sentence should contain 81 letters. 1 more than is shown in your spoiler. Also for the triangle text, yours contains 66 letters while the pyramid contains 64. to do the math the pyramid adds 2 for each row and it contains each row so add; 1+3+5+7+9+11+13+15 and you'll end up with 64. so far those are the mistakes of caught with you work. Meaning I will most like find more and I'm not meaning to be critical, but I would like not to have to go through the trouble of disproving a website so people aren't being lied to.

After going through it 7 times I still find it a fun challenge to be encircled by 20 or so guards and trying to kill them all with a hidden blade without being struck at all. I stumbled upon the fact that once you lock onto any of the guards and Altair selects a sword or short blade(depending on which one you used last) you select the hidden blade, hold down the right trigger(if memory serves) and at the right moment of their swing press the attack button and you will kill even a Templar in a single attack. Depending on the guards type of attack is how you kill them,,, like a hidden blade through the temple followed by a round house to the face is most rewarding. Of course you have no defense other than dodging. It's also easy to study the lesser guards moves so that with their wide, circling, delayed swing allows you to press attack at the right time kick to the groin punch to the face and they stand there dazed. Then its up to you if you want to stab them through the skull with a delightful crunch(short blade) kick their knees in backwards or grab and throw them. If you keep trying different combinations of knives at various quick intervals along with studying each individual rank of guards moves you will find the game to be worthy of going back through any portion time and time again

Does anyone know if you can select a target from a rooftop and kill them with the hidden blade as you jump down on them to the ground the way it shows him doing in the intro movie after he finishes his assassination with the assistance of a crossbow we never get to use?

Just a heads up on the final scene with the eye in the middle of the triangle, its actually not a Christian thing, it's refered to as by the achient Egyptians as the "all seeing eye". Its more commonly known as a symbol from the Illuminati (possible involved with or are the 'Templars'.) So as you can see it has nothing to do with the Christians since a triangle is never refered in the Bible as a refernce to the Holy Trinity. What I find interesting though is Assassin's Creed 2 is set in old 15th Centeury Italy when the Illuminati was first coming into power over the Cathlic church at the time, they are very powerful men and it seems fitting that they would have another aftifact for Altir to 'aquire'. So that was it! Great site!!
Oh and another interesting fact... take a look at the one dollar US bill, you will notice the piramyd with a tringle on the top with an eye... as I said powerful men if you can get your sign on American money!

well at least some ppl can tell the difference between japanese and traditional japanese... ( -_-)

“e‚ÉŠp?E?E?Ethe chaos effect and the butterfly effect are exactly the same thing...who actually would think they are not?

aha •ł! How the heck are you supposed to know ur supposed to pick pocket the doc.?

the few refferences to japanese things and alot of refference to chinese things confused me. with both of them all about the place, it got kind of difficult to tell one from another in some places. i noticed if u go into the animus (latin for soul Very Happy ) after u end the game, killing civilians no longer results in loss of sync. WEIRD? probably not u've completed the game alls there so your already in sync.

games been good. but i talked with someone who works at a game place and he said he thinks that because most of the 2012, or "present time" views looked as if they were views through cameras, it may be that in the third one will be based in the distant future. not as likely, but does raise new questions if you asked me.

the titles assassins creed, it will have something to do with religion. haha

dont see any unlocks after killing all templars and obtaining all the flags and scaling the towers/view points because what is there to give you? theres no actual game menu with settings and like concept art of anything. which there should be...i also wanted to change the game language after watching the credits and seeing "japanese version:" and a whole crew and voice cast. what a shame! will a jap game work in a UK ps3??? probs not without a crack/chip of sorts.

also noticed that the guy who did the voice over for the Third Hokage in Naruto plays alot of the old men BG voices. ALOT. still funny hearing his voice though.

if anything assassins creed shows us that everything is connected somehow. and it takes nothing but common sense, basic education, and google to figure out

sparks0051 on 15 Sep '09
people seem to wonder why you played in the first game as desmond/altair as opposed to any of the previous subjects.

i could be very wrong, but my theory is that since this game is supposed to be part of a trilogy, you start off as the overall main character of the trilogy. in the next game however, there is a different lead character, maybe more, but odds are they have more than one ancestor they can sync with via the animus. Abstergo used this person/s to track down artifacts while eliminating other assassin's guilds and encampments looking for artifacts, they had a hard time, but they found a lead to desmond. in the next game you'll play as this person and get an idea of what happened, so you'd be playing in the past events before AC1 while in the present, Abstergo goes looking for the artifacts they possibly located due to desmond/altair, but if you read the attachment to the last memory block, altair didn't destroy the artifact, so when abstergo comes back to desmond to further dig into altair's memories they induce more of the bleeding affect, thus bringing altair's skills into desmond.

Q. What about 13.0.0.0.0?
A. This refers to 21/12/2012 again. To be more precise, it is the date written in long count form and marks the beginning of the thirteenth Baktun.
I would also like to recommend Viagra Online.

Q. What is 22:13?
A. Revelations 22:13. "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." There are also a few alphas and omegas scrawled on the giant mural.

<insert praise of game's inspiring storyline, despite repetitiveness; especially like the believable wisdom of the characters and how the positive points of the enemy goal are accepted instead of just being villanised like all other games/movies because "they're the bad guys">

Just a few of my thoughts on things:

Regarding the writing: I think however you look at it, multilingualism has to be involved in some capacity - and logic/deductive reasoning would suggest that all of the writing is done by one person.

If it was done by different people, how would they know where to write to avoid overwriting the previous writing? To answer this, you'd have to bring the eagle vision into it - but this is a skill only of assassins (and possibly only of Altair or those specifically of his blood line e.g. Ezio) and I very highly doubt that some 10 generations of assassins would cover enough cultures for there to be ancestors fluent in so many languages. Nor is there anything to suggest that "subject 16" was an assassin.

So I'd say S16 was either multilingual or had a multilingual ancestor. Maybe s/he was descended from a scholar who knew some stuff.

I don't think the visibility of the blood has anything to do with ancestry either. You know blues are allies and enemies are red and neither of those are necessarily related to you. This implies that eagle vision is a "6th sense" - hence why it picks up these mad scratchings. I think the colour is just for the sake of contrast and nothing to do with enemy/ally status.

When Desmond says he's no longer an assassin, I don't think he means he was once a hired gun. It's probable that the assassins raise their kids to be like their own kind and keep the fight going so it's more likely he was an actual assassin from the very same clan and decided to leave for whatever reason.

From what I've researched, according to some video interview, the missing finger is part of an assassin initiation ritual, but only applies to actual killer assassins so that they can use the blade. It's possible that a "missing finger salute" is an official or unofficial symbol of brotherhood. Also remember that the assassins attempting to rescue Desmond are using guns so the hidden blade is probably out of date and the symbol is merely anecdotal. Hence, Lucy still having her finger during later inspection.

As for the likeness between Desmond and Altair: I think the most obvious answer to this is retaining a sense of identity. Either that or you can assume that the animus isn't designed to accurately recreate the original participant's physical appearance (as it's not really important to the outcome).

Also a note on all this speculation of future locations: remember that the drawings are based on S16's experiences and so those locations have already been covered. Why would they need to go back to them?

That is all.

So everyone can understand about the girl that gets talked about but is never seen or explained more, try playing the Nintendo DS version so you can understand why she is so important and talked about as if it happened in the past. Some people made some really unlogical theories that I will prove wrong here:

1) DESMOND ISN'T ALTAIR!!! Altair lived in 1191 and the present-day story takes place in the 21st century. There's absolutely no way that Desmond is Altair.

2) The aminus don't let you change the past, just to watch and relive it. I think that the animus makes Desmond to relive Altair's memories, but i'm not sure if Desmond have to make the same choices
or not. Anyway, it dosen't changes the past.

3) The writings are red because blood is red, not because this is an enemy blood.

4) I finished the game for the third time and between each memory block I talked to Lucy. in one of the conversations Desmond sad his parents were assassins but he ran away when he was 16 - THAT why he said that he wasn't an assassin anymore.

5) Between the 3rd, 4th, 5th and maybe 6th memory blocks vidic turns to the window. You can steal the pen from him in each of those times, not just after the 3rd memory block.

6) My mother language is Hebrew (that's why my grammer isn't perfect) and the Hebrew writings means the next world or the afterlife. I know I'm not the first one who sad it' but there was some people who wrote other things that was simply wrong and confusing.

7) The sequel (which I'll buy tommorow!!!) takes place in the 15th century Italy, starting in exactly the same spot we left Desomnd in the first game. Altair does not appear in there, but Desmond remains the main present-day character. Desmond is using the Animus to watch the memories of another ancestor, Ezio Auditore di Firenze (pretty sure I spelled it right) so Desmond stays in the lab, WITHOUT any big breakouts or assassinating vidic (at least not until the end of the game). The "another present-day main character" or the "far east sequel" theories are wrong.

That's all for now, though i do wonder what happens when you get all the artifacts from the tombs Shocked if you know what i'm talking about... Can't wait ot play the sequel!!!!!!!

I'm so glad someone finally told people what was right and wrong! Thought about doing it myself, but didn't find the energy to do so, so:THANK YOU!

when he wonders what happens when you retrieve all of the artifacts in the tombs, you unlock altairs armor which is locked up.and by the way desmond has a dream that he is altair in the second game and he goes to make out with the female templar. so altair is ezios great great great grandfather. ezio is desmonds great great great great great great great grandfather.
