Queen honours games industry figures

UK's finest awarded for "services to the computer games industry"
The Queen's New Year Honours list isn't just designed to recognise military personnel and 'proper' business folk - 2010's list has just been published and includes a nun, a sheep farmer, a circus ringmaster and the four-times British National Aerobatic Champion.

It also recognises a number of games industry veterans you may have heard of, for their "services to the computer games industry".

Ex-Activision and Acclaim man and current Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE), Sports Interactive founders Oliver and Paul Collyer were made Members of the British Empire (MBE), while Paul Jackson, formerly of EA and ELSPA, was given the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

Good to hear - we seem to be getting closer to acceptance every day! Very Happy

I heard our Monarch is a mean hand on Gears of war 2.

Good to see the Queen cares a bit about our games industry. Perhaps we should let her run the government as well, because then the struggling devs might get more money, that the govermnment refuse to grant

Umm... TBJBIG... I think the government effectively puts the list forward to the Queen's people and they/she have the right to veto or change it these days... So it's essentially the government that won't fund these guys palming them off with (admittedly well deserved) honours, whatever their funding arrangements are.
