Ubisoft has "had discussions" about setting the next Assassin's Creed game in World War II - with a female assassin.
Speaking to Xbox World 360 in its latest issue, producer Sébastien Puel said it would make sense for a Woman to do the dirty work in the female-run economies of WWII-era France and England.
"We've had discussions on that very topic," Puel said when quizzed on the possibility of a female assassin. "It could be really interesting but we'd need to find the right time period and place for that.
"Where would that make sense? We don't want to just decide we want to change and have a female hero as the first inspiration is always the time period, but if you're talking about, say, World War II the economies in England and France were run by women because the men were off fighting.

"So maybe in this context you were a woman in England during WWII. Why not? Nothing prevents us from doing it," he said.
Plans for the Assassin's Creed series were originally focused on a trilogy of games, but now Ubisoft says it has a larger focus. "What's so great about Assassin's Creed is that we can just expand and expand," creative director Patrice Fortier told XBW.
"I'm often asked if we're doing a third game after ACII... I mean, we could do 35 of these."
AC's technology at rendering crowds would produce a fantastic recreation of the D-Day landings. Don't think there were too many women walking around on the beach that day though!
I think an Assassin in the American Civil War time period would be pretty interesting. Could play out as Assassins vs. Templats/ Unionists vs. Conferates. Could all lead up to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
Doesn't that seem EXACTLY like Velvet Assassin? I hope WWII isn't used. Firstly as it's been played out so many times and secondly I'd prefer if guns and long range weapons were kept out of AC. I mean throwing knives were cool but if rifles, etc. made their way in it'd just be a standard third person shoot-em-up.
God, WW2 has been done to death. There are far more interesting locations and times. Ancient feudal Japan would be a great setting. Medieval Europe. The Roman Empire. The American Revolution. These would be far more interesting and unusual settings. Hell, even American Colonial times could be interesting (although not great in terms of hiding places).
Anything much newer than that and you're covering familiar ground. The Middle East was an unusual locale for the first game, likewise the Venice setting of the sequel.
But playing from a sneaking-round-army-trying-to-assassinate-leaders-without-getting-the-Roman-army-on-your-head perspective would be great
And there's already a Jack the Ripper game on the way. An assassin wouldn't be suspected of being the Ripper, because an assassin wouldn't just randomly kill prossies
Having a WW1 setting would be cool in my mind because for some reason it made me think of the hospital level from Eternal Darkness. But personally I think they should stick with a guy. Not because I'm sexist but I think the Altair-type character is what suits the series best.
This is really intriguing, it would be the perfect setting for a WWII assassin game. It has sorta been done before, but AC as a game and the game engine would make such a game complete.
I think that they should make games for the 6 statues from AC2, they "supposedly" assassinated some of the most well known people in history... It would stick to the story better than just randomly going from men with swords to women with guns like in the WW2 idea.
... they somewhat give a hint that Desmond will have to live with the world wide known 2012. it would be coll if he had to go back in time to actually stop that, instead of going to a game in WW2
Japan settings!? Ok I can understand if ur a samuria but no ninja, that's been done already million times before if, besides freaken ninjas have litte daggers. Where the creativety of a sword. Also I with the people who say a world war 1 setting would be better, but it wouldn't be the best. Take off the cliff hanger, I want to know what the rest is. Thank god that ubisoft made a good cliff hanger thaey loose sales quick. READ THIS UBISOFT!!!!!!!
