Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada has "a lot of ideas" for Tekken 7, he's revealed in a CVG reader Q&A.;
Answering a question from CVG reader 'Kain Carver', Harada said of his Tekken 7 plans: "Oh, there are a lot of ideas... I can't say too much yet, though.
"For example, we've got a new idea for a facial-expression system for when people get punched and so forth. It'd be a real thrill to see in action, so I definitely want to do that."

Elsewhere in the interview the Tekken director says that despite doom-sayers the fighting genre is "doing pretty well for itself" and he'd love to work on a cross-series fighting game.
Look out for the full CVG Reader Q&A; later today.
If the reviews are anything to go by, they should have made some of these additions to Tekken 6.
Don't get me wrong, it sounds a solid fighter - but, it doesn't seem to be of quite the same level of some of the other fighters we've had this gen.
I must admit - despite not particularly liking the Tekken series (it went a little stale after 3 for me) - I was considering giving it a go, but I doubt I'll bother now, considering some of the other games which are coming out over the next couple of months and the fact that I loathe the juggling system.
I loved SF4, but there is still a part of me that still finds VF5 the best fighter of this gen so far (obviously, that's not including FN: R4).
dont think tekken 6 will be anything but a glammed up ps2 game.
this was certainly the case for the new soul calibur. tired of it within an hour and gave it away. the fighting genre has stagnated severely. probably why we have seen so few examples of them this gen. they were rampant last gen. ran out of ideas.
I'll take Tekken over street fighter anyday but I agree on the soul calibur comment. They should have spent more time on that game instead of just adding silly hats and that awful critical finish system.

Depends what review you read. There's a few reviews already saying that it's one of the best fighters of this current gen, if not the best. OXM has given it a 9/10 and stated: "The most complete fighting game available."
T6 has been getting 8's and 9's everywhere. It certainly is up there with the best of them, and in some cases tops them.
Agreed with most comments on here. Tekken 6 is not even proper HD and it also has long loading times according to IGN. I had high hopes for this but its gone budget for me and I'll probably get it for the PS3 when I eventually buy one.
I think Namco are becoming a company with tired ideas. Facial movment is not something that makes the game more fresh in terms of gameplay. Soul Calibur went crap after the second game. They're just boring now.
Namco only really have the 'Tales' games that seem to be any good but even the side sequel on the Wii is apparently a major letdown

Yeah, I've seen a couple more reviews since my first post and they've been pretty complimentary.
Any ideas if a Demo will be made available? (is there one already?)

Is this what it has come to with today's gamers? You're put off buying the game until it's cheap (which is fair enough within reason) because it's not proper HD. Really? What game nowadays is true HD? It's not exactly like T6 is a bad looking game either. Infact, it's a stunning looking game when in full motion. Plus, I very much doubt the load times are that bad - they'll be more than acceptable.

I have no idea if there's going to be a demo available. It would be nice if there was one for people who are still uncertain.
This isn't aimed at you, Parma, but I'm not entirely sure what people are expecting from the fighting game genre. You're not going to get revolutionary steps with each iteration. In T6, every single fighter has new animations. In some cases, like Lei and Law, they've been changed almost beyond recognition.
Of course, I wouldn't expect somebody like Grasshopper to know what the fupp he's on about when it comes to these things. Attention span of a nat, with the brains to match, so it seems.
wanker. played soul calibur on dreamcast to DEATH. got every characters ending. the new one was total garabe.
and why would you need an attention span for a game you can complete in a few minutes?
fighting games are the only type of game not to evolve for a while. especially when "great new ideas" are facial expressions of hurt... street fighter has had this for many years.
namco cant cut it in this day and age. they used to be a massive name, now they are in the shadows. all their games are based on 2-minute arcade thrills with 'home' features to add artificial length.
its you with the attention deficit if you find this game fulfilling - especially since its essentially all the moves and skills you mastered a decade ago...
You're speaking like the fighting game genre is a single-player experience only. It's not. Fighting games are mainly made for human-on-human matches. Because of this, fighters can last years, if not an entire lifetime.
Maybe you should get some friends, so you can really appreciate a fighting game.

He should probably try and gain some positive personality traits first though!

or maybe you should get out your console-enabled cave once in a while.
not all people like to play games, especially fighting ones.
and playing it over the internet is even worse than playing it against real people who dont know what they are doing.
this isnt worth the money for the game or the second pad. its a tired decade old formula tarted up.
Not sure about the Tekken series to be honest- always felt a little average compared to the far superior Soul Calibur/Virtua Fighter = even Dead or Alive.
But I agree with segments of everybodies opinions-
Fighting games can last for a-g-e-s. I remember playing Marvel Vs Capcom on the Saturn for months on end. I even started smuggling it into school so all my mates could play at break time- Tekken 3 never really got a look in.
But the best fighting game I've ever played was Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast. Me + Kilik = pwnage.
I agree totally that if a fighting game is done properly, it will last for years. Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike is still the greatest fighting game ever made in my opinion. Something about parrying is just so satisfying, and I am a bit gutted that SF4 didn't take this into account. I like the ex focus system, but I would take parrying any day. I would love for this to be re-released over Live/PSn so I could play people online, as no one seems to play the xbox orginal anymore
I don't know who said it above, but I agree that Tekken has been tired from after the 3rd. Tekken 3 on the playstation was an amazing achievement, both visually and technically.

Yeah, I loved SC on the Dreamcast - Kilik was also my 'weapon of choice'....although, I was a bit tasty with Voldo too.
I'm a bit at odds with the fighting genre - I suspected that I wouldn't really buy any this gen at all, but I've ended up trying a few (actually, SC wasn't one of them). I really like the gameplay and the challenge that Virtua Fighter offers - it forces you to concentrate and variate your fighting, so I think that has to take the top spot for me so far.
SF4 is brilliant fun, but I do tend to find that people stick to their characters a bit more - so, we end up with a lot of Ryu/Ken/Sagat/Chun Li fights....but, that's really my only complaint and can hardly be levelled at the game itself - that's more down to the company I keep!
It's definitely not a tired genre though. I still think there's plenty of life in the old dog yet - I'd love to see things like Powerstone & Bushido Blade revisited.
I love Street Fighter IV, though I really haven't played that much of it. Third Strike is still my favourite 2D fighter of all time, by far. 10 years on, and the animation still looks fluid and lush. It has a nice weighty feel to the game engine, where you can really feel the hits.
