Hi Guys,
Just looking at the stats for how many people have set up links back to looperman and I think there is room for improvement.
At the mo we have about 800 links and only 160 of those have set up the correct link back code.
Maybe some of these links are dead, I deleted a load a while ago but if you spot a dead link send me some info and ill get rid of it
So, heres where you can help ....
If you have already added your link / links on looperman and have not added your link back to us then shame on you.. Check out the links section of your members area to get the correct code to link back to us.
If youve not added your link yet then why not ? Again look at the links section of your members area and add your site.
Most people seem to have a myspace site these days so lets see some looperman banners and links set up over there.
Many people seem to have acidplanet accounts too. Again show us some support and link back to us.
The upshot is... The more quality links we get sending people over to looperman the more visitors we get , the better were ranked in the search engines and the bigger and better the site gets
Also, remember that we need users to use the correct link back code so that we can track the links that come back to us. Using the correct link back code also means that your links will rank higher in link directory which in turn means that more people visit your link.
Its a win win deal and only requires a little bit of effort on your part.
Go on, you know it makes sense :-)
lets see if we can double the amount of inbound links over the next month.
Ill set something up to let everyone see some more detailed stats on all the ins and outs when i get a chance.

Well, I put a banner up on my myspace. That's about the best I can do. |
|
|
I did the same as Chimpy with myspace when ya sent out that email about a month ago. So that's 2 outta 3. I even went back and edited the banner replacing it with the one that would lead it directly to my profile here (though I can't remember which of the 2 pages it was now).
Any chance of uploadin some new banners any time soon? Speaking of which I'm gonna check out yer links now. Bows & exits! |

i like to help but dont understand half of it.dont have my space exetra.... |
|
|
cant figure out how 2 put the link on bebo, can u help? |
|
|
Yeah...stupidity is my excuse I'm afraid.
I did have a link on my freewebs site...it's still there, but hardly anyone visited my site so I deleted that link.
I don't understand how it works if we're only recommending a site and it isn't actually ours...???
I promise that when I get off my backside and sort out all my various sites then I will definitely link back here. |

I can't speak for other sites (thinking they'll be the same though), but for myspace posting codes is a breeze...
1.)Make sure the code is correct and full, no missing attributes in it's lines of text (no worries, Looperman's codes all work).
2.) Copy & paste (I find it's easier with HTML stuff to just right-click over the box, selecting 'select all', and next right-clicking again and selecting 'copy'). Once you've got the code go under "Edit profile" and select the section where you want the code to show up (for pasting just click the box where you want it to go, right-click, and select 'paste')
3.) Placement. To put the code/banner where you want it to show up is as easy as location (at the top- it'll be on top, at the bottom- it'll be at the bottom, somewhere in the middle I will cover next).
If you want it to show up between something, such as paragraphs on whatever thing you are posting it to your going to want to do a couple of things...
~i.) Find the exact spot where it will fit without cutting off lines of regular text.
~ii.) Separate by spacing where there are a few kinds...
*Spacing examples-
~_a.) Where one line ends...
And the next begins right below it.
~_b.) Where the paragraph ends...
And the next begins one extra line away, average gap size.
~_c.) Same as above two...
But with the next line being spaced out further away, like this.
-
Normally by default you shouldn't have to enter any code, but you should know that whenever you go to edit this in the future those gaps won't show up. Instead being replaced by the HTML code of "BR" surrounded by less than '>' and greater than '<' symbols (in reverse order, since I'm unsure whether this site allows for that in these boxes so it would look something like this- {BR} with '<' on either side instead, one will equal one enter and so on).
If you go to your link tab I think there's an option somewhere on there where you can get a banner containing an exact code that will link back to your profile here. Either which way, hopefully that helped and happy editing everyone. Bows & exits! |

A few new banners would be good but its finding the time to get round to making them.
If we have any good artists out there who fancy having a go then go for it and if anything great comes up then Ill add them to the list.
I went to go and add looperman on myspace the other day but noticed some guy had used the name :-(
Ive avoided jumping on the bandwagon and joining all these type of sites but maybe I should get looperman on there..
What does anyone else think ? |
|
|
I happen to edit photos with photoshop... I could probably whip up something. Though it'd be much easier if I had Illustrator. T_T |
|
|
Haha, that's great. Chimp, you make up some banners and I'll do a site commercial or two!
And Looper, let us know when you've got myspace coz I'm sure those who have it will add ya. Also, if the other guy you mentioned above is actually using "Looperman.com" or something like that you can either email that guy and try to get him to change it to say something like "Looperman.com for fans" and you can set yours up as "Looperman.com official". If that doesn't work you can always email a complaint and get that guy tossed out. Bows & exits! |
|
|
The guy on myspace already is just using the name looperman and has nothing to do with looperman.com |
|
|
Can't you call yourself 'TheLooperman' on myspace?
That way we all know that it's you.
We all have to make small sacrifices to make this site work...like I said I'm gonna try and sort out my various sites and makes sure they all liknk back here. Networking should be easy online, but the problem is there's so much bogus stuff and spam that it often puts people off.
This is one of the friendliest and best sites in my opinion so I certainly want it to be successful.
We've got some great members on here and potentially a large membership base..however, a few more people need to start stepping up to the plate by adding avatars and reviewing and such.

Looperman, do you happen to have a personal email address that I can use to send you banners with?
Oh, and do you have any specific (Uh. Can't think of the word)... Length x Width. It's on the tip of my tongue...
GAH! *Rips hair out* Resolution? Area? Hell. T_T; |

Hi, I hope you don't mind me making some suggestions:
I would check into how the looperman URLs are being listed in Google.
It looks like Google thinks all of your listings are 'looperman.com' instead of 'www.looperman.com'.
There might be something you need to correct in your apache config file so that 'looperman.com' becomes 'www.loooperman.com'. Having the two different URLs like that essentially splits the amount of inbound links you have and can effect your rankings.
You seem to have a good amount of inbound links, 3,716 to wwww.looperman.com according to Yahoo. You also have a separate smaller amount of links going to 'looperman.com'.
If Google is only seeing your site as 'looperman.com' then they might think you don't have very many inbound links.
Reciprocal links aren't especially helpful these days with Google rankings but are good if you are only looking for traffic from these links.
Text links are much more effective than banner links.
There have been many studies that show most people completely ignore or never even see banner ads.
I would concentrate on quality inbound text links and maybe fix the 'www' issue.
Just my 2 cents. |

Ooh Ooh! I got Illustrator. I was so amazingly giddy, that I made myself an AVATAR! OMGWAFFLEPANCAKES!
Oh, Looperman you best be gettin' ready son. You're about to be getting tons of banners. :p |
|
|
axgrindr - thanks for the suggestions. I thought I had the www issue covered but checked and see your right. That's fixed now.
The way I see it with links is that the more the merrier as they do bring people back to the site. As for getting better google ranking because of links I know that its the quality of those links that counts rather then the actual quantity. I know that theres only a handful of sites that bring in a decent amount of visits but the rest do bring in a few hear and there.
I also understand that the best way to get traffic is to have a good site in the first place and to make sure it works properly and is kept updated and interesting.
chimp - As far as banners go I would only use anything that I felt was quality and kept the overall style of the site. The one you sent over was not something that I would use Im afraid. I do appreciate you making the effort though and hope you understand :-) |
|
|
Hah! It's nothing to worry about. :p I made that in Photoshop. Photoshop is not something you made banners with. It's for editing photos that were already made. However! Illustrator is more about creating things from nothing. Give me a few days and you'll have some banners that I think you'd like.
I do have one question, though. Is there anything specific you want? I'm usually into the humorous banners. But, if you want me to actually make a logo that is somewhat... "Cool" I can do that aswell. |

First, I'm a crewmember of a Dutch helpforum, linking to a (commercial) website is not allowed, so the only thing I could do, was to put links to four of my tracks in my signature. At least the Looperman.com Audio Player gets some attention. :) And speaking of banners, in my opinion only the header of this site can be the material to make banners of. I do hope this link will work and I dont mess up the layout of the site (there is no preview here so I can't test :(). The sketchy banner:

|
|
Well, that doesn't work :) But you can copy and paste the url in your browser, though. |
|

I think it would be great to put looperman on myspace. I posted a link to my band sites on both my myspace pages and it doubled the traffic (which is still minuscule but hell). All my sites and both my myspaces link to looperman. You could even feature a track or loop on the page to lure people to this site (or have a competition on this site to write a theme song). Just a passing thought. Still it couldn't hurt on the myspace thing. :D |
|
|
I joined acidplanet.com just to do a back link to this site. My question now is how do I create a link back to this site? I'll start a myspace page and put a link there. Where else might we create\post links?
