Lately the forums seem to be getting in a bit of a mess.
Ive just had to remove a few threads where people are trying to sell tracka.
Please read the rules.
dont try and sell things or post ads
There are also so many posts that go in the wrong place. Again take some time to put your message in the right place. If your unsure then read the descriptions here before thinking about posting again.
http://www.looperman.com/forum.php
Another problem we have is posts that say something like
New Track, check it out !!
Seriously, if you cant be bothered to say why anyone should take a listen to your track and you can be bothered to post any info about the track and also dont post a link to the track ill start just deleting the posts.
When you link to a track link to the tracks main page rather then the player or your list of tracks in your profile.
Limit your track upload announcement posts to no more then one in any day. Any more then that and its considered spamming. If you upload more then one track per day then wait till you uploaded them all and then post an announcement.
Any future posts that end up in general messages because you wont take the time to post in the correct forum will be removed.
EVERYBODY !!!!
get familiar with the different forums available and take some time to choose the correct one to post in.
Its not that hard but very few people seem to manage it

Hey Shan,
I've got to apologize too. It's not my place to correct people or to otherwise 'Put them in their place'. I try to keep cool headed, neutral, and optimistic about everything, but sometimes I slide into making errors. I'll try to do a better job of watching that from now on.
I also love this topic, because I've been thinking about doing something like a 'Forum Etiquitte' kinda thing. Mostly for the newbs, but for everyone really. There are other things I've noticed that kinda get to me...
Like I know that this site is great for collabs, but after a while of seeing so many it gets a little...???... Annoying? Redundant? Either way, it'd be nice if those could be more organized and in some ways kept to a minimum.
Especially, whenever these requests are just vaguely generalized to stuff like...
"Wanna collab, email me"
Or similar. I mean, it's cool that you wanna team up, but come on now. Give people some kind of direction, atleast. I generally ignore these kinds of threads. The only thing that bugs me is that they bump other threads that I am following off the home page.
The other thing that annoys me is the people who don't pay attention to similar threads that have already been started for a particular thing. Like recently, I saw some 'Tips-&-Tricks' posts. That's cool and everything and I thank the people who shared the info, but it kind of negates the purpose of the Production Trickbook thread that was started a while back. Which was moved to The Ones to Watch section so that everyone would have quick access to it.
This last one is for the newbs. Do not post threads including links to your Myspace page or similar. You're on a site that offers you the opportunity to
A.) Upload your tracks,
&
B.) A separate section to provide those external links.
Most vets on here are use to this mistake and will politely remind you the same things I just did.
I can't speak for everyone else, but if you stick to your guns about it then I will consider you to be a spammer and'll ignore you until that is rectified, okay? Okay!
Don't really have anything else to say, advice-wise. Though I do have an idea for the forums which might help site navigation tremendously. For the moment I'll just say email me and I'll provide you with more information regarding them. Give me a few days and I'll even come up with a series of images to reinforce my concepts. Off for now.

Oh, and I just thought of another good one.
Don't Clutter!
Yeah, use yer head whenever ya post stuff. Lately, there have been a few that've really had no place on here. I'm not going to drop any names (of people or threads), but I'd like to remind everyone (in the friendliest way possible)...
Use your heads, please!?
It annoys me when I come to the site and see the forums littered with threads that probably shouldn't be there. That said (and in relation to what I mentioned about multiple same-purpose threads above)...
Please pay attention!?. First, I'd like for you all to look at the treads already displayed on the homepage here to see if there are any that are similar to what you were thinking about posting. Collabs, comps, Software related (questions, tips, etc). If you don't see any there then...
Second, try clicking on the Forum tab at the top of the page and looking in the category that your post would probably apply to (General messages, rants/raves, site ideas & suggestions, etc.)...
Chances are- the thing you were wanting to ask about or comment on has already been before and in some cases, several times over (Site radio station, new genre suggestion, loop issues, "how do I change my password/screen name?", "do I have permission to use the loops?", et al). In fact that reminds me of something I need to suggest below, but for now the gist of this post is that it'd just be nice if people stopped filling up the forums with silly nonsense (repeated stuff or otherwise).
Alright, now it's time for that suggestion...
Hey sir Looperman, at first I was going to recommend a FAQs section, but I see that we already have one of those at the bottom of the page. In that case, why not expand that section and break it down per part of the site?
Kinda like have one for loops, tracks, accounts, the forums, etc.
Next, post a link to that part of the FAQs at the head of each section. So that people who are having issues or questions about a particular thing can click on it to see if it isn't something that can be resolved simply (without messaging you or the mods or posting something about it in the threads).
Alright, there's my additional two cents. Hoppin off of here now. Lates mates!
PV,
DV.

Here's DV session numba 3...
Alright, so this has been something that's been on my mind for a minute now and it sorta relates to the "Pay attention" thing from above. It relates to backlogging/forum archive diving...
Please choose these older threads carefully!
It kinda doesn't make sense to go and dredge up a thread that's over x months old, ya know.
I mean, it's cool to do if it isn't something that appears to have an 'expiration date'. The kinds of threads that are transending and ultimately 'open ended'.
What do I mean by 'expiration dates'?
Well, try to think of them like Milk (or even a Plane ticket). After a certain amount of time that Train has done and left the station, ya know? And nine times outta ten it aint comin back.
For example, if someone asks a technical question from last August (and has gotten several replies on it) chances are good that whatever they asked was answered (unless that user made comments to the contrary on their last post). So it's kinda pointless to add any other input on it.
I dunno about everyone else, but typically I just treat the Forum like a Newspaper (only paying attention to the stuff on the home page, ie front page or current issue). I only back dive into 'em every once in a while. Normally, when I'm trying to track down a specific post. And usually that's only for referencing or note taking (school stuff or personal interests).
I've got to admit that when I stumble across an old thread it baffles me slightly. Especially if at first I was thinkin that it was made recently. So I scroll down the list and look for the person who brought it back and ponder- "What were they thinkin?".
Boredom maybe?
(shrugs)
Now this aint official or anything, but my stance on this is-
If it isn't 'open ended' then I consider it dead once it hits, say, one month (3 at the extreme).
Course, technically with how things go on this site. Most of the times a thread will die once it's been bumped off the home page.
(and as you know how busy and silly the forum can be at times, so that could mean less than a day)
Oops, I almost forgot one that is okay. Threads that you start to announce new tracks, loops, acapellas, etc. on.
This is actually the preferred method since it keeps everything organized to one topic. Instead of having multiple ones for the same purpose, but different whatever (eg, songs).
Beyond that, I'm gonna urge people to really read the old threads that they're thinking about posting to. Coz if it's dead than just leave it alone yall!
And I'm shutting up now (zzzzip). Haha, later on yall!
