God of War 3 bundle includes GoW Collection

First two PS2 games added to special 'Ultimate Trilogy' special edition
Sony will release a special 'Ultimate Trilogy' version of God of War 3 that'll come with God of War Collection.

There's no price or release yet, but Sony has confirmed a list of content that'll be crammed into a very stylish, cryptic-looking box - with GoW Collection easily the coolest of the lot. That's the Blu-ray disc with remastered HD versions of the first two God of War games. There's some DLC in there too.

Here's the full list:

  • God of War III

  • God of War Collection (gentle reminder, this is God of War and God of War II, remastered in HD, running at 60 fps, with Trophy support, all on one Blu-ray Disc)

Extra game content downloadable via PlayStation Network:

  • God of War Combat Arena containing an exclusive environment and seven challenges to complete
  • Dominus character skin
  • Apollo character skin
  • Phantom of Chaos character skin
  • Forgotten Warrior character skin

Exclusive video content downloadable via PlayStation Network:

  • God of War: Unearthing the Legend Franchise Documentary. This is a full-length documentary detailing the history of the God of War franchise. A must have for fans!
    Special audio bonus content:
  • God of War Trilogy Soundtrack - God of War, II, and III scores from the game
  • God of War: Blood and Metal EP - a heavy metal homage featuring original music inspired by God of War

    Additional content:
  • Artbook
  • Postcards

I never got to play the god of war games, but I'm lead to believe they are a reason for owning a PS2. So I think that the complete trilogy might well be worth a purchase for the PS3 to play it all and see whats it like. Can any one confirm if its better than the later Devil may cry games, as I found them a bit boring after the first couple.

Both DMC and NG are technical fighting games that live or die on the players enjoyment of the scrappage. Unfortunately, the stories and characters are usually very silly.

GOW games are built around epic stories and characters from Greek myth and are much more coherent. They include some clever puzzles and platforming sections to add variety. The fighting is less complicated, though it is much more brutal and satisfying, in my opinion.

Personally, I like both types - although GOW is my favourite because Kratos is a mean bast' and the setting is superb.

that's gay for people who imported the collection last month. the bundle is probably going to be £80 anyway, so i'll get it and sell the collection on ebay and make back some of that money. job done. can't wait.

Just had your morning coffee and read vg247 have you CVG.

Either way great news, I might get it but it is very geeky being packaged in Pandora's box. Just put the extra's in a standard box set and I would think about getting it.

God of War is as Mark has said fantastic story with easy controls to create accessible brutal combo's and the 3rd installment is shaping up nicely. Can't wait to fight on the back of the titan's and brutalise the Gods themselves. Will it have a happy ending, does Kratos deserve a happy ending, does he even want to be happy anymore!! That's what makes it awesome....

Wow now that is taking the pis$,Really feel for those who rushed to get the PS2 HD version now,i did think why they didn't bundle 1&2 with 3 as a prestige edition.
Almost as bad as the star wars force unleashed trying to get fans to re-purchase the game as the sith edition to play one piece of added content.
After all my COD W@W map pack woes at the beginning of the year (my reason for not buying it )and reading about AC2's dlc(i'll wait for the edition with all it's content ) and all the bugs in COD MW 2 needing patching ,i am becoming even more inclined not too buy games on the release date, even if they like dragon age offer incentives like earlybird dlc.

The fighting in God of war is less complicated than Ninja Gaiden, lol. You mean God of war is a mindless button masher that takes zero skill. I love the way you fanboys spin the truth. You should work for new labour. I've finished both God of war games, all they have going for them is the story and setting. The actual combat is p**s poor and basic compared to stuff like Ninja Gaiden, Bayonette, DMC.

It's good for noobs and casuals though, but all the QTE and button mashing can get tiring after a hour for people used to better combat games.

First half of next year is getting expensive.

I havent played the first two either, so this looks like it could be a bargain!
Barca Azul on 18 Dec '09
Oh come on they're all mindless button mashers. thats half the fun.

back on topic. Want.

Each to their own, but I don't know where you're getting this silly spin thing from. It's just my personal opinion.

GOW combat is easy to pick up, but if you want to finish the game on harder difficulty levels, then you have to master the nuances.

It's more an old-school arcade adventure, than Japanese fighting game.

And it isn't any less enjoyable for it.

I haven't played God of War yet, was going to get it for PS2, but decided to get them for PS3 instead. I'm not sure I want all that stuff with this edition, but I'll defo pick these games up when I get PS3, maybe seperately depending on price of this.
YCshinobi on 18 Dec '09
Im playing the gow collection right now....funny how they are still better than most games released today Shocked
JAKEevans on 18 Dec '09
Damn why didn't they do this in the first place instead of letting people like myself purchase the collection only to find out that now the 3rd will be packaged with it too. A ridiculous move. There's a load of great stuff in this version too - the sound tracks in particular - so yeah, more money down the crapper Sad
penguin_chilli on 18 Dec '09
I loved the first game, got bored in the second and the demo put me off the third. However i think its a great idea and a bargin for those who have either never played them or love this type of thing.

Calling Ninja Gaiden or DMC a button masher however shows that you have no idea how to play that game on a higher difficulty setting. GoW is a button masher, the other two certainly are not, but GoW has a story while the other two..erm...might do? Not that i ever really noticed. You give a little, you get a little.

Thanks for the Info Mark Cool

Depending on how much this pack costs I'll be pre ordering it once they confirm the dates etc.

No worries mate.

Awesome bundle but its going to cost at least £80-£100 and thats being conservative with the estimate. Ill probably pass and buy the collection and game separate at different times.
DAEDALUS79 on 18 Dec '09
Damn my fingers will be sore after playing GoW colection , Dantes inferno, Darksiders and Bayonetta,
I'm not sure which one I'm looking forward to the most, think Dantes Inferno just edges it though.
NEOnburN9 on 18 Dec '09
Thats gay for people who imported the collection who didnt wait and knew full well that the collection was coming to the UK in some shape or form and should have waited first Wink

It isn't really when my imported GoW collection only cost £26.99, and i'll probably have my platinums by the time GoW3 comes out priced at £39.99. Which'll mean i've paid £66.98 for both when the bundled edition will probably be closer to £80.
ensabahnur on 18 Dec '09
Im happy with my GoWC import as the price on this is going to rape your wallets.

The box looks nice but if its made out of cheapass plastic it wont be worth the spend.

Also the US GoW 3 verison comes with all the addtional gubbins anyhow and will most likly work out cheaper on import.
Miss Marvellous on 18 Dec '09
All depends the price for me as to if I will buy this or not. I already own God Of War 1 & 2 for the PS2. However I would like to own the collection on the PS3. What it boils down to is the price on this.

If it is over £80 it simply is cheeper to buy God of War 3 for £40 then import the collection at a later date or at the same time for around £35. Having said that if it is £80 you would be better off buying this.

Bottem line is im undecided. I think it is a cool package though. I can't understand people who are looking at God of War 3 (the last part of a trilogy) without playing the 1 & 2. It's like reading a book backwards.
