Take-Two has revealed a massive loss in its results for the company's financial year end of October 31, 2009.
The firm announced a loss of $137.9 million compared to net income of $97.1 million for fiscal 2008. Take into account that last year's results included the huge launch of Grand Theft Auto IV though.
Year-end highlights, says the publisher, were the following:
Rockstar Games two awards at the 2009 Spike TV Video Game Awards

Boss Strauss Zelnick explained, "Our company and industry experienced a very difficult economic environment in 2009. We believe that 2010 will continue to be challenging and our outlook, while disappointing, reflects a prudent approach to managing our business.
"The fact remains that Take-Two is in a fundamentally strong position to build long term value. We have an outstanding portfolio of hit franchises based largely on internally developed and owned intellectual property, a team of extraordinarily creative and talented people, opportunities to extend our business to new media and markets, and the financial resources to support our strategies."
It's getting ugly out there. Oh well. Take-Two would have had at least one more sale for "Borderlands" if it dropped the ridiculous SecuROM setup that installs secret files on your HDD (I don't care if it comes with a deactivation tool - that crap shouldn't even be legal...and maybe it isn't). Of course it would also help if I could actually play beyond the first 12 minutes before a black screen of death brought that game to a halt dead in its tracks. Live and learn, Take-Two, live and learn. BioWare/EA appear to have taken the message on board; at least with "Dragon Age: Origins" and the upcoming "Mass Effect 2". Perhaps you could learn something from them....
