I think they should address the constant camping problem. Not sure how they would though. It just seems like this game doesn't flow as well as the original.Maybe its just poor map design but i grew tired of this and went back to Uncharted 2 after a week.

Sort the 40ft range on all shotguns out! and ban akimbo shotguns too... and while your at it ban anyone using thermal scopes too.

FIX THE BLOODY TROPHIES.
frankthepieking on 2 Dec '09
I think that they should fix spawning. I'm fed up with people spawn camping & killing you as soon as you spawn. Im also sick of getting spawned infront of the enemy.
They should also fix the connection problems with a lot of games, a lot of the time it takes ages for it to release that the room has a awful connection.
Scotty_B on 2 Dec '09
Fix the fact that the game only uses the same 6 maps for free-for-all, over and over which is ridiculous. If players don't want to play a certain map they will skip it, but ultimately it should be down to them to decide as they're the ones actually playing the game.

personally for me

the Akimbo Shottys,is a bit too much

and the Player taking control of the Helicopter and spawn killing everyone(the one with the thermal images with the red boxes surrounding players)..that just seems too much,it was bad enough in COD4 with the automatic Helicopters spawnkilling...10x worse now

we could be having a really good tense game and then that comes along and spoils the game, just seems dumb

don't know who came up with the idea for dual shotguns but they should be fired + why the hell does the map design basically tells people to camp?

The shotguns feel totally weird, some can kill people at sniper rifle ranges (ya this is an exaggeration) while some like the AA-12 are as effective as throwing gravel when 5m away.

Bullet penetration is a REAL prob in my eyes as I've been killed by bullets through 2 concrete walls while sometimes I cant shoot through thin metal sheets. I have even been knifed through a wall! Oh yh the knife is really weird as so many times have passed where I have knifed or been knifed when the knife doesnt even make visible contact (prob with 1st one too).

Matchmaking is very poor and I always have to put up with players with astronomically high pings and I lag out even though my connection is as stable as a rock + getting into a match takes way longer than it did in cod4 (felt instant most of the time) and when you get into a match its possible to play the same map 2-3 times before 1 of the other 5 maps on rotation is selected. Anyways why is there no customization for ranked matches?

Camping is the devil in this games but IW must have knew that going in with very high kill streaks, the map design and tht retarded heartbeat sensor.

And then there's the broken spawning..............
Sleepaphobic on 2 Dec '09
Three big problems with MW2. Dual wielding those shotguns is far too powerful. If you HAVE to keep it in, at least reduce their range. Secondly, we need something to stop the sudden increase in noob tubing. Preferably, take the grenade launcher out all together, but at least doing something about it you c**ts. Thirdly, work on your spawns. I dont care about camping etc, but spawning right in front of the enemy or bang in the middle of an airstrike is a piece of p**s.
gazza_be on 2 Dec '09
The biggest problem for me are the maps. I avoid over half of them because they're just not particularly fun to battle in and are too suited to sniping, boring, long range shooting. I read somewhere that Infinity Ward say none of the original maps would work with the new Perks and Kill Streaks. Having spent some time with the game I realise, as probably everyone does, that this simply isn't the case. Most of the old maps made for better, more intense battles than the new ones.

I'd really love to see is a true hardcore mode. A good old fashioned deathmatch without perks, radars, aircraft, etc, but with increased scope wobble to make moving and shooting a disadvantage, as it is in reality. Players geniunely pit their skills and tatics against each other, and where kills are by the players and not their killstreak rewards. It would be nice to have three variations of this game mode. One with all weapons. One without any explosive or rockets. And one without sniper rifles and shotguns. I think this would encourage people to move around more without the fear of death from an unseen enemy.

Although the game is an improvement over the original in most respects, multiplayer generally lacks the intense and exciting battles of past games. Just because a map looks good, doesn't meant it'll be particularly fun to play on. A couple of the maps are some of the worst I've experienced in all my years gaming.

I know this idea would never be allowed by Activision for the fear of lost revenue, but I'd love to see a map editor for console owners of the game. I personally believe between the few million of us who've bought the game we could create better maps than most of the ones in game. While the game wasn't great, FarCry had a map editor for console owners... what's your excuse? ...still feel the need to make more money out of us?

Finally, would it really have been difficult to allow the gamer to change the X and Y viewing speeds independently? Give gamers more choice and options to fully customise buttons and thumbsticks. Again, other games allow this (admittedly not enough).
Jensonjet on 3 Dec '09
Sort out akimbo shotguns - the number of times I've been headshotted from 40ft away by someone with those is ridiculous.

and something I noticed last night, even with cold-blooded and ninja on I still show up on some people's scanners and air support perks.

Also would like to see a map like shipment, simple and brutal - rust which is the closest is just too complex for mad silly games with friends.

If the update is a biggie maybe some more spec ops maps would be nice.
Jodmeister on 3 Dec '09
I for one enjoy mw2 better for the simple reason the maps have eradicated the annoying deaths from everyone throwing frag grenades blindly.
I stopped playing mw1 because I don't appreciate being killed in that manner it breaks a fundamental rule of gaming that you should die because you are outskilled by other players.FACT

Wha.....? It's been fixed.

I have no problem with trophies.

Spot on, Sir!

"Flow" is definately what's missing in this game. I did about 15 hours and then started with AC2 and haven't put MW2 back in the machine since.

I'll have another go with new maps (call me a sucker but, hey) but if I don't actually start to "enjoy" the game then, it's off for trade-in. Sad because this was my most anticipated game this year Sad

im fed up of alot of what people have stated already but to add a few, how slow it takes to get prone, how when you run for cover, you make it but die anyway(bullets going round corners) i know you've all been victim to it! respawns are atrocious! that stupid chopper gunner killing you when you respawn over and over again, the fact that guns seem to be less powerful at close range but yet more effective at longer distances...seriously wtf is that about?

I get meleed from like 5 yards away and get meleed when im shootin someone whos coming at me and it does not slow them down, putting over half a clip into someone and they put 3 rounds into you and you're dead yet they live! and theres countless others like the map thing, i play headquarters alot but im playing the same1's over and over again! tbh i don't why i payed for this game!
bunneyo on 3 Dec '09
remove the helicopter gunships.
What kind of game balancing is that? Someone goes on a kill streak and they are awarded with being able to cheap kill the other team even easier?
Stupid game design!
only_777 on 3 Dec '09
THe biggest problem is the rewards. This results in a slightly better team receiving a huge advantage with the gunships etc. Not many games are close because of this and after a few minutes the game is over and the aim is to try and improve challenges. The actual aim of winning ends too quick.
Stop the gun ships.
Also, someone else mentioned the shooting around corners. That always happens to me. AND I crept up on some one from behind and shot them in the head point blank, so they turned around and knifed me. HOW?!?!?!?!?!
stonyk on 3 Dec '09
Ok I love the double shotguns its a fact!!! There not over powered at all, there great for players who enjoy close quarter combat over the long range. I could say the sniper rifles are over powered but there not (they just p**s me off lol). I think they need a new grenade launcher, possibly able to fire you special grenades, like the one out of Terminator 2. Also like a lot of you, Iv noticed "ground war" sucks because of the LAG AND CONSTANT CHANGING OF HOST.
aggsandcheese on 3 Dec '09
How has no one mentioned the javelin glitch yet?! It's ridiculous and it's ruining so many of the games i play at the moment.
party smasher on 3 Dec '09
Re: grenade launchers - there's nothing noob about them. If you get caught at close range when armed with a grenade launcher you're pretty much screwed as they don't arm in time. They also take more skill that other weapons to aim.

Biggest problem for me is rubbish server system than mean having to find a new host every other game. Agree with the kill streaks too - if someone on your team gets the gunship it's game over. BF2 a much better multiplayer FPS.
battles_atlas on 3 Dec '09
Im not too fussed about campers, they just make sitting targets. Not too concerned about the killstreaks either (apart from when some pleb on my team follows me around when ive got cold blood on and gets me bombed). What really annoys me is when i empty a whole clip into someones head before they even clock me and with 2 shots into my foot they kill me,yet on the kill cam it says i didnt even fire 1 shot and makes you look like a clown. WTF that about!! Im sure im not alone on that.

But i do think when the games about a year old the kill streaks will be used more tactically than just firing them off at will, Anyway i thought the idea of war games was to outwit the opposition,so if you know where someones camping go and take them out. from what ive saw there is always more than 1 way to enter a room and he cant watch both entrances at the same time(unless sentry guns used). Or they are working as a team to complete the objective, which is kinda the whole point of the game.
moss66 on 3 Dec '09
So do you think they'll include dedi servers?

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Ohhh I kill me sometimes. I'm so glad I didn't buy this game now.

Oh and Jensonjet, welcome to the same world as us PC sufferers.
richm74 on 3 Dec '09
I pretty much agree with everything people have commented. The main reason though that people camp is the randomness of the game regarding spawning and some of the game dynamics are just off! In the first MW you could cleverly avoid the airstrikes and helicopters etc but in this they are much more severe and unrelenting and real I guess but you know it is a game and supposed to be fun..... Agree with the guys who have said you can be melee'd through brick walls and from about three to four feet away. The frustration from emptying a full clip into someone for them to op you twice in the head is just crap. The levels are just too free form and as such don't flow well and the game always feels stop start. I have been looking forward to this all year and well to be perfectly frank it is all just a little disappointing really. On the surface it looks superb but on closer examination it just doesn't work and the smaller nature of the maps on MW1 worked much better - and that's not nostalgia! I hope that the update fixes some of this as inside it is a great game just needs fixing. However then we have the joys the map packs where IW can play around and fleece the gamers for more cash.

That made me laugh out loud, you just know everyone has seen that sh!t, because you are so aggrieved you have to watch the killcam, which blatantly shows shenanigans of the highest order.

Spawn camping sucks. Akimbo shotguns need balancing, not removing. The one thing they can't fix is that the multiplayer just isn't as tight as CoD4. Too much in the way of game changing additions i.e. gunships, and the maps just aren't as well designed as CoD4's.

Hope they do fix a bunch of peoples grievances, it's a good game, but it falls short of greatness at the mo.

Stop putting UAVs and UAV jammers in care packages. Nothing sucks ass more than getting 3 kills, using your UAV, getting another kill, dropping a package and it's a bloody UAV, or a useless jammer which can be shot down in 4 seconds.

I saw a guy a few days ago use emergency air drop, he got 3 ammo boxes and a UAV jammer...
frankie4fingers on 3 Dec '09
Bt of a strange one this but slow the game down a bit, its to bl**dy fast, cod4 wasnt like it so why is this?

spot on sir.
tht curving bullet thing may just be due to latency and hits register later then they should or maybe the game is broken which wouldnt surprise me.

Good thing though is that I had the 1st enjoyable game for a long time, maybe even since release, but that was at 4 in the morning! felt like there were less campers or maybe I was just lucky.

@aggsandcheese: you're part of the problem man Mad
Sleepaphobic on 3 Dec '09
Right, I'll address the spawning. You get spawned near your allies as best as I can tell. However I've noticed in this COD and others that people don't really do teamwork. They either leg it round or sit in one spot. With loads of free agents you've got to spawn somewhere.

That's what I think is happening anyway....no one I play with really does tactics.

Also when a chopper comes in GET INSIDE!!!!

And also, shotguns have the killing range that shotguns actually have. Because of videogaming people seem to think that shotguns have a killing range of a couple of centimetres. Shotguns and in particular combat shotguns are pretty lethal at mid range too. The weakness in COD is that if you miss you have to pump another shot and your opponent has an opening.

That's the gamble you take, could be UAV, could be AC130. Don't use it then, as you get better at the game you shouldn't be relying on them anyway.

shotgun kill range is much longer than many people believe but in my earlier post I stated that it wasn't anywhere near uniform between the bunch.

If they were going to go the more realistic approach though then they would know that grenades have a kill radius greater than 2m which it appears to be in the game and I think half a clip of 5.56 rounds is a bit more lethal than a knife slash which even if it hit your carotid artery you'd have a few seconds to do smthg.

+how are 9mm rounds which are in most sub-machine guns more lethal than the 5.56 or 7.62? (that's what it feels like at least). 1 more thing I can think of off the top of my head is how a 50cal sniper round doesnt kill someone with one shot some of the times when in reality it would rip you in half and pierces metal as if it were paper. Btw I don't snipe that much but if I do it's pretty much always with a bolt action, which I must say is underpowered as well.

My point is if they are going to be realistic then it should be in every department and not just here or there.
Sleepaphobic on 3 Dec '09
i would like to see a mercernary CTF, domination and sabotage mode. Seems like every game i join now theres already other team members around and they always join the same group. Needlessly to say, their side always win.

A random mode will at least level the field slightly or give those people who don't have friends on MW2 a more equal fight.

In multiplayer no one talks. No one wants to make friends. It just seems a bit quiet as everyone goes about like a work horse working as a team in some way.

I stand corrected! I was round a friends playing Mw2 earlier and we both couldn't believe it when one of the other maps loaded! Looks like this is fixed.
