Banjo-Kazooie in Sega All-Stars Racing?

Box art exposes Rare duo, Sumo says "I'd not hold too much stock in that"
A work in progress box art for Sonic Sega All-Stars Racing seems to have outed Rare's Banjo and Kazooie as playable characters in the Xbox 360 version.

As you can see on this page, the prototype box art - which was pulled from a designer's website - clearly displays the Rare duo on the rear, which can't be a mistake... can it?

The image would also back up the leaked Sega memo from earlier this year which revealed that the company is up for incorporating "characters from Rare or Fable universes" via DLC. The leak also mentioned PS3-exclusive characters, but "not Ratchet & Clank".

Expectedly, when contacted Sumo Digital was quick to poo-poo the leaked pic:

"Banjo in a SEGA character racing game? Really?" quipped the developer's Steve Lycett, who claimed the company has not seen the box art. "Given we've not seen any box art, I'd not hold too much stock in that," he continued. "Where, for example, is the Sumo logo?"

Hardly proof, is it? You can accidently leave the Sumo logo off, but you can't accidently spend ten minutes Photoshop-ing in another company's characters. We expect this to happen.

Not that I don't believe the rumour could be true, but I'm not taking this as proof - mostly because the image in the middle if directly taken from the BK Nuts & Bolts promo stuff. Knocked up in PS, methinks.

Funny how they put "Sonic" in the title just before "Sega All-Stars" as if to try and make it sell more.
