FIFA 10 has sold more than 4.5 million units worldwide since launch, which is a 26 percent increase over the same period a year ago - eight weeks in Europe and five weeks in North America, to be exact.
EA also boasted that FIFA 10 has become the fastest-selling sports videogame in the world with 1.7 million sold in Europe in its first week after launch on October 1.
There's more to come though as the publisher readies FIFA 10 Ultimate Team for release next year.

"FIFA 10 Ultimate Team is a deeper, more authentic, more dynamic version of the game mode successfully introduced last year and enables fans to customise the way they build their Ultimate Team," says EA.
"Take on the challenge of building an Ultimate Team of the best football stars in the world, manage one or multiple squads simultaneously, and compete against other gamers in dynamically updated online tournaments. For the record number of football fans playing FIFA 10 online, FIFA 10 Ultimate Team provides a new challenge to put a personally crafted team up against the rest of the world," reads the release.
Ahhh! I see you have found yourself a new account name, Wiigodboy. Still as rabidly type-in-large-caps demented as ever though. One of the constants of the universe it would seem.
IIRC "Fifa 10" is my first football game on any console and I have been sucked in to the game. Well, until I started playing "Dragon Age" and now a heavy waiting line of new games awaits, but I will get back to it again at some point. Brilliant fun, IMO!
Gosh I remember playing Football Manager on the Speccy and Sensi Soccer on Amiga...how things have advanced (I'm showing my age here - oops!). Yeah, FIFA 10 is a blast and it seems EA have finally surpassed those genuis guys at Konami with their respected Pro Evo franchise. But a word in your ear EA, don't you dare release another FIFA (11) or whatever it may be as a full price game. You have had enough cash out of us consumers in the past, releasing slightly tweaked versions of this game, updating it every year and charging full bat! It's not right guys, and frankly I am satisfied enough with this version to perhaps never pay full price for another FIFA (I don't give a rat's bottom about extra textures/polygons blah blah)...just give us all a break and reduce the price of this franchise in the future...
