Try to contain yourself as you look at these first images of the European Final Fantasy XIII box art. Isn't it wicked?!
The long-awaited RPG will hit Japan in just a few weeks time, while Europe and North American versions have been dated for March 9, 2010, on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
All the FF games I can remember have a cutscene near the beginning, which then fades and just leaves the logo with a white background. So from my knowledge of the series yes tou are right.
Final Fantasy covers are supposed to be all white with just the logo on it aren't they?, just seems wrong having anything extra on it.
The PAL regions all have a plain white background with the logo in the foreground. The american ones differ. Just have a look at the FFXII American cover. I still gag: http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/bestselling-games-2006/2-1.jpg
The PS3 version looks slightly cooler though, with the black border.
I find the white-'n-green/grey combination of the Xbox 360 cover more striking. I strongly suspect I would still be of that opinion even if I owned a PS3 instead of an Xbox 360. I like the colour combination.
Also, I rather like the cover image of what one presumes is a major character in the game. I certainly prefer it to some ubiquitous symbol. Sadly (IMO,) it appears that the usual whirly-twirly random symbol/shape will grace the European covers of this game, at least if one is to believe the cover images on Amazon and ShopTo.
I think the PS3 box looked to be more "zoomed" in the 360 but both are good. I too admit that I prefered the old Playstaion 3 Logo to the new PS3 one. It looks like it was made by and intended for pre-schooler's Just my opinion though before anyone gets upset
Thats so elitist of you if you support Manchester Utd to put that you are a Utd fan. There are obviously many other football teams with Utd in there name

Sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound that way. I was just being a tad lazy.
I've found with time that it can be quite pleasant having a good looking pixel female form to look at when playing for hours on end. Still, there's certainly something to be said for a badass looking dude, which is why I like having the choice of deciding what gender the main character will be.
i dont like it...i prefer just the logo on a white background. it makes the logo so much smaller this way as well, which won't make it stand out as a 'final fantasy' title either. i think it's a bad idea =( jes like the leona lewis song in it. square enix are screwing up =(
Almost all FF games starting from PS1 have always had the logo and a white background - for the japanese and european versions that is.
I think breaking this cycle is just unholy. People don't need to see who's in the game. looking at just the logo just tells ppl of grandeur and top quality game. Reputation sells for itself u know.

Could care less about the cover. It's all about the game. Still undecided on what format to get it for. Multiple discs don't bother me, I prefer achievements over trophies, but it all depends on which runs best. Will PS3 have longer load times due to the Blu-ray drive or will 360 suffer due to being a port? Time will tell I guess...

One hand on a prawn sandwich?
Hang on, how can you smell my fingers from there...

It's been known to happen, true. Yet what of those newcomers that haven't played any FF games and for whatever reasons haven't done their background homework on it? Surely having a pic of a major in-game character on the cover along with the traditional FF symbol won't completely put off most dedicated FF fans, yet it just might entice the newcomers to pick it up and give it a whirl. Recruitment and expansion my friend; that is one of businesses favourite preoccupations.
I really don't like having a chick as the main controllable character...
I agree.
Not to sound too sexist here or anything...but I HATE that...
Even if you don't mean to sound sexist, doesn't change the fact that you obviously are
Bet you've probably refused to play games like Tomb Raider, and excellent games such as Beyond Good & Evil and Metroid due to that you sexist pig
i be still getting it on ps3 cause that were it belong
Actually it originally "belonged" to Nintendo so stuff that in your pipe and smoke it
Will PS3 have longer load times due to the Blu-ray drive or will 360 suffer due to being a port?
As far as I'm aware the only real difference is that the 360 version won't have the option of playing the game in Japanese with subtitles (which kinda sucks), though yeah PS3 will most likely suffer from longer loading times; unless you install like 12GB or so onto your HDD
This is just following the hideous American trend of putting a cg character on the cover. This type of box art generally doesn't work in Europe without some kind of background. Hopefully this box art won't make it to Europe. Or Square could announce a collector's edition with the proper cover.

Yup. I always prefer just the logo with the name when it comes to the Final Fantasy covers. The PAL release for XIII should be no different.
