Uplay launches with Assassin's Creed II

New in-game community feature debuts in beta form
Ubisoft's UPlay, an in-game community feature combining a store, social hub, media player and more, has debuted alongside the release of Assassin's Creed II.

Uplay is developed around four primary services: Uplay Win, Uplay Help, Uplay Share and Uplay Shop. The beta is only launching with Uplay Win, which enables players to collect units based on their in-game actions and exchange them for rewards such as exclusive content. These units can be gathered cross platform.

Uplay Help provides guidance and tips for Ubisoft games from the community and game developers, Uplay Share lets users "create content from within the games" and share it with friends and the community, "be it statistics, pictures, videos or even in-game content such as maps", while Uplay Shop can be used to purchase game content.

Players of Assassin's Creed II on PS3 and Xbox 360 can now use the in-game interface to connect directly to the Uplay beta. Further titles compatible with the service are expected to be announced in the near future.

Uplay Share, Uplay Shop and Uplay Help will also be accessible online.

To buy game content I'd rather use PS-Store or XBL-Marketplace and not have each different publisher having their own service.

The difference here is you're not paying for anything, you use the points you earn in gameplay to trade for rewards Smile
