The Official Nintendo Magazine has posted the first review of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex on Wii, giving it a positive 80/100 score.
"Amazingly it's almost exactly the same game, in structural terms at least, as the hi-def version," says the review, in praise of the game's fully retained campaign mode.
The review also compliments the game's fully-functional 10-player online mode with all the perks and ranking included, but says its visuals let it down. "Given the extra two years Treyarch had to squeeze every last drop of polish from the Wii, this is underwhelming visually. It looks okay for a Wii game - that's the dreaded caveat - but it's not even up there with Metroid Prime: Corruption."
Very few games 'do' look as good as Metroid Prime, in terms of art-design and imagination (and that includes stuff on high-spec consoles), but then again the freedom that franchise gives to use alien colours/textures/architecture helps. - The Wii's limitations are exposed when trying to ape photo-realism. It's just never going to happen.
It's just as well I'm buying this for the gameplay and customizable controls. Some things are more important than photo-realism.
ive had this game a couple of days now and i am finding it should be counted as the up their with the xbox360 and ps3 versions. multiplayer is just as good as when i had it on the 360,the pointer controls are streets ahead of duel analogue, everything is customizable from button mapping to dead zones, curzor+ camera sensitivity, graphics are pretty good(4wii) i deffo recommend trying it out if you have a wii!
I have COD:World at War on both Wii and PS3 but I am not exactly blown away by the graphics on the PS3. When I first tried it, I had to check I turned the right console on.
Ok - so the textures aren't great on the Wii version but the game experience - single player at least - was not much different.
I might just get this new COD on the Wii and then MW2 on the PS3.
I already have it on PS3, but those Wii pointer/aiming controls are enough of a draw for me to buy and play it again. - When done properly, with scope for customization, they absolutely trounce analogue stick control, in terms of aiming accuracy, accessibility and just plain fun and enjoyment.
i finished it over the weekend (ready for mw2) and still can't believe that treyarch have managed to do what infinity ward said was impossible: make this game work on the wii.
when i landed on crew expendable and the whole place lit up like it should due to the lightning flash i knew there and then that treyarch had gone WAY further than last years waw port.
a decent frame rate(again better than last years effort),sweet lighting, better textures, particle effects all over the shop and a silly amount of enemies on screen at once all make this a sweet package for wii owners.
the controls are excellent too, even managing to top the conduits set up. online is a joy to play as well.
now before anyone starts: i've clocked the game on veteran on pc and 360 and know exactly what's what with the 'big' versions of cod4.
this measures up,it really does.
oh yeah, rip it up,i've added you man. just a bit busy with mw2,i'll be back online soon.
yeah i totally agree caterlink. when im online with the pointer i feel invincible knowing i can turn on a sixpence and kill 3 dudes straight away this was impossible when i had the 360 version. feels like a new game to me just because of the bang on controls
ACTIVITION EXPOSED AS ANTI Wii AND playing mind games with pc crowd also....
activition are obsessed with first day numbers and chart positions and hype (MALSTROM TALKS ABOUT THIS)AND are clearly aiming to break records with cod MW2 by gimping the pc market version that gets more x360 and ps3 versions to sell resorting in bigger console numbers to brag
infantry and activition are hiding a very very good wii port of cod 4 on wii also again to keep attention on cod mw 2 x360 and ps3 in order to capture big hypible numbers
this is the 3rd party BIRDMEN mentality clearly at work and a deranged obsession with hyping numbers not facts...
by gimping wii they get more kudos from sony fanboy and micrsoft fanboy
by gimping pc they again get more (blind) kudos from sony fan and micrsoft fan
they hype it all up and be anti nintendo and anti wii at the same time IN ORDER TO FEED THE ADDICT (THE SO CALLED CORE GAMER) WITH HIS EGO BOOST
ALL VERY CLEVER ACTIVITION TO THOSE WHO ARE IDIOTS (NOT ME OR MALSTROM)
to creat another mini HARDCORE GAMER MYTH around cod mw2
to maintain the fake HARDCORE INDUSTRY CREATED BULL s**t
bu gimping away the wii version of cod 4 they can then JUSTIFY wii as not for core games and not include it in the future
3rd partys actually think they have the power WILST NINTENDO DISRUPTS AND TAKES THERE MARKET FROM UNDER THEM AS WE TYPE THIS IS HAPPENING
AND ANY SANE PERSON ALSO UNDERSTANDS NEW SUPER MARIO Wii SHALL OUT SELL ALL VERSIONS OF COD mw2 COMBINED IN THE LONG RUN
ACTIVITION LITTLE SECRET COD IS A FAD
NINTENDO AND MARIO ARE FOR EVER
how about a discussion on this blog about ARE CONSPIRASY SPECULATION OF THE 3RD PARTYS
WE ALL KNOW ITS HAPPENING AND WE ALL KNOW ACTIVITION GOT FOUND OUT DOING IT

Apparently the pointer controls don't track properly, and the frame-rate is bad. Good job I bought MW2 for my 360 instead.
have you been reading bozos review on ign by any chance? i'd disagree wholeheartedly.
the controls are fine and the frame rate is good enough in single player and spot in multiplayer.
this is coming from someone who is jumping from mw2 on pc back to mw on wii but hasn't succumbed to the hype and been blinded to the merits of other games on other formats.
the pointer controls can be a little hit or miss. Just like they were in WAW. But they're still way better than stick control.
The fact that they managed to retain the atmosphere of the original is the most impressive feat i think.
It's proof that wii ports of 360/ps3 games can be done well.
be interesting to see if the wii gets a port of MW2 in a couple years. or whether the next COD will use either natal or the ps3s motion control come to think of it.
How are the controls? I've never played the game so could be tempted as I can use my mum's Wii
The default controls arent very responsive but something i think most developers have realised they can do with the Wii is allow for customization even the buttons can be moved about to fit just how you want to play. So yeah the controls are great.
