Natal for Xbox 360 is reportedly set to launch worldwide in November 2010.
According to details leaked from a Microsoft tour, the platform holder plans to sell its motion sensing camera for under £50 as it looks to target the non videogame playing market.

The company will manufacture five million units for the product's release and 14 launch titles will be available, reports MCV.
First announced at E3 in July, the Natal sensor tracks body movement in 3D using an RGB camera, depth sensor, microphone and custom processor.
At the Tokyo Game Show in September, Microsoft said that "publishers actively working on games for Project Natal" include Activision Blizzard, Bethesda, Capcom, Disney Interactive, Electronic Arts, Konami, MTV Games, Namco Bandai, Sega, Square Enix, THQ and Ubisoft.
Sony is expected to launch its new motion sensing controller for PS3 in spring 2010.
Sounds like a fairly reasonable price. Whether the casual market 'jump in' or not, remains to be seen. I suppose it depends on the software. I expect the usual Wii-style stuff to be prominent at launch, with fitness or cookery type gamey things.

Place your bets. I'm going to say "Greg Wallace Teaches Spikey-Haired, Teenage He-Shes How To Make Cakes" from Square Enix and "Zombie Pilates" from Capcom.
As long as they don't suddenly forget the 27 million who have bought an xbox for non casual games, I am happy. I am curious to see how they implement Natal with the current joypad, too.
Should be exciting though, and £50 may even be cheaper than Sony's wand, as Natal will not need Bluetooth. Well, that's my guess.

If they release a 'Night at the museum monkey-face slapping game', then I'm all over it.
Making it cost less than £50 does make me worry that it isn't going to be as good as they make out, but if it is, then that's a bargain.
With a price that low, it's feeling like Eyetoy territory rather than something genuinely amazing.
We'll have to see what the games are like.
It's all about the software in this instance though. If MS get loads of units in the homes of their consumer base, then the more chance they'll get of making the money back through the software.
Very nice price. Im still concerned though that it wont offer too much more than what Eye Toy has already delivered.
I think we need buttons for some games and hope MS don't reach the limit Sony reached with Eye Toy (not forgetting that Eye Toy sold around 11 million units and was very successful itself).
In any regards, 50 schmackers isnt overpriced and would definately be worth investing in
I'll believe it when I see it. If the WiFi adapter costs £60, how can this be £10 less? It can't be that good if it is. All M$ accessories are overpriced and are hardly any good, so having this at £50 doesn't seem realistic...
Maybe it'll be some 'crap' version with the better one being released with the next XBox?

Because they'll continue to make money from Natal through software.
Microsoft are probably expecting to take a loss on it initially, and recoup the cash through software. There is no way they would release something which doesn't work properly or do what it has said it would or no one will buy it. They have touted this as the next big step in gaming, so they cannot afford to mess it up. keeping it at a £50 price point is accessable for eveyone, and you are more likely to buy it if you are on the fence.
I will ultimnately reserve judgement until I have seen some games which make me say 'I want one'.
that guy who said the 360's lineup is going to look rough :s well i think the ps3's line up looks ruff compared to halo reach, fable 3, crackdown 2, splinter cell conviction and hopefully a new gears game amonst others

Not quite sure what generation you have been living in but Microsoft have done nothing other than release things that don't work properly. Still you can be assured that there are alot of numpties out there that will buy something that microsoft described as the future of gaming for a mere £50 and proclaim it to be the greatest thing ever simply because they are told it is so unfortunately.

Whilst I agree Monty was wrong with that statement, same goes for you as well. The first Xbox was solid and I haven't experienced a single crash with Windows 7 yet.

I said this generation, i loved the original xbox.
Whilst Windows 7 is great you can't deny it has taken alot of mistakes to get it up to this level so was just highlighting not to believe the hype and certainly not to even contemplate the fact that Microsoft would not release a shoddy product proclaiming it to be the future. It's recent history has proved quite the opposite and seems to be tolerated and even applauded which i find amazing.
sony are just as bad for it adam *coff* ylod *coff*
Would love to know where i mentioned Sony, lol, jez im not a fan boy, far from it. I think they are all as bad as eachother.I buy a product i expect it to last and do what i was told it can do! Sony were just as bad telling us that only it could do certain games that the 360 couldn't and was streets ahead, we all know that is far from the truth.

my mistake adam i assumed you were a sony fanboy lol and altitude i know i regretted that post but im bored on my day off of contstant studying and cudnt be assed with people saying sony have a good lineup thats better than 360's

I think you are kind of missing what I mean. I am not for a second suggesting that the 360 hardware is faultless or works amazingly. Far from it in fact, as my 360 has broken down with the RROD. At the end of the day, it still has a larger install base than the PS3 as it is a very good console and has many brilliant games on it. RROD aside, it works fine. The controlls are responsive, the dashboard is quick and easy to use and Live is excellent. I mean that they have to get the fuctionality of Natal right from the word go. They won't release something which is unresponsive or misses out half of the movements you make or it will die on its back.
Under £50 makes a lot of sense. If you want to grab that Wii market they are not going to spend £200 on a xbox and then £90 on a camera, not when PS3 is already £250 in a lot of places.
Perhaps MS is going to sell the hardware at a loss and gain the money back on software sales (just like Sony have done with PS1/PS2/PS3). Makes sense to me, although I doubt I would buy natal even if I wasn't selling my 360, but if it was around £50 with a game, and it was a good game I might of got it then.

Huh?
If MS are trying to grab the Wii market, what would the price of the PS3 have to do with it?

Sony have that wand thing coming out for the casual market. Plus if people are thinking about buying a games machine then the PS3 is an option, and from a casual point of view - its an option that plays Blu-Ray films too. Perhaps thats why they have been selling like hot cakes since the slim came out.

I don't think either Sony or MS stand a chance of creeping up on Nintendo with either Natal or the wand, to be honest.
The thing that Nintendo have regained is the brand - all the people that wouldn't usually consider a console, or don't know an awful lot about gaming, recognise the Wii as a brand now. It's the same thing that Sony had with the PS1 and the PS2 and it'll see Nintendo through this gen.
I just think that the average man or woman will link motion cotrol with Wii - Ninty were in there first and have basically claimed the market as their own.

I agree, I think both Micrcosoft and Sony would be wise to stick to their route of joypad controlled games aimed at the 16-35 male market.
Nintendo have the whole casual market all to themselves and there is nothing Sony or MS can do to stop that now, the Wii has sold far too many units to be stopped now.
