Pro Evolution hits States as team "takes break"

Winning Eleven 6 - or Pro Evolution Soccer to you lot - is to be released in America as first details of next edition emerge
Konami is to release Pro Evolution Soccer in America next March, only the second soccer game from the company to reach the continent, the first being Konami Honolulu's MLS 2002.

The PlayStation 2 exclusive took Europe by storm last year - and this year's sequel looks to be doing even better - so the news will come as a huge relief to increasing hordes of footy fans in the States.

"Soccer fans around the world have declared Winning Eleven as their favorite soccer game. Now, North American soccer fans have a chance to see what they've been missing," said Robert Goff, product manager at Konami America.

The news marks the beginning of a very well earned holiday for Konami's Tokyo team, who are now to take a six week break before researching the next game in the series.

Konami is planning to release Winning Eleven 7 next August, looking for a European release before the end of 2003. Looks like our American cousins might get a more timely look in this time, too.
