Looks as awesome as ever. The interiors look fantastic.
It makes playing Forza 3, whilst being a very playable game, an underwhelming experience. The cars look plasticy, the physics are silly at times, the replays don't have the wow-factor, the career mode is tedious and the initial tracks seem very tight on overtaking manoeuvres - and don't even get me started on the fish-tail loving AI.
And even after installing the full game to my HD, it still takes ages to load.
Even after all those flaws, it is still a good game, but not as good as Turn 10 reckon...

with Forza we are always being told about the new tech that improves handling and gameplay, and this was always pushed by the developer.
Gt5 just gives us more and more pretty pictures, style over substance maybe, all i do know is i'm playing the 3rd installment of forza now.
The problem is that most people are whores and buckle at the knees for pretty pictures. Forza is clearly not up to speed with GT graphically, so maybe they decided to promote Forza's brains over its beauty.
I suppose it depends what you want from your games. I don't spend my time looking at the cars around me other than to make sure I don't hit them, so their exact polycount is irrelevant. If I wanted to spend my time watching cars I'm not in control of running round tracks I'd put on Top Gear.
I'll admit that GT5 is definitely prettier when it comes to screenshots, but I'd like to hear exactly what Polyphony has done to improve AI, lessen rubber-banding, enhance the single- and multiplayer experiences and keep people coming back rather than just more and more pretty pictures. Yes, their engine is gorgeous, kudos. But I've seen dozens of shots of every car they've pimped on pretty much any car-related website.

Funny that. I found Forza 3 to be the most accessable and Fun driving Game ive ever played on any system.
You better hope that GT5 is as perfect as you hope its going to be. If not, then what?

agreed i didnt find forza 3 all that the way turn 10 kept talkin about the "definitive racer" far from it imo, lookin forward to GT5 more will be proper racing game for me, other than that forza 3 is ok

He'll threaten to leave the website. Again
Still, the amount of time and money pumped into GT5 means it'll be a great game even if it isn't everybody's cup of tea,

I have no doubt GT5 will be a great Game, but if it doesnt beat Forza in all aspects (apart obviously from customisation) then has it really been worth waiting all this time?

I'm not expecting GT5 to be perfect - and PD are not claiming it to be, so I'm not sure of your point.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Forza 3 despite what I said, it really does have some redeeming qualities such as the fun handling and the sometimes pretty backdrops (especially the Amalfi coast).
I think it just lacks something special. There is no urgency to the game - everything is so laid back. For instance, when GT loads a game it plays some pumping music to get you in the mood for the race. Forza 3 just seems content in letting you meander through the career without impressing on you the anticipation of an upcoming race.
Also, the menu's seem far too clinical for a game about passion for cars. Again, GT shows your current car in all its glory, against a lovely backdrop on the main screen. Forza just flips automatically to the next calender date.
But like I said, I am happy to have Forza 3 until GT5 comes around next year.

How much have you played, beyond the demo?
I have the full game (as Dajmin will know) and have just got to championship no.4 (8 weeks?), so not very far. It doesn't have that one more go quality that I was hoping for. Also, it is competing with Fifa 10 and Uncharted 2 for my limited gaming time.
When you think of all the accusations of Turn10 being unrepresentative of the final game in their screenshots, then look at what people are producing with the full game:-
(have a scan over this thread) http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/9/3085763/ShowThread.aspx
It seems to me rather lucky that the Turn 10 guys aren't particularly good photographers. Some of the shots on that thread are right up there with the GT5 shots released so far.

Nah not you. I trust you have played it, even though I disagree. I haven't been able to play it much, but when I have I've either had to leave later for work than I'd like or go to bed later than I'd plan.

It really is just different strokes for different folks. A lot of what you say you dont like, I do. I like that everything is laid back, gives me time to .. err .. roll some cups of tea in between races and what not and not having my car in front of me when loading dfrom race to race is really isignificant in my enjoyment of the actual Game (you know the racing part)
No doubt GT5 will be the prettier but will it be more Fun (for me anyway)? I suppose we'll find out next year.

What surprised me about Forza is the fun factor, it definitely has the "one more" feel for me. The sense of speed combined with the c**kpit view and the way the cars react to the different surfaces is excellent.
I love the way the career mode progresses, plus you can just use the Event Select option, which is pretty much like Forza 2's mode. Definitely worth the praise it's received.

Ah, I see. A toker, eh? Then I'd imagine that Forza 3 is indeed the perfect racing game for you. Hell, many years ago, me and a good mate would toot for England - and to be honest we didn't honestly care what games we played! They were all good..
Mind you, I played Mario 64 under the influence. I'll never forget that.
So as not to make this page 3 meters long I wont quote you there Black Mantis but I agree with everythig you said. FM3 is mos def a one more race Game, for me anyway. And i said before it is deffo a Fun Fun Racer, a lot more than I expected.

Ive certaily been doing a lot of drifting .
Dont even get me started on the customisation in Forza! I must have spent about an hour on 1 design the other night. And no, it wasnt a funny shaped leaf

Too often people forget that gaming is meant to be a fun activity. I'm glad a tiny amount of the PGR spirit lives on in Forza 3.
My god, I can't imagine what horrors I would have created on LBP back then...
As for Forza 3 customizations, I would love a Sackboy car, but I am totally useless with the tools.
I think it took me 20 minutes to create 3 boxes of varying sizes!
I'll give it a go at some point. Off work with the wife and kids all week, so plenty to be getting busy with. Next week, though, when I have my mornings back to being mine, painting cars will probably be a big part of my free time.
