This is the award every publisher wants to win, the Ultimate Game The Year award. If you pick this one up, you've made a really good game. In the nominations were giants such as Fallout 3, Call of Duty World at War, Left 4 Dead, Grand Theft Auto, IV and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. See - them's some big guns.
But there can be only one. And the golden gong went to... Fallout 3 and Bethesda.

Congratulations Bethesda. A lovingly crafted rendition of the "Fallout" universe with painstaking attention to it's lore and details - no mean feat in and of itself. Personally I found the game initially intriguing, yet as time went by it became increasingly dull with the occassional highlight.
I look forward to (or rather, I hope it's in the works,) "Elder Scrolls 5".
well deserved in my mind, definately my favourite game of this year. the first one that actually had a proper moral dilema in it too. Fair enough it wasn't untill the dlc came out but still. the pit was definately the best moral poser in a game. ever.
There should be a clear distinction between the main game vs. the main game with DLC content, IMO. Otherwise it distorts the premises involved. I personally have not purchased "FO3" DLC and I have no intention of doing such. Perhaps if I did I might find my current "final verdict" on "FO3" changed, which is the whole point.
Fair result, I suppose, seeing as PC, PS3 and 360 owners have been able to enjoy it in unison.
I thought it was decent at times, with plenty of scope for adventuring. However, I do prefer the Elder Scrolls games as they tend to have more variety in the environments. And more Unicorns.
Still, well done Bethesda. And at least it wasn't Call of Bloody Duty...
Congrats Bethesda! Even though I have gotten tired of the game (esp the colour palette), this is the game (alongside gtaIV+dlc's) that have stolen most hours from me this year. Many many hours. Really liked the attention to details in the stuff you could find.
I presume you've decided to grace me with your unique brand of charm yet again, Ted. Since we have already established your level of wit in another thread, allow me to point out that there is a difference between being a "cheap skate" and not being interested in a game's DLC. The distinction may seem revolutionary to one of your ilk, but rest assured it is not unheard of.
Excellent result, I always said when posting about this that it was GOTY material IMO. Grats Bethesda and all involved in making it.
I too have not purchased any of the DLC/extra content as it does come in disc form too I believe. Was waiting/hoping they all got realeased on one disc but as good as the game is I do not want to buy it again in it's GOTY edition.

Could you be any more up yer own bottom? or sound any camper? "ilk" and using a coma just before you print someones name makes you sound like a crap Bond villain. Oh, and the little laughing face thingy doesn't go with sarcasm, you might want to try a instead.

Is that the waahambulance I hear? It's quite simple, Ted: If you can't handle a fight then don't start one. Rudimentary logic that even you should be able to grasp. Now kindly go stick it, you daft Neanderthal.
I dont think game of the year awards should go out to multi platform releases. Maybe a little harsh but there you go. votes can tip either way towards fifa or cod because of franchise power but the actual exclusives for either console is where the real war is won or lost.
