Activision's just sent out the launch details for Modern Warfare 2 and it's not holding back. here's the full blast:
On November 9th 2009, Modern Warfare 2 will invade the capital with a unique game launch event and screening. In a world's first, the most highly-anticipated game of all time will be hosting its launch event in Leicester Square, home of the 'Hollywood Premiere'.

The screening will be compered by a celebrity fan of the game and give journalists, celebs and fans of the critically-acclaimed Modern Warfare series a chance to see this year's biggest game on the big screen ahead of its global launch on Tuesday 10th November.
The event will also be supported by an epic midnight opening at HMV's flagship Trocadero Store, along with a VIP launch party in a secret underground bunker, headlined by one of the UK's biggest male artists of 2009.
Yawn! I'm still not paying 50 odd quid for it. I'll wait until I can get it cheap second hand. There's plenty of over stuff coming out in the mean time.
Is Damien Hirst the big British artist that'll be there? Maybe he'll show of his latest work... a DVD cut in half! A DVD box encased in s**t! I'd carry on, but I don't his con.. sorry, artist skills and imagination!
By the way, everyone who claims they're not buying Modern Warfare 2... will.
People that are geniunely not buying it don't feel the need to announce it. Or maybe I should let everyone know that I'm not buying a new kettle, double glazing, a shirt, a Ford, a Ferrari, a Volvo, a book on gardening, a book on birds, a cooking book, a pair of trainers, stereo speakers, a tree, a radiator, a telephone, a cupboard... actually can I leave it at that.. it's too much like hard work to tell everyone what I'm not buying. Plus I'm pretty sure no one cares anyway!
Just got our new list in for Nov (Tesco) and this is gonna be priced at Ł30 for the 1st weekend of release, no doubt ASDA & Morrisons will do the same.
just cancelled my preorder. I figured I might as well wait until I've finished Uncharted 2 (got it today), still got Arkham Asylum and Infamous to finish first so I think MW2 will be a new year game for me
People keep saying that they won't buy this game because of the high RRP but truth is everyone will buy it either on release or within a month of it being out.
I've had years of enjoyment from CoD4 and don't doubt that this one will do the same for me. Other games players don't even care about Ł5 so this will sell s**tloads on release.
Whoever holds out for the price to drop is going to have a long wait to play this unless some retailers drop the price for an intro week like FIFA did

And your evidence for that is???? i certainly wont be giving them any of my money until the whole issue of dedicated servers is sorted out. For all you console jockeys who seem to think that this issue is one affecting the pc brigade (yes I play 360 too XBL-Badvok) then you are naieve in extremis. Beleive me when I say that we are fighting for nothing less than the soul of online gaming. when you are all charged increasing ammounts for games and dlc as the years progress you will look back and say "damn!" simply burying your heads in the sand and taking things as they are presented to you without so much as a whimper will inevitably see a watering down of games quality on ALL platforms.
Yawn...This is getting so old all you peeps moaning you wont be buying the game because it is an extra Ł5 seriously get over it and for all you p.c people Im guesing your the ones that download the games of the torrent sites for free and p**sed that you wont be able to play ranked games oh well guess there will be alot LAN parties lol, but seriously if IW can prevent people from playing online illegally and stop people from hacking ect then I'm all for it. IW's match making system is second to none and almost as good as Bungies Halo matching making system, so cut the crap if your not going to buy this game we dont wanna hear it because its becoming old now. p.s and for the people waiting for a price drop... it just aint gonna happen!

FFS will you read the issue, it's nothing to do with money (I earn mine so can afford it!) I also pay for all my games so you can stick that up your bottom whilst we are on the subject. IW WILL NOT prevent pirates, it might prevent hacking but if you think VAC is your saviour then you are deluded, Matchmaking is great for 8 v 8 but if you want to play restricive games like that then be my guest. Some of us see the grander issue here this is but the first attempted step in a tighter control of what you are playing and how you are playing it, by taking away the freedom of choice they FORCE you to buy their products and addons and any other crap THEY deem YOU need to play the game. cod 4 is still going strong as the mods, maps and online community added to its longevity, without that you will see an ever increasing stream of tired and inferior games offering less and less content, more and more often and for more and more cost. If your ok with that then I suggest you start earnig more money now.
OK seriously u guys need 2 shut the F*** up with your "no dedicated servers" and i dont wanna pay the extra $10 for a game. If you cant caugh up "ten dollars extra" then why do u have a PC (computers demand nothing but $$$)? And honestly, if u cant play w/o dedicated servers then u suck at call of duty, "oh no, i cant tweek the rules to where i know the rules and edit them myself to my s**tty skill level". And dont even get me started on all the mods and server hacks pcs have, this is exactly why IW made this unavailiable, for the regular players that have a hard time finding matches and struggle with the cheaters and server banning! u guys no more than NE1 else ur going 2 be @ GS on 11-9-09, 11:59 drooling. be happy with what the gave u, they did it 4 the better!

Ok since you seem too inept to understand the issue I will explain, taking your points into consideration.
I am happy to pay more for the game, it's most likely going to be uber, but if the last one is anything to go by it's going to last 4-6 hours. still worth Ł40-50 now? if we say its a movie would you pay Ł30 to go watcha 2-3 hour long movie?? Since there are no dedicated servers playing online will be half the fun it is on cod 4,
Can't play without dedicated servers?? why my boy, of course we can we just prefer to play with more people than little 8v8 games. Especially when the 8v8 game is hosted by someone who might be on the other side of the country. A favourites list (sorry you wont know what that is being on xbl) is like having a local, you find a nice server with good players and a lag free environment and no cheaters, you fave it and go back again, IW.net does not support that function so the community feeling is gone.
Set servers to my s**tty skill level?? poor deluded boy players dont set skill levels, skill levels are dictated by players abilities, i have been owned by players 10 levels below me on cod 4 because they are better players than I and vice versa. It's called learning to play the game and getting better we need no servers to make things easier for us, we prefer to better our selves.

Bans happen generally because players get out of line, yes I have been banned by nazi admins (as u put them) before firing a shot, but hey you know what I do?? I find another server, they pay for it after all not I. it's not right nor is it clever but then I have been ditched mid game on XBL (shock i DO play)because the person who started the game was loosing and like a whiney smacktard quit and cried to mommy ratherthan persevere and become a better player.
