A Mario game that lets you create your own levels - rather like Sony's LittleBigPlanet - could become a reality after Miyamoto spoke of his interest in user-created content and level creation.
"This is an area that I have a lot of interest in, and I think that the side-scrolling Mario games in particular are well suited to that idea," said Miyamoto.

"Of course the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series is one that's made in North America by NST, but it's one that I've been involved in and from early on. We did have a lot of discussions about how to enable that kind of level creation in that series.
"And I think those types of interactive experiences are going to continue to broaden and we'll see a lot more user-generated content going forward. I've always had an interest in those kinds of creative tools, so I will definitely be open to ideas like that in the future," he told Joystiq.
If a proper Mario game did have this feature though, I'd definately be tempted. In fact, lets go 3D, I've love a stab at something inspired by those bomb meadows from Mario 64 (ya listening Little Big Planet 2? 3D editors please).
I would be up for a level editor/created for mario, it would be an awesome feature. I think both 2D/3D would be good, i guess 2D is easier for people to work with though. You could do some level editing with Mario 64 using the Toadstool editor on the PC but it was bloody complicated lol!
I'm surprised they haven't come up with that idea already, I imagine something like NSMB Wii would be the perfect place to start, with the co-op and all, then it would just online play after that.
