Nintendo has another Mario game

Voice of Mario spills the beans via Twitter
Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario, Wario, Luigi, Waluigi, Baby Luigi and Baby Mario for Nintendo has Tweeted word that there's a new Mario game in development.

We've contacted Nintendo because that's what we've got to do. But we don't really expect them to turn around and hand it over on a plate along with screens. In a nutshell Martinet said, "Awesome new Mario Game! And it's not NSMB Wii, and it's not Galaxy 2, but it's going to be crazy fun!"

Update: Nintendo is unsurprisingly cagey over the statement, telling CVG today: "No official announcement has been made by Nintendo."

Right then. Here's your Monday morning guessing game. What's Martinet talking about?

Motion-controlled Mariogolf Wii, got to be, they won't let Tiger take all of the golf sales, and given that they could cannabalise Wii Sports Resort golf for most of the code, it would be a quick and easy buck.

Get excited all you like, this is going to be something like Mario Party 9 or Super Mario Superbowl.

Maybe it'll be something like "Mario Sports Island" where you get to play Mario Golf, Tennis, Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, etc...

Or maybe it's a crossover title with Mario & Donkey Kong working together to overthrow King K. Rool and Bowser, jumping your way through various enemies & levels from each series, in what is best described as the true spiritual successor to both Donkey Kong 64 & Mario 64!

or maybe it is just Mario Party 9 as someone else stated! Rolling Eyes

mario golf is highly likely. We've already had all the other Mario sports games on wii already.

Then again it could be another paper mario.(i wish)

Maybe it has something to do with what Miyamoto said in another article about a Level building game (similar to LBP) but as was said its probably something more obvious like Mario Party/golf/Tennis etc which is fine but something new and completely surprising would be good too. What about a Mario & Luigi game in the style of Odd world Munches odyssey on the Xbox (the co-op play between the two would work very well, bringing the bros back to gather and allow co-op play for two people on & off line). It would also give Luigi a starring role for the first time since Luigi's mansion too.

It's alwatys struck me that a Nintedo take on the deathmatch experience couild be amazing but obviously violence an dNintendo is a weird combo so why not - Super Mario Paintball!

It could be amazing

Personally, I have had enough of Mario for the time being. I am not really too fussed about Mario Galaxy 2 tbh. I'll still get it though. Smile

I'm hoping for a true Mario 64 successor rather than all this Galaxy crap. But I doubt that will happen Sad

No Nintendo fan really cares any more. They haven't made a good Nintendo game since the Gamecube and they were rare. Satoru Iwata ruined everything, bring back Hiroshi Yamauchi!

What a meserbale set of gamers we have,it seems to me that u lot have been taken over by the darkside, namely grey/brown souless shooters,so when u go back to bright coloured screens it hurts ur eyes.how many times have u been expecting mario games to be rubbish or not wanting them to be good, many times it rarely happens, and do u think a MR miyamoto would let his project be rubbish.whateva the game it will be good.and as for mario party games i have enjoyed them coz i can not get snobbish about a bit of fun party time.

12 months ago... people complain there aren't enough games like Mario Galaxy.

Present... There's too many Mario games.

They can't really win with thinking like that.
milky_joe on 19 Oct '09
Well I'm more than happy for more Mario games, I could have a new one everyone month lol! I just wonder if the same people moaning about this are complaining about the 4 Halo games the 360 is getting since launch. (again I like Halo so it doesn't bother me either) or is it just an excuse to moan about Nintendo again?
Osiris25 on 19 Oct '09
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let it be the new Pilotwings, but with all the Mario characters.
