F1 2009 on the Wii is an absolutely authentic recreation of the 2009 FIA Formula One World Championship that is accessible for the entire family

uh oh........

Accessible to the whole family does not necessarily mean they have made it rubbish. I remember a time where practically all games were accessible to the whole family and they were some of the best games ever made!

However I share your cynicism when they feel the need to mention accessibility. I suppose it should just be that way by design.

I love F1. I love racing games.

But I think its kinda clear that a proper realistic F1 game wouldnt be much fun. You need to tweek it a bit to make a fun game.

The same way actual war isnt as fun as Modern Warfare.

I just hope the X360/PS3 version is worth the wait.

I bet ING wont be happy with the sponsors still on the Renault car.

lol, brilliant. It's actually a pretty sound argument against games that venture into true realism. Realism is sometimes not fun.

I love games that are unrealistic and fantasy based etc as they provide an escape from the real world rather than plunging in even further. Unfortunately with most simulator games you get all the boring and bad bits of reality with out the sense of danger that makes the experience fun and exhilarating in the first place. I do like some realism but in small doses.

And yet still no news on 2010.

Codemasters aren't going to say anything about 2010 until the Wii/PSP versions are out the door.

Bigging up the 2010 version would certainly hurt sales of this game as people would just say "I'd rather wait for the "proper" version"

So this game is going to be out of date before it is even released?! The season finishes on November 1st Laughing! That is like Fifa 10 coming out this time next year Laughing.

Did the same thing happen with the Ashes game? It apeared at the end or at least the bottom end of the series?

I guess you could try to emulate the winner of this years when you start playing it.. knowing who will actually have won it by then. Smile

We're all saying that now anyway, regardless of them keeping 2010 quiet!

Sumo digital are making this version Codemasters are just publishing it as Codemasters racing studio have just finished Dirt 2 they have probably just finished pre-production as it was only a couple of months ago they were asking for ideas on their forums.

As for it being out of date by the time this one comes out I don't think there has ever been a F1 game that was out the same season.
