Amazon begin selling PSN codes

200 PSN games and other content now available via Amazon
Sony US has joined forces with Amazon to give PS3 owners the option to purchase digital codes from the online retailer. You'd probably use this to gift your mates content rather go to the hassle of buying off Amazon, only to have to enter the redemption code to get your game.

"We are excited to expand our current library of video game platform downloads," said Paul Ryder, VP of consumer electronics for Amazon. "PlayStation Network games are an important addition and we plan to continue making it easier for customers to instantly enjoy new content as well as their favourite games from the comfort of their living rooms."

360 Arcade games have been available to download via Amazon for some time now in the US. But there's never been any word on when futuristic features like this might happen in Europe.

Makes sense. They could do this with PSP GO as well. This way retailers make a bit of cash per game sold and Sony wins back the support of retailers. The codes are one of linked to the IP per gadget. If some customers don't have internet or slow at home, why not offer a in-shop wi-di so customers can download the game. Maybe 50p for use? This helps gaming industry move forward to less packaging, therefore less on delivery and weight costs. And shops could simply have game sleeves on display and customer picks up a buy slip and purchases the card. Why not go further and integrate a system like lotto or mobile voucher card systems where the code is imprinted on the receipt?

Good to know, but I hope they include this for Europe in the next few months. What I'm more interested in, though, is the PSN Vouchers. I want them to release £10 and £20 vouchers for the PSN, if they're not already available, instead of larger sums of cash. I think the 20 quid version already exists.
