Witcher 2 dev bought out

Polish company acquires CD Projekt, says report
CD Projekt, developer of The Witcher 2, has been acquired by ailing Polish computer company Optimus S.A., claims a report.

UPDATE: CD Projekt has said to expect a statement later today.

According to an analyst quoted by Polugamia.pl, the previously privately-held Witcher house has had the majority of its stock snapped up by Optimus, along with CD Projekt Red which developed the first Witcher.

According to the report, CD Projekt has been in buyout talks for months, but negotiations temporarily broke down earlier in the year. Everything's rosy now though, it seems.

The site claims an official announcement will be made soon. Don't forget to check out the first Witcher 2 video (or just watch it above).

Well... as long as the Witcher 2 is released in the end, and hopefully the white wolf too, then all is good.

Does this mean there is a chance that the original Witcher port to Xbox 360 could be resurrected? Damn hope so.

Would be nice if they could increase development speed and not lose the quality of the original game. Because the original Watcher is bloody good - I'm in the middle of it now. So much to do and I'm only just into the second or third act. Great bit of storytelling.

Would like to see console versions too, because maybe then I could see what it's like running above lowest detail settings Smile
