Splinter Cell: Conviction - new movie

Long-coming sequel dated (again)
Splinter Cell: Conviction has been given a new release date of 'February 2010' we can confirm.

UPDATE: Ubisoft's confirmed the US date, February 23, 2010.

The date - being announced in Ubisoft's Tokyo Game Show events - is proudly displayed at the end of the new TGS demo, which you can read all about in our hands-on Splinter Cell Conviction preview.

The 360 and PC exclusive slipped to early next year as part of Ubisoft's delay-ageddon, with CEO Yves Guillemot putting it down to "a question of polish".

"The team was asking that they couldn't be with the level of quality on all the maps and all the game for the end of the year, so they had asked for more time to be able to come with a better product," he said in his best English.

For the record, it's looking excellent.

Great news - and I am glad that the developers were given enough time to make sure the game is as good as can be.

I just hope it doesn't clash too much with Alan Wake. You wait ages for a decent action game - and then two come along at once! Surprised

I'm interested in this one because it's changing the rules of the usual Splinter Cell game. I like the idea of having to use the environment rather than having just the right piece of tech available for the situation you're in.

I just hope that after this kind of delay it's not a failure.

Why is this piece of news listed in the PS3 section?

Anyway, looking forward to this one. I think this could be the Xbox's GOTY for 2010.
