Microsoft is offering US-based Xbox 360 Elite buyers a $50 mail rebate from September 22 until October 5.
Coupled with the console's recent price cut to $299, the system will cost new buyers $249 for the duration of the promotion, as long as the rebate requirements are met.
"What's that I see?"...Ahh yes it's a "yellow light of death" on the black, lean, mean grilling machine...and to think they charged 400 quid for this unreliable piece of s**t, unbelievable!

This is one of those rare occassions where I actually agree with Svd...about mail-in discount coupons that is! That stuff is rubbish. Give me the discount up front or forget about it. Yeah, yeah, I'm quite aware of the advantages it provides the company employing this tactic as opposed to up front discounts. That's not my problem however as a customer; it's theirs since they want the customers' money.

Did you even bother thinking through your post above? MS is responsible for the recession? Get real. I think you will find two things regarding that claim: 1) It isn't relevant to this thread, and 2) it is false - large investment banks that gave too much credit and home loans to people who couldn't afford it in an effort to score even greater short term returns bear the brunt of the blame. Some responsibility/blame goes to the people who went ahead and took loans they should have known they couldn't afford from their existing financial habits as well.

SVD, in complete seriousness, I love the X360. I love it more than I could love a human child. I've been a gamer for over twenty years and I have never been gifted with a machine that gives me this much fun. I've made several great friends playing the thing, who've spilled over into my actual outdoor life. I've spent more hours gaming on the X360 than any other console, maybe twenty fold. Since I bought my PS3 its been used for the big exclusives and its a fun but flawed machine (not technologically like the X360 but online feature wise) that is slowly catching up to the features X360 launched with. Nobody wants the PS3 to do well more than I do because I spent a lot of money on it and i'm a real gamer, I go where the fun is being had and relish a good console war to push both sides to greatness......
....but and it is a big but. Seriously SVD, if you love your PS3 so much why spend so much time and effort ridiculing a better console (ATM) that is spurring your favoured machine into action? You know that no matter what you say or if the X360 stops selling today it has already done more than enough to secure Microsofts place in the next generation.
