Wii price cut: Evidence grows

ANOTHER retailer advertises US price drop
The Nintendo Wii looks almost certain to receive a price cut in North America later this month, as a third retailer advertises a drop to $199.99 later this month.

The image below, posted by Kotaku, shows a brochure for US retailer Target due to land the week of September 27, clearly advertising the Wii with $50 off.

The Target leak follows similar snaps from an upcoming Walmart ad and Toys 'R Us brochure advertising the Wii for $199.99.

When contacted, a Nintendo spokesperson told CVG: "We currently have no plans to cut the price of Wii. Current talk of price cuts is rumour and speculation.

"This is rumour and speculation as Nintendo have made no announcements on price. Furthermore this is most likely retailer led much in the same way retailers in the UK offer price promotions on our products."

The wii has been cheaper for months I've seen it in various stores for £149.99 or they throw in games like mario kart it was the same with ps3 before the price cut,if u look around most places have better deals as long as u avoid the usual rip off stores

This ripped from a GoNintendo Forum:

"Wii will be reduced to $199, effective Sunday, September 27th, and will likely include retailers nationwide. The confirmation was made during a retailer conference call today where a Nintendojo staffer was in attendance."

On the Uk side Asda is cutting the price to £157, but they are the only retailers who are offically cutting their price, bare in mind they are apart of Wal-Mart who always undercut other retailers.

On top of that I agree with the post above me, most UK retailers (aka GAME and GAMEstation) do sell new at around £150...
