Uncharted 2 "doesn't conclude story at all"

Naughty Dog says it'll keep making Drake adventures "as long as people want more"
Naughty Dog has said it'll keep making new games in the Uncharted series "as long as people want more". For the record, we want more.

Speaking on the "It doesn't conclude the story at all," she said. "Our expectation with Uncharted is it'll be an ongoing franchise as long as people want more of it.

"All these stories are self contained - you don't have to play the last one to play this one. Obviously you're going to get a little more out of it if you have but you know, [Nathan Drake]... he's going to have lots of adventures like that." Excellent news for all concerned, there.

The second game is out next month. Read Games Radar's exclusive Uncharted 2 review for an early heads-up, and look out for our verdict shortly.

You deserve some ownage:

Uncharted 2 has 10 hour campaign in normal.

It has matchmaking (!) for co-op.

It has all new, never before seen, multiplayer maps.

Enjoy your Milky bar, kid. Wink

Hey, if we have the chance for more Uncharted, I'd milk that cow for all it's worth myself (and there are far worse offenders out there right now, eh Activision?). Some Jak and Daxter wouldn't go amiss either.
GTCzeero on 23 Sep '09
Two or three games is hardly over the top, and it's not like they've gone nuts selling Drake merchandise or anything. It only counts as franchise milking if they end up being too similar or crap. Otherwise it's giving the public what they want.

2016 - Uncharted 9:- Search for Drakes zimmer frame...milk it ND, Mmmooooo!!

Can't wait! I've had Drake's Fortune since it was released and I still play it sometimes. The trailer for the sequel looks frakkin' amazing. Roll on October!

Here's to Uncharted on PS4 & PS5!
samoset on 23 Sep '09
Uncharted 3: Drake's Misfortune. Basically he slips and falls down a cliff on the first level breaking his back. He then gets told he'll never walk again but after a defiant outburst in the middle of the hospital you spend the rest of the game wiggling the 2 analogue sticks to prove everyone wrong.

MS then charge you an extortionate amount of points to buy Uncharted-branded crutches for your avatar. Hang on a tick......
altitude2k on 23 Sep '09

Definitely, a new one is long overdue. I would love to see what ND could do with the series on PS3. Now that they are finished with Uncharted 2 , a new one could definitely be on the cards.

Exclusive games on the ps3 have failed miserably in sales despite reviews and hype.
360_Fan on 23 Sep '09
Killzone 2, Infamous, Valkyria Chronicles, Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank CIT and, probably, Gran Turismo 5 all in one year, added to Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Resistence 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift etc already available. Hell, 2010 promises White Knight Chronicles, D. Souls, Final Fantasy Verses, Agent, MAG, The Last Guardian, God of War 3, Heavey Rain etc.

Thank you Mr Sony, Mircosoft can stick their add ons, full priced 'additions'and quick do something cash ins (looking at you L4D) where the sun don't shine.

With Uncharted 2's release nearing, I can firmly suggest that, as a PlayStation fanboy, the old '"Xbox 360's games catelogue is better"' argument simply doesnt hold water.

Can only afford one game at moment and was going to hold off for COD MW 2 but now I think I'll get Uncharted 2.

Err... not including Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, then, which obviously sold enough to warrant the sequel. Confused

Game sales or not, when the price of PS3 dropped, this added thousands of newer users and will continue to grow, and the big exclusive games on shelves are now readily available, and more benificially, at a platinum price tag.

I still laugh at the comments made by those who suggest a new entry to a series (MGS4) or a new ip (Uncharted) will convince them to splash out on a PS3, as these are generally 360 fanboys acknowledging the PS3s excellent cateloge without admitting it offers better gaming overall.

it's all opinion though really, if you want the best calogue of games get a pc as the games go way back and there are countless classics.

i thought the forums were getting better with less of this 'mine is better than yours' crap, but with odst now out (i got it today - hooray) and uncharted 2 getting good reviews it seems the same old culprits are back at it. shame really.

So long as the quality remains as high as that achieved with the first two, surely you would want further Uncharted games?

At least further games would have the benefit of being different. Unlike the yearly sports sim updates and the " Hero" franchise thrashing from Activision.

Sorry, but your user name causes me to ignore any opinion you might express about Sony on the grounds of apparent (if not actual) bias.

That, and the fact that you are talking groundless and hyperbolic sh*te.
Havoc72 on 23 Sep '09
I intially read the headline as: "Uncharted 2 'doesn't include story at all'", lol.

It's a pretty standard model for a game developer to take, not really 'news'.

Or they are out of ideas. Killzone was s**te and the first uncharted was never even discussed before the second was announced. Suddenly is became "cool"

What the f**k is hyperbolic? Clearly I am too old for this kids lingo. If you have read any of my previous posts, you would see that I bag the 360 as much as I do the ps3. I made the name to annoy the huge amounts of ps3 fanboys on this site that do nothing but destroy any 360 articles. I give credit where credit is due to either console (not nintendo) and I also like to point out how much I dislike k**bs like you.

Uncharted PSP???
Duds86 on 23 Sep '09
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune was a sleeper hit that didn't get hyped up to the hills such as Too Human and Mass Effect.

Most who have played it recommend it and it has been considered to be one of the great games on any format. It was both critically and commercially well received and, for a new ip in a crowded market, that's praise worthy of the games underrated success.

Halo was in the same position, as was Resident Evil etc etc but all were really universally received when their sequels arrived (which is also when they acheived record breaking sales). It's unfair to label Uncharted cool 'after' its sequels announced release date. It was a great game to start of and still is. I would say that this sequel (like that of Halo and Resident Evil etc) has put a universal spotlight onto the franchise. And judging by early reviews, it looks to be heading in the same direction.

Only problem being, its rather close to COD MW2. This may have a major impact but at least its showing balls unlike the other run away projects who joined the 2010 club.

Not quite ("hyperbole" emanates originally from Greek). Just the product of a decent education. Something you clearly lack, as well as a dictionary and a willingness to improve yourself by looking a word you don't understand up.

However, kudos (more "kids lingo", no doubt) to you for admitting this. That must have taken some courage. Either that or the Alzheimers is kicking in again. Never mind, give it an hour or so and you will forget that this conversation ever happened.

As to your comment about the pub, no doubt words of more than 2 syllables are cause for a savage gumming in whatever God forsaken p*ss-smelling hellhole it is that you frequent.

And yet you still profess to be unbiased with no pro-360 agenda, despite these sweeping and unsupported statements clearly indicating the complete opposite? Such denial/self-delusion combined with opinion dressed up as fact would be truly admirable, if it wasn't so sad.

No. The s**t you come up with along with your world of warcraft mates is either pulled from thin air or from your word of the day calender in the hope it catches on, and gets you to the same god like status as the first guy that said uber, and you can then beat yourself off stupid in the God forsaken p*ss-smelling hellhole that is your bedroom.

...I think Uncharted looks pretty good myself. From what little I've seen, sections of it looks very similar to Tomb Raider- just with a lot more pizzazz, and other sections look a bit like Gears. How can that not be popular? Not sure what you guys are arguing for to be honest!

If the sequel's good, role on the next! Worked for Halo.

I forgot about what we were arguing about also. Us dumb folk just like a good fight. Personally I hate halo, and I think uncharted 2 looks good, but it worries me that the only couple of reviews are out very early and are giving perfect scores. If this were a xbox game, there would be hell to pay.

Yeah, that made me chuckle too! I'd probably be thinking "It's nice to hear someone with a decent lexicon. Now, back to my pint". Havoc, you get +1 in my estimations!

Anyway, to the article. I'm happy for them to continue making the games for as long as they are good. I don't see why any sensible gamer should think otherwise.

Oscar Wilde is alive and well.

Sadly I have never played WoW (as I believe the kids, who you so clearly despise, call it) nor do I have the need for a calendar that gives me a word to use each day, as unlike you I paid attention long enough at school to build my own vocabulary.

However, the idea itself is not without it merits. Perhaps we could make you a calendar with a suggestion of a way to fill each day before the nurse brings round your medication and changes your colostomy (look it up this time) bag. It could include suggestions such as: (a) make biased and unsupported statement and attempt to pass it off as objective fact; (b) reveal your ignorance of the English language to as many people on the internet as possible; (c) display your inferiority complex about people who are cleverer and/or younger than you; and (d) kill yourself.
Havoc72 on 23 Sep '09

No there wouldn't? Are you an idiot or are you just blinded by some crazy sense of fanboy-ism Confused Its a bloody good game, why does that bother you so much? So what if its got some perfect reviews, maybe it deserves such good scores. You hardly seem like the kind of guy who would complain if ODST had got perfect scores, and theres where I think the real problem lies, 360_Fan

Starsail you only have to look at the name of the plonker you're replying to. He must be loud, unreliable and prone to overheating. I thought Xbots didn't troll PS3 articles.

As long as ND don't release Uncharted the RTS game you know it's going to be good.

haha is that a snide remark about a certain console exclusive series that is on the peverbial gravy train that is the xbox 360. haha

starsail and havoc you guys are heros. is it that shameful 360_fan to deny being a fan of the xbox that you continuously juxtapose your arguments within the same article.

and back in 360_fans time they were too poor to go to school never mind being taught how to construe any meaning from a sheerly intelligent formation of sentence structure in the english language.

hows that for hyperbole haha before you say im a ps3bot. i love all 3 consoles i just hate the fact that when a quality game comes out on either console these insecure, inebriated schlemiels have to voice their retarded "opinion based fact" MadMadMadMad

I only recently started playing the original again. The 1st time through, I thought the shooting mechanics were poor, but after deleting the gameplay of COD from my mind and watching some actual footage of weapons being fired, a lot of the guns are quite close to reality, particularly the AK. This'll be a day one shop purchase for me, for sure.
